The rooms were smaller than pictured, and was not well maintained. The walls had many stains, and the sheets were stained and dusty as well. The amenities were old and run down - the phone was sticky, the cupboards had a lot of dust, and the electrical sockets were not working. From what I've seen in some other reviews online, it used to be an old love hotel revamped as a hotel for tourists, so the shower situation was very exposed and NOT SUITABLE FOR FAMILY travelling together because the entire bathtub and shower can be seen by whoever is lying on the bed. I will not recommend it to people who are clean and tidy, because it feels like a dormitory or motel, and not a hotel.
There was a sign in the elevator stating that people who are underaged or are using this hotel for other "activities" would be fined, so I suppose it was a telling sign too. However, the staff were very friendly and prompt in their service, greeting guests daily and even assisting with food delivery for any late night cravings. They provided an extension cord for our spoilt power point, but it was still not an ideal situation.
Location wise, yes, it is part of Gangnam however not central. The hotel is tucked away in a very quiet corner far from the main district, in a smaller alley.
I really want to know who are the people writing such glowing reviews because the stay has been quite stuffy and uncomfortable, and we were told there were no rooms to upgrade to even if we wanted to pay - when some reviews shared they got free upgrades. I feel itchy just thinking about the bed.
It seems that they provide better service to foreigners in order to get higher reviews, as most of the bad reviews are from Koreans. Because a Korean friend accompanied us and helped us with the check-in, it seems that we got a bad room. So, I will say that there is a bias...
ย ย ย Read moreJust loved the overall experience this hotel has to offer. The staff is extremely helpful and kind, the hospitality is just amazing, i was earlier looking to book room in Intercontinental as i had to attend a conference there. but due to some issue i couldn't book and last minute the hotel was sold out so i booked this hotel as it was nearby to Intercontinental. But it was such a wonderful experience and it has changed my perception that the stars of a hotel don't matter but the warmth and the helpful nature of the staff does. They booked cabs for us when needed and any other request we made were fulfilled immediately without any hesitation and a smile on their face. If anyone is visiting Seoul they can definitely try this hotel as it would save you a lot of money on your trip plus the service will leave...
ย ย ย Read moreWhat was supposed to be a nice relaxing get away was quite the opposite. This is by far one of the worst hotel experiences Iโve had in Korea. Iโve stayed at over 30+ hotels here. The room is beautiful and the bathroom is nice and thatโs about it.
I didnโt arrive until a Saturday and they had already tried to charge my card 7 days prior. I told them to please stop. Wednesday, 3 days later they try again. I said I would be paying in person. They said they would stop. Saturday 3:30pm comes and I am in the taxi and they tried to charge my card a THIRD time! I am literally on the way to the hotel and they are trying to charge my card. After asking 3 times to please stop. This caused my bank to freeze my card and I had to call an explain. I AM PAYING IN PERSON.
Not only that but I didnโt even get a simple hello when I walked into the lobby. Very cold greeting. No apologies. A man came and helped with my air con and because my body was so stressed and heated from them causing my bank account to freeze.
I was looking forward to a nice morning to sleep in I am awakened by banging and rolling for two hours from the cleaning crew at 9am. Loud screaming in the hallways from the employees at 930am.
To top it off when I checked out I didnโt receive a single โthank youโ or โhow was your night?โ Nothing. Not even a goodbye
This is the most unprofessional hotel Iโve stayed in Korea and I wonโt be returning.
