We stayed at the Best Western Premier for one night, prior to catching a flight the next morning, on a room only basis (a buffet breakfast is available at KRW33,000 per adult). ||The hotel is very well located, a hotel shuttle bus is provided to take you to your terminal - about 5 minutes drive - and within a 500m diameter of the hotel are a raft of convenience stores, coffee shops and restaurants for a wide range of tastes and budgets.||There is a CU convenience within the hotel lobby itself if you don't want to venture out and we actually decided to play safe prior to a long haul and two short haul flights, and ate in the hotel restaurant for supper. We had an excellent meal - a Pork Cutlet for my other half and a traditional Beef Bulgogi tray for me, with all the side dishes.||My other half suggested that I score the hotel just 3 stars and, indeed, the overall rating on TripAdvisor is not much above that. Hear me out though ...||Yes, the decor is a tad tired, the corridors were somewhat dark and dingy with outdated carpet and the room could have done with a bit of refurbishment. There didn't seem to be many guests staying and the lobby and corridors did rather echo in an empty way.||But the location was SO convenient, as were all the shops and eateries within such a short walk of the hotel. If you don't mind being in a very small number of people partaking of the meals on offer in the hotel restaurant (which does mean that there isn't much atmosphere) then the food and service were really good.||Plenty of hot water, towels, robes and a huge comfortable bed. Good sound proofing from the windows and a solid air conditioning system which ensured a good night's sleep. A very modest amenity tray and the instant coffee sticks were an all in one - milk included - which didn't suit me, but we could have gone out for some or picked some up at the CU downstairs.||Plus, the bill for the night's accommodation came to just £78, for a hotel with free shuttle, just five minutes from the terminal and that counts for at least a star by my reckoning. Let's face it, by the time you are on your way home, as we were, you are just looking for somewhere to rest your head for the night before embarking on your journey and, in that respect, this fitted the bill and did so at a highly competitive price.||So, depending on your priorities, this makes a...
Read moreOnly needed for one night, layover… I didn’t think the ratings were relevant to me, but they actually were… how bad/disappointing could it get?
Well to start, I got to my room and used the toilet within 5mins (#1 thankfully), and the flushing mechanism did not work (seemed like it would overfill into the bathroom). It seemed like an easy fix with a plunger but alas! No plunger nearby (to be expected). So I go to call the receptionist, and the room number listed on the telephone is of the wrong room… well thankfully they sent an “engineer” who brought a plunger. But he didn’t leave the plunger with me… eh… (what if this is a reoccurring issue which I bet it is from the google search I did to fix the problem).
Next problem is the lights… I have a hard time falling asleep if there’s a light on. I do not do nightlights. Thankfully because I know this about myself I bring a sleeping mask with me when I’m traveling. Well… so it turns out there’s a couple of lights that have no light switches to them. They are on ALL THE TIME. It would be fine if they were out of my face but nah… the vanity light (right in front of the bed) does not turn off (no visible light switch). There’s also a lamp at the vanity that has NO SWITCH so it’s on all the time. I had to brute force unplug it from the socket.
Anywhos, the electric sockets as has been mentioned in other reviews IS indeed very far away from the bed (bring like an 8 ft cord with you), but I honestly do not mind.
I’m not one to write reviews… but I’m unimpressed at the moment (not even net neutral) and have to get it off my chest before I go to sleep (it’s been 1.5hrs since check-in)… I’ve definitely stayed at 3 star hotels better than this place!
Giving this place 2 stars total: 1 for serving my needs, bare minimum and 1 more star for cleanliness (or lack of evidence of uncleanliness at least). Withholding all the other stars for the unnecessary friction it has created in my life, mental energy and time that was spent. I understand the experience will most likely be different in a different room. I got the standard room with...
Read moreIt's a hotel that has a decently nice lobby but otherwise has seen better days. There are a number of hotels located sort of near ICN with shuttle service, and while it did its job of handling my one night layover, I have not become loyal enough not to consider its competitors should I need an airport hotel again.
The room was dated, with decades-old furniture, and only one small bed because apparently ondol means there's a big empty space for you to sleep on the heated floor. Could be fun but not practical for some travelers. There was a sign indicating you should not flush the toilet paper (put it in the trash can instead?!) which is not what international guests are prepared to do. Maybe the toilets would clog up if you tried? Also the showerhead was stuck in the "handheld" mode and couldn't be switched to the big overhead spray. No big deal but further showing how old things were. Also not enough electrical outlets, no USB plugs.
There's usually one or two shuttles every hour going from hotel to and from the airport. It's quite far geographically and I'm not sure there's an easy pedestrian path. The two airport terminals are not close together and the shuttle only goes to T1. The typical way to get to T2 is the airport's own free shuttle bus which takes surprisingly long and goes on a scenic tour around the periphery of the airport. Would have been great if the hotel's bus went to both terminals.
The convenience store next to the lobby was good to have, and carries a variety of food and other products.
All in all, acceptable for the unfussy, but "room" for...
