Our family of 4 did an excursion from Seoul for 3D/2N at Yongpyong Ski Resort. Booking/taking the purple ski shuttle bus was easy, and bus stops/parks at the parkade next to Condo Tower, so very convenient. Upon entering the Tower from the bus/street level, there was no sign to indicate that reception on the next floor up...took us a short while to note this. We arrived at 11:30am, and checked in to see if room was available. Without asking us, the front desk staff checked us into room and requested us to pay 30,000 won (10,000 for partial/each hour prior to 2pm check-in). It wasn't so much the cost, it was the principle, that at least they inform you of this surcharge first!||||Anyway, on the way to room, we noticed a smell from the carpets in hallways and they were fraying. The building was due for a re-flooring and paint job; otherwise, it was located beside the slopes, very convenient.||||Room was spacious, with rice cooker, microwave, stove-top (no oven), cups, dishes and cutlery. We had an "ondol" room, but floor mattress pad was too thin to sleep on, even though we are used to hard/firm mattresses back home! The duvet was thick and comfy, and they provide traditional Korean bead pillow, which was comfy to sleep on.||||There was no English instruction on how to control thermostat in room. Although it was -11C outside, it was hot and stuffy in room due to the radiant heat from floor. The only way to cool the room (even though there is an a/c wall unit) is to open the patio doors and bring in some cool air. Hotel management should consider having more English directions or directories to assist foreign guests... unless their intention is only to serve local folks. As for the mountain/slopes, there was no fresh snow in early January, so the runs were icy; however, the staff grooms the runs during 5-7pm (when slopes/lifts are closed) to provide better ski/snowboard conditions...and this was...
Read moreMy family of 4 including a 9 and 12yo stayed in an ondol room at the Tower Condominium for 3 nights in early February 2025, right when there was a cold wave, with temperatures as low as -16 (real feel -24). Luckily the room was toasty warm, with the wonderful underfloor warming. In fact, we had to open the sliding door slightly to cool it down. Perfect for a small family, there were cooking facilities and a huge fridge. We enjoyed the novelty of sleeping on the floor. Staff were friendly and we managed to check-in early as our room was ready. There was an AI conference at the same time, but we were not inconvenienced as the entire resort is huge! Many restaurants, 2 convenience stores, and a food court. We were spoilt for choice. Shout out to our lovely Argentinian ski instructor and Plus Planner / Winter Friend for making our stay so...
