Positives: Really impressed with water pressure WiFi coverage and speed was good, but occasionally got nothing despite being connected Nice horseshoe promenade around the beach, filled with entertainment and touristy shops/restaurants, even an arcade! Despite our delayed flight with Ryanair, our connecting shuttlebus, by CanaryShuttles, was great as they took us by taxi at no extra charge Disabled access with lifts and ramps (although they need some TLC) Friendly staff and everyone seems happy & laid back (the Spanish way of life) Food & drink, there’s something for everyone, really impressive daily range Hygiene everywhere was clean and tidy E-bikes were absolutely fantastic, €35 each for the day, and they were top spec, including helmet and lock too. Fred was super! The pizza is top-notch; don’t change your recipe! Most of the staff, especially the cleaners, are super friendly and nice
Improvement areas: Aircon powerfulness & noise it makes Bathroom shower curtain & rust Honesty and clarity about what’s included (eg: the spa isn’t on site, nor is bowling, nor is jacuzzi, renting towels is chargeable, etc) seems a bit deceptive; best to have a website and list it transparently The bathroom complimentary toiletries were sub-standard (instead of just two industrial pumps filled with soap, how about 4-star luxury miniature products) The patatas bravas weren’t very nice; too garlicky and funny taste €4 + €5 deposit for locker at waterpark isn’t a very fair price, should be all-inclusive Add price on Pool table coin slots, as the labels have faded Invest in better toilet roll as 1-ply isn’t good enough for a 4-star hotel Staff in clothes shop (Sunny Fashion) to not be so pushy! They think aggressive pressure selling to buy a t-shirt is charming but it’s not nice The water park floor should be swept daily, as the little bits hurt your feet Grease the parasols outside the canteen, because they squeak loudly as they rotate in the wind Ping pong bats and balls to be kept at the pool bar rather than reception (makes no sense!)
Negatives: Gentlemen apparently have to wear trousers and closed shoes at dinner (according to the QR code scanned at reception) The ‘sea view’ is very partial in your peripheral vision & there’s construction directly opposite Tiny ants in the bathroom The no-alcohol cocktails (mocktails) were really untasty
General: The whole area is very family friendly & family orientated The water park is uniquely filled with seawater, which we liked cos no chlorine eyes! Entertainment is not for young adults; definitely for kids and families Renting a beach sunbed is €3.50 and parasol €3.50 (so two chairs and an umbrella is €10.50 by card only) but it’s for all day; simply check for a seat without a mark on the rear (X marks the spot), sit down, and someone will come round with a card machine & give you a ticket, so you can come and go all day. If you don’t like the food at lunchtime, you could get a burger or hotdog (inclusive) from the poolbar instead Cute and friendly cats roaming the area Annoying birds at lunchtime and be sure to wear Deet for the flies etc Super hot all year round; even when it said 24°c & overcast on Google, it felt like 32°c
To conclude: The hotel itself is not that big and only has a swimming pool, snooker table, and pingpong table on site; everything else is a few minutes’ walk away. What’s included in the all-inclusive? Breakfast /lunch /dinner, poolbar snacks & drinks, bedroom bathroom, waterpark, beer & cocktail bar at entertainment area. What else? ACCESS TO (i.e. it’s within reach but chargeable extra): spa, jacuzzi, indoor pool, steam room sauna, bowling, arcade, crazy golf, paddle /tennis, e-bikes, water sports, caricature artist, kids play area, waterpark locker, and more. There are little shops/stalls and a mini supermarket too. The area is generally nice with a friendly vibe (everyone saying Hola to each other), the weather was glorious & the beach was not too busy. As a gay couple, would we go again? Probably not, as it’s very...
