Before publishing my review, I tried to connect directly with the hotel, but no answer was received.

A couple day after my check-out I have received a survey to evaluate my stay at Ikonik Ramblas and I thought that I would detail the rank I will provide.

While I would like to highlight the professionalism, the kindness, and the most helpful and warm support of Madamoiselle Françoise, the stay was far from answering the expectations of a 4 stars hotel.

Here below the reasons:

• While I was aware that the check-in time is planned at 3p.m., previous my arrival I had requested the possibility of preparing my room ahead. When I have arrived at the hotel, it was clear that there was no consideration of the request, and we were dismissed quite rudely and encouraged to wait till 3p.m. While I understand that it might be necessary to wait to check-in, not all rooms are prepared at the same time and it is usually made an effort to satisfy customers' requestes.

• After my first night, I have left my room around 10h15 to pursue my professional meetings. I came back at 16h00 and to my surprise, the room was not yet cleaned. I tried to call the hostess from the room, but no connection was provided (??), so I had to personally go at the entrance to ask for explanations. I was requested to wait another 30 minutes to let the service finish the rooms they were doing before starting mine. Nonetheless, I had only 1h available to rest and take a shower before leaving for my evening meetings, therefore I asked to clean up my room after my leave, meaning at 17h20-17h30. I was denied the request stating that the room service finishes at 17h00 the latest. It's needless to say that this does not reflect a 4 stars hotel, not even are 3 or 2 stars. I paid 300€ for a room which I could not use and moreover this caused professional issues due to the unavailability of my room at the suited time. It is unacceptable.

• When the hostess helped my colleague and I prepare our check-out, we reserved a taxi at 4h15 in the morning. Due to the early timing, I was offered to receive a wake-up call at 3h50. This call was never provided. I would discourage offering services that you do not provide, it is quite upsetting for customers.

For these reasons, I need to state that this was the worst stay I had in a...

The good the hotel is in a great location, c. 1 hour from the airport by metro and very central as a base the reception area is very clean the staff are very friendly (several reviews suggest otherwise but that was definitely not my experience) there is a restaurant (we didn't eat there) the rooms are clean and air conditioned the double bed is comfortable the shower is good and toiletries are provided the bathroom is a good size a stocked (limited) mini bar is provided an electronic safe is provided noise is very well insulated (when you close the window)

The bad there is no hotel bar the room is very basic there is a clothes rail but no wardrobe not all rooms have a good view, ours was of a wall the room is very dark with one plastic chair and small table there is no tea / coffee facility despite the minibar there are no drinking glasses (i was given a disposable coffee cup when I asked for a wine glass) the balcony is tiny with no furniture

The conclusion Ikonik Ramblas gives you what you pay for; it is not an expensive choice and your expectations should align to that. It is a great location for a base to explore Barcelona, the gothic quarter, Las Ramblas etc. and close to metro links for travelling further. If you don't plan on spending time in your hotel then this is a great choice but if you want a hotel where you can lounge then look...

Overall happy with our stay here! It was in a great central spot & a nice reprieve from the summer heat. Easy to come back for naps before going out again!

Pros: -Location (La Rambla, Gothic Quarter nearby, 5 min walk to metro to access the city).

-Nice rooms, shower nice pressure/heat, amenities like shampoo, body wash, blow dryer. A/C worked amazing after a hot summer day out!

-Baggage drop off available (free) if you arrive before check in. Extremely helpful! There's even a bathroom you can use to change & wash up.

-Staff is nice and always friendly when you walk in/out.

Cons (small but not deal breakers for me): -Bathroom door is just a sliding glass that doesn't really offer privacy. No fan to muffle noises for privacy. I could have a conversation with my husband while using it with door closed & hear everything.

-Outside noise. Comes with location so I don't mind it but FYI for anyone sensitive to noises. It's on La Rambla so you can hear people on the street all times of day. Also the lobby echoes because of the set up it carries throughout all the floors. Very echoey when people are rolling bags, talking downstairs.

-Cleaning is not done daily. You have to put a sign up to indicate you'd like it cleaned which isn't something I'm used to. Also apparently even if you do that saying please clean, they won't give you new towels unless you put it...

Short summary: + Service + OK-ish location - Nowhere worth the money - Average breakfast - Noise from the "lobby" or outside or combined - Personal rating: 3* --- Experience & Observations: Definitely not recommended for the price. One star is for the staff (professional approach, smooth check-in/out) and one star for the location — which is questionable due to Barcelona's size, vast public transport network, and taxi services. A four star hotel should not be missing basic amenities in the bathroom. On the other hand it should be able to pre-advise circumstances such as extensive road works in the main street (La Rambla, mid May 2025), which are affecting the quality of your experience (noise, limited access) and which must have been well known to the property. There are other details that should not be missed, such as not always all the food was available (missing bacon), door to the bathroom could not be closed, etc. If the rating is honest and prices adjusted, it could be a nice hotel. --- From hotel by foot: Plaça de Catalunya - 15 min (~ 1 km) Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya - 30 min (~ 2.5 km) Barceloneta Beach - 25 min (~ 2 km)

The structure is completely renovated extremely clean, modern and welcoming. The staff is young, friendly, kind and very helpful. The room is neither big nor small, just right! With a large comfortable bed. The light points are also excellent, allowing you to have various gradations of lighting. In the room there is also a television that receives many channels, including foreign ones. Every day, of course, the room was cleaned, tidied up and the towels replaced. The bathroom is also large, including the shower. Finally, the terrace overlooking the Ramblas is the icing on the cake... Negative points of our stay: 1. Very poor internet in the room, with pages opening with a snap. 2. The shower with a huge glass door that even when trying to be careful, however, floods the floor. 3. Finally, a negative note for the breakfast in general, very limited and poor in savory food but also and above all in sweets! Honestly, from a 4-star hotel I expected much more than those three (literal) mini frozen brioches.
