We booked Casa Marina Suites for our wedding reception which took place in August. We booked the suites through our wedding planner and paid a 500 Euro deposit on the 1/2/17 and received a receipt to confirm this. ||||We visited in March and had a meal there which was superb and were very much looking forward to our wedding reception for 14 guests there. On arriving in Spain for our wedding we went to the suites to meet our wedding planner and also the manager to confirm the final details and all seemed as planned and the female manager on duty at the time confirmed she had received our deposit.||||We arrived at 5pm on the day of the wedding and the setting and food could not have been better. The waiters and waitresses were superb and very attentive. The starters alone were sufficient for a meal but we finished with Entrecote steak which was superb. ||||Unfortunately after an amazing day that's where the problems began. We had been advised earlier in the day that taxi's home might be an issue and that we should book early. At 10pm we requested staff to call for taxis and were expecting a 1-2 hour wait. It turned out that no taxi's were available full stop.||||Whilst we were trying to call various taxi companies I was then presented with the bill by the duty manager Thierry. I had not met him before and have no desire to again. He couldn't be more different to the rest of the staff if he tried. Arrogant, rude and unhelpful. The bill did not reflect the deposit we had paid and unfortunately due to our mobile phones running out of battery after spending 2 hours calling taxi's we could not prove we had paid with the copy of the receipt which was on our phones. ||||Thierry refused to accept that we had paid our deposit and even denied that the booking had been made by our wedding planner who uses the hotel frequently for weddings. He was rude, aggressive and when I refused to pay the the full bill (I did agree to pay the bill less my deposit already paid) he then called police. My three daughters were upset believing that their Dad was about to be arrested and I reluctantly agreed to pay the full bill. Once I did this he stated that the taxi issue was not his problem and at 1am ejected my entire group including three children onto the street with no means to get home. Fortunately a member of staff called a friend who agreed to make 4 runs to 3 different towns to get us home. We don't know your name but thank you to the female member of staff who arranged that for us. ||||The following day we returned and presented the receipt and the deposit was refunded to us however their was no apology.||||I completely understand and accept that the Taxi situation was no fault of the staff but to throw out a family who has just spent nearly 1500 Euro's in the restaurant I find this unacceptable. Could we not have waited on chairs in the garden? ||||In summary, a stunning place with great food. Staff lovely but Thierry might need some re-training. The owner was spoken to the following day who accepted that they had made a mistake but blamed us for not having a copy of the receipt with us. Silly me, I made sure I had the rings but forgot to bring the receipt for...
Read moreWe've eaten in the restaurant on previous occasions when visiting this area of Spain and thought it would be lovely to stay for a week in one of the suites. We chose Suite1, a 2-bedroom suite and were sadly very disappointing almost from the moment we walked in.||||The outlook and outside facilities are very good indeed, the pool area with everything you could possibly need, the lovely small cove and beach etc. all absolutely lovely.||||Turning to the suite the lounge and dining area were fine with a nice outlook, as was the terrace although you had to be careful not to smack your head on the very low sun canopy! The two bedrooms however are tiny with two small twin beds pushed together and small bedside units either side. There is no other storage whatsoever as there simply is no room to fit anything else in. The only other bedroom furniture is a wardrobe unit in the lounge which had just two hangers!! The bedrooms are not air conditioned but do have portable fans which in such tiny rooms is not ideal.||||The bathroom is dated and the shower very small.||||The kitchen is most disappointing of all. "Rustic" it is not! Old and tatty it is. A free-standing fidge/freezer, a gas hob and basic microwave are provided with a two-slice toaster and a heat on the hob kettle. There's no oven. A decent coffee maker was provided though which seemed in contrast to everything else! We had four glasses which comprised a brandy balloon, a wine glass, a very small tumbler and a small tumbler. There was no bottle opener or cork screw, which presumably not deemed necessary as nothing to drink out of!! I reasonable supply of matching crockery and a mixed bag of cutlery, little matched. There are no washing up materials or drying towels provided. The kitchen is tiny with hardly any storage.||||We managed to obtain some glasses and a bottle opener from the restaurant as well as a few other bits which were lacking, clothes hangers, additional towels etc., none of which we should have had to do. ||||No welcome pack or information pack was provided.||||Another point which we didn't consider is that as the suites are part of the restaurant complex is the lateness of tidying up in the restaurant and staff/people leaving which meant it was quite noisy for a period during the early hours of the morning.||||A lovely location and outlook but very disappointed with the suite. Very expensive for what it is and dreadfully let down by the kitchen and overall attention to detail which is expected at this price.||||In view of the location we desperately wanted to like the Casa Marina Suites but just too many...
Read moreThis is a tiny hotel in a quiet cove. The suites are very spacious and nicely furnished. The four ground floor ones consist of a double bedroom and a large sitting room (with a second double bed) and a modern bathroom. The two first floor suites are larger, with a living room, two bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen. Each suite has a balcony/terrace with chairs and sun loungers. There is fridge and a coffee machine. A pile of books invites to reading, even if you don't bring your own. ||The garden is lovely and very well kept. There is a large pool surrounded by comfortable sun loungers. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is very convenient (as far as I understood there is nothing else within walking distance, apart from the little beach bar). This is certainly not a place for party animals or anyone looking for the ambiance of Benidorm and the likes. But if you want to enjoy a few quiet days with beautiful views of the sea, without any traffic at all, in a large and comfortable room, Casa Marina really is the...
