if you want to experience a true Spanish hospederia, this is the place for you. The four and five star hotels down the beach in Novo Sancti Petri will offer you all inclusive packages, swimming pools and spas, and that's fine, but you can find that in many parts of the world. This little Hospederia, just off the main road that runs parallel to the fabulous La Barossa beach (7kms of glorious white sand) has few (12, I think) rooms many of which are built around a typical "patio interior" (so no steps) where you can sit out and enjoy enjoy a lazy afternoon or evening-there is also a pretty back garden. The hospederia doesn't offer meals, but there is a kettle in your room and a fridge for cold drinks, and a couple of little local shops nearby where you can buy what you need. Two minutes to the beach and less to a variety of cafes and bars. Would recommend both the tapas bar on the left on the main road, the pizza restaurant (Soave) next to that and the cafe (La Abeja Mayor) next to that where you can indulge in afternoon tea, or "mourned." A little English is spoken so if you don't speak Spanish take a dictionary or phrase book. Staff are friendly and helpful. La Baross is busy in July and August, with mainly Spanish visitors, but quiet for the rest of the year, especially during the...
Read moreFound this beautiful little hotel on Trivago.|My husband & I we’re on a road trip & we found it easily enough via Google Maps.||We parked on the street as there’s no on-site parking. The hotel was welcoming as soon as you walked in. Beautiful flowers & an immaculate court yard. The receptionist didn’t speak any English but that was fine, thanks to my very basic Spanish & yet more help from google, we got by.||We were taken to our room & given 2 keys. 1 for the room & 1 for the outside gate which is locked at 10pm.||The room was lovely, has A/C, a spotlessly clean bathroom, a mini fridge, flatscreen tv with USB & HDMI ports! There’s even Tea/ Coffee facilities (the Spanish don’t seem to do this). We had the best nights sleep, due to the very comfy bed/pillows & the dark wooden shutters, there was no light whatsoever or noise. Completely tranquil!||Location wise, it’s superb. There’s little a Spanish shop 2mins walk, he sells everything!! We picked up water for our room, some beers & snacks. The beach/ bars/ restaurants are all about 5mins walk away.||Will definitely stay here again, as we frequently...
Read moreAs it is low season which I suppose starts as soon as the schools go back the daily rate offered on booking.com was E.45. Compared to those swanky hotels down the road at Novo Sancti Petri this was a bargain. The accommodation is ideal for a break having clean and well fitted bathroom and bedroom furniture. In fact well designed. There was an A/C unit on the wall which we did not use preferring to leave the windows open because fly screen attached and the weather was cooler. The soap dispenser instead of those puny tint bars of soap was most sensible as was the kettle and things for breakfast. All very thoughtful. The WiFi worked in the room most of the time. The small back garden as seats and tables for sitting out. Nearby you can find some places to eat...we liked the Bernardo restaurant which is near the sea and maybe 10 mins walk. The walk down to the beach promenade and excellent beach is also 10 minutes max and the beach in mid Sept had all the usual things like showers toilets and beach loungers but for E.5 per day. The chiringuitos along here are varied and...
