We booked Cabot cap de mar aparthotel in Cala bona Majorca because we couldn't get into our usual hotel in Cyprus , we've been to Majorca several times and have always enjoyed it there .|First of all palma airport was a nightmare , totally mayhem , arrivals and departures all together , so security couldn't be as good as it should be . The airport is massive and very very busy with breakdowns of their luggage system and passport system , with some very stressed and rude staff too .|The hotel itself is great , decent rooms and comfy beds , the water pressure is huge so showers were great . Breakfast was also very good. The selection was great , unfortunately the coffee machine wasn't as reliable as it should be .the onsite restaurant closed at 3 in the afternoon which was unfortunate but for 2 euros you could get aioli bread and olives which was a bargain . The pool seems small for the amount of people but never felt crowded.|A couple of niggles is the lack of working locks on toilets and lack of signs , we were there 5 days before we realised the breakfast room was directly under my dads room and the trek through the pool area , reception area etc etc wasn't needed it was literally down 12 stairs or one floor in the lift , we saw several people doing the trek , one sign saying restaurant would solve this.|One thing that really winds me up is paying for a safe , I know how cheap these hotel safes can be to buy so to pay €40 for two weeks to me is expensive, we had 4 rooms so we would need to pay €160 if we all wanted our own safe . I would recommend the Cabot but I can't recommend the beach which is literally ten metres away , it stinks of sulphur which is fine if it's a volcanic area but it's the huge mountains of seaweed rotting that makes the beach smelly and very dirty , the sea by this beach is very dirty too and has a very weird spongey seabed.|This ruined my dad's holiday as he loves the beach and was one of the reasons we picked this area because of easy access as he has...
Read moreThe location is excellent, but the hotel absolutely does not live up to its 4-star rating — at best, it’s a 2-star. The rooms are old and worn, with scuffed walls. The two-room suite for two adults and a child was very cramped, and the balcony was so small that two people could barely turn around on it. The bathroom lacked basic amenities — we were given only one small bar of hand soap for three people for an entire week. Instead of toilet paper, there were rough gray napkins. The cups and saucers in the room were dirty, with coffee and tea stains left by previous guests — we had to wash everything ourselves. The air conditioning is a whole separate issue — it’s just vents in the ceiling, and when it’s on, cold air blows directly onto your face while you’re lying in bed. As a result, we ended up getting sick. The breakfast buffet was very repetitive — the same dishes were served every day for seven days with no variation. The food at the restaurant on the summer terrace was disappointing. On the first day, I ordered a pizza for my child and a sandwich, but neither were tasty, and we didn’t return to eat there again. One highlight was the staff — the room was cleaned well, everyone was very friendly, and the bartender was always welcoming. There was also lovely live music in the evenings. Another plus is the surrounding area — there are many restaurants and shops nearby, and free parking is available. However, the hotel is in desperate need of renovation and updates. The pools had such a strong chlorine smell that we didn’t dare to swim in them. The beach directly across from the hotel is small and poorly maintained — full of seaweed and a strong sewage odor. Fortunately, about a 10-minute walk away, there’s a beautiful, crystal-clear beach at Cala Millor, which we ended up...
Read moreWe have stayed at a local 4 star hotel in the area previously and it’s very clear this isn’t to a 4 star standard. BUT I would add it’s close to half the price here however that doesn’t change the claimed rating. Rooms are of a good size. Sofa beds are more like beds but all were hard. The TV wasn’t in English but I didn’t come to watch TV anyway. Air con was decent in the day but we often woke up sweating in the night, especially in the main bedroom. Breakfast was hit and miss. Coffee was awful but there was a good range of food to cater for most people. Omelette bar and fresh eggs made to order. Often ran out of cups but were replenished fairly quickly. The pool was disappointing overall. It’s fairly small and in the shade most of the day due to the large hotel across the road. As there are not many guests we never had an issue getting a sunbed but quite a few were broken. Lifeguard most days was playing on his phone and wandering off so keep an eye on your kids yourself. Our kids went to the mini disco a few nights. Often only 3-6 kids there but the lady running it (also the receptionist and bar lady) was excellent and made it very engaging for the kids. There isnt much on in the way of entertainment although the singer on Mondays is very good. A lot of the staff don’t speak much English at all but were quick to resolve any issues. Iron was quickly provided on request as was a missing sheet and toilet paper. The location is excellent. Right on the main strip opposite the beach. It’s not an overly lively resort so no issues with sound. If you get a good price it’s worth it for a base to stay but don’t expect a 4 star hotel as you will be...