Read moreDefinitely not a 4 star. Reception area is dark and unwelcoming. Arrived at 11pm to be issued with a dry inedible cheese & ham sandwich, a banana and a bottle of room temp water. Air con in room was broken. Food is basic and cheap. Entertainment is non existent at the hotel. Evening entertainment is down by the arcades - not the best but better than nothing. No atmosphere around the small hotel pool. Alcohol is awful homebrew that just makes you feel sick and tired. Waterpark is okay - needs attention on the concrete steps, they're all broken and dangerous. Slides hurt your bum as you go down them (and I'm only very slight build). You can't take hotel drinks or food into the waterpark so if you want a cheap break don't book here as you will have to keep taking the outdoor lift back upto the hotel to eat and drink. Staff don't interact with guests - They take your plates away and that's as far as it goes. 1 pool table in the reception area for the whole hotel to use. 1 table tennis table stuck up a corner which is worn out. All inclusive is awful - you have to ask for fries, burger hotdog or toastie at the pool bar then wait for it to be cooked. You would think this is better as the food is fresh, but no I asked for fries and was given cold ones that had been sat in the fryer basket for however long. When I advised the woman they were cold she tipped them back into the oil even though I had touched them and tasted them. Then she issued them back to me minutes later over fried and they had to go in the bin. Desserts at the restaurant are poor. Shops on the strip are overpriced tat - paid £10 for a small foam beach ball. Beds don't get changed despite being sandy or marked. Bathrooms are dated and in need of new showers and baths. Also the room walls are painted yellow, it's so depressing, they need to be white to freshen it up abit. Toilet never gets cleaned all week. Pavements and paths are dirty and neglected in the whole resort. Wooden walkways have loose planks all over. Spa is overpriced. Arcade is okay for kids but take plenty of money. Drinks at the arcade bar are cheap and taste bad. Mattresses uncomfortable. Pillows flat and lumpy. Tennis court is £15 to use and the balls are the exact same colour as the court-floor so it's difficult to play. There is falling cliff signs everywhere and the whole resort is being held back by wire netting. Workmen are trying to rebuild 1 hotel where the whole cliff has fallen into the sea. Derelict hotel hangs on one cliff overlooking the Costa. Not a great view from the balcony. Supermarket is £4 for a bag of skittles and £4 for a family bag of crisps. Don't bother buying the minimarket fresh milkshakes for £6.50 it's just UHT milk and a scoop of oreo ice cream. Go in the shop itself and buy a bottle of milkshake for 90p instead. Much nicer.
GOOD POINTS :- Beach is gorgeous soft sand. Breakfast isn't too bad. Coffee machine is okay. Sunshine !!!
If you are coming as a couple for a chilled break then you may find it okay to stay here as you wouldn't spend much time in the hotel. If you're coming as a family for a cheap break I'd say no, you'll spend more time walking back to the hotel to get your free drinks or you'd spend alot of money buying drinks and using the arcade.
Wouldn't return. The locals/staff clearly just want money and not pleasantries. Whole...
Read moreFamily of 4 including a 19 year old and 15 year old boy. We have been to Gran Canaria multiple times over the years, AI & non-AI, but never been here. |This hotel is part of a chain of 3 in the vicinity. They are nestled into the beautiful canyon-type area of Taurito village. There is everything you need in the village - plenty of shops, a bar and the dark sandy beach. We stayed at this hotel which is smaller I believe than the others. Staff are friendly and welcoming and the rooms are basic but clean. There is one main restaurant in the hotel for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you’re a fussy eater like 2 of our party, you may struggle to enjoy some of the food. We found that having a hotdog or burger and chips at the pool bar during the day worked better for us. Usual cheaper alcohol you expect from all inclusive is available all day as well as soft drinks. The pool is quite small, but this helps it stay a little warmer! You’re not allowed inflatables, balls, diving/jumping etc, so maybe a little on the boring side for little ones. If you get the female lifeguard, she’s a little less strict than the male. The entertainment, mini golf and water park are a short walk or lift down into the centre. Entertainment is pretty decent; kids entertainment between 8-9pm then more adult focussed 9-10pm. Variety of acts including traditional Spanish dancers, magician, singers, quiz - something different most nights. We noticed that you needed to get down there early-ish if you wanted a bench for the entertainment otherwise, you’re waiting standing up next to bar tables. We thought some bar stools would be good to alleviate this. All inclusive drinks also included for the entertainment area, although we didn’t figure this out immediately. We made the mistake of wandering into Hotel Livvo accidentally and our wrist bands were red instead of blue which staff immediately noticed and told us we couldn’t eat there (not that we were trying to!) |One thing we found an little annoying is that our all inclusive did not allow us food or drink in the water park, so you need to either bring your own or buy whole there. There’s a deal on for something like 13€ a day for 3 drinks and some food through the hotel, but we didn’t opt for this. A small bottle of Sprite costs 3€. |There’s a lovely bar next to the entertainment which sells candy floss and popcorn etc, but also proper beer and spirits. They have a virtual dart board so we spent an hour or 2 each night in there after the entertainment had finished. We had a hire car through Autoreisen (no deposit, excellent value £120 for the week) which meant we could travel out to Peurto Rico a couple of times. We did this for old times’ sake and tattoos rather than anything else. You don’t really need to leave the resort. There are pharmacies, although for actual medication, you will have to go to Peurto Rico because they only seem to sell herbal remedies. |All in all, a lovely holiday with everything you need within walking distance. We would come back, but maybe stay in one of the larger hotels next to the water park and...
