Where to start with this fantastic hotel. We had the Dreaming Sea room which had absolutely phenomenal unrestricted views down to the sea, it's slightly more expensive than the garden view rooms but it's definitely worth it.||The room was spacious and the bed was huge (bit too soft for me but that's personal preference) good sized balcony with 2 chairs and a small table, ideal to just sit and enjoy the silence (aside of the birds and the church bell Estellencs is pin drop silent a lot of the time)||Breakfast was OK, standard buffet fare but nothing special, would have benefited from a little more choice (lots of fresh loaves of bread but no baguettes, yogurt but no dried fruit or fruit compote to go with it - though there is fresh fruit)||Pool/ outdoor area is lovely, several different outdoor sections to sit or lay in, the pool itself is small but ideal for the size of hotel, was never more than 2 or 3 people in it, there is also a pool bar that does drinks and snacks.||Had the evening meal in the hotel twice and it was spectacular, Rabbit cannelloni was packed with flavour, octopus and mussels were as good as you'll ever get and the Lamb Tagine was divine.||Both myself and partner had a spa treatment (Luna ritual) which was first class, both came out so relaxed we could barely speak. There is an indoor pool which looked lovely as well as sauna and steam room but we didn't get chance to try them.||All the staff were examples of what good customer service looks like, always polite and friendly and will go the extra mile (particular thanks to the receptionist who checked us in very late at night despite having finished, locked up and was crossing the road to go home when our taxi pulled up)||The hotel kindly arranged a taxi to pick us up and take back to the airport, which took a lot of the stress out of it as the village is not the easiest to get to without a car.||A few (very minor) negatives||No tea/ coffee making facilities in the room - even the more basic hotels in the UK have a kettle and cups in the room and I would have expected it here given the standard of the hotel (it would have been lovely to sit on the balcony with a cup of tea in the morning)||Sangria - there are roughly 5 places to eat and drink in Estellencs, Maristel probably has the nicest food based on what we tasted however, the other bars/ restaurants all serve homemade Sangria of varying qualities and strength (all around 15 euros for a litre) whereas Maristel use prebottled Sangria which is not particularly nice (also, by far the weakest, I bought a predone Don Simon one for 3euros which was much nicer and stronger from a shop in the next village)||Fridge - there is a good sized fridge in the room however there is a note on the room door stating guests are not permitted to use the minibar/ fridge for their own items and staff are authorised to remove anything in there. Seems a bit strange to provide something that guests can't use.||These are very very minor issues that did not spoil our enjoyment of the hotel.||In terms of the area itself, there is a pebble beach about half an hour walk away which can be done as a circular walk but the way back is up a very steep hill, the water is crystal clear but, as it is stone under foot, would recommend swim shoes.||There is a small shop in the village but it carries a very limited stock (there is a slightly larger shop in Banyalbufar about 10 minute bus ride or a supermarket in Esporles 30 minutes bus ride away)||If you are looking for a complete switch off then we cannot recommend this hotel and the area highly enough, it...
Read moreWe had a wonderful stay at Hotel Maristel. Check in was out of hours but the process was emailed to us, smooth at 4am in the morning and they had even put electronic candles and rose petals in our room for our celebration stay which was lovely! The food for breakfast was varied, hot options and eggs three ways (poached, fried and scrambled), various cold meats, salads, fruits, cheeses, cereals and pastries with jams etc, however the quality was high, the orange juice tasted freshly squeezed, the jams more homemade than sweet from a supermarket, coffee from a machine etc - the service was also great, one day there was only one waiter and everything he did was with a smile and he made sure being understaffed didn’t affect the guests experience. The spa is beautiful although we didn’t use it as we were so hot with the weather! We didn’t use the pool either so can’t comment on temperature but the view from the sun Ed is gorgeous and out to sea! The rooms were clean and modern, the beds were super comfortable- my husband and I are big people and need good support and they were like sleeping on a cloud! The shower over the bath was amazingly powerful although leaked a bit because of the poor seal on the glass door but it wasn’t a huge issue. Lots of space and lovely view!
Only things to note are the sounds of the countryside can be heard along with the dogs next door and local church bells ringing 4 times an hour 24hrs and whilst this is lovely during the day it can disrupt light sleepers ( it didn’t wake me up but did for my husband) - we actually popped on some white noise on low and we both slept deeply - it wasn’t a huge issue but something to note. The other issue was parking, it isn’t actually on-site parking - there are 2 parking lots but they are often full along with street parking - you will eventually get a space but it’s not completely hassle free, there was also a festival on Saturday night which we weren’t aware of parking was particularly difficult that night but not really a fault of the hotel. It’s in a very cute little town and so this is the downside of the location but the scenery and cuteness of the town makes up for it! Great bar and restaurant next door too which we went to watch the sunset - the desserts looked amazing but we had already eaten so didn’t order any!
A wonderful stay and would highly recommend for a great base for exploration up to Valldemossa/Deia and Soller and...
Read moreFantastic weeks stay at Maristel. Staff were really friendly from reception, to bar staff to cleaners. Everyone made you feel welcomed.
Food - really tasty. Good selection at breakfast from cold meats, cheeses, pastry’s to hot cooked. Fresh cake loaf every morning was lovely. We ate in the evening twice and had lunch twice and have to say food was amazing. Selection of tapas choices and also more main meal style all of which was really tasty, fresh and good variety. Drinks also really nice, good options and nice to have cocktails to choose from of an evening.
Rooms - we stayed in the dreaming sea view. Spacious and comfortable. This was in the block of rooms across the road and had a balcony overlooking the mountains and sea. Fantastic outlook and great to have the balcony. I would say though that rooms were a little tired. We had a dodgy balcony door (broken handle) and a few tiles were broken on the floor in the bedroom. You don’t spend a lot of time in the room at a hotel like this so really didn’t bother us!
Location - sleepy, wonderful village of Estellences! We adored it but would not recommend if you’re after something with a bit of a buzz. Only about 3-4 restaurants in the village and would highly recommend a car although bus was very frequent from what we saw. Access down to the beach (very steep!).
Hotel amenities - although we had spa access (we booked direct) we didn’t actually use, however pool area was lovely. Lots of sun beds and good selection of other seating (sofas, chairs, deck chairs, day beds, beanbags etc)
Overall we had a wonderful stay, if you’re after something a little quieter, up in the mountains away from the hustle and bustle, I’d 100%...
