The decor was charming, set in a little medieval village, and good access to Baqueira ski resort. It's a shame they didn't turn on the wood fireplace as it would be very cozy to relax in the lobby. Unfortunately this is where the good points end.||||1. Made the reservation via booking.com, I emailed to request a double bed and to book the spa/sauna. No reply from the hotel. When I arrived, we had twin beds, the beds were old and the mattresses were too soft and neither of us had a good night's sleep. The next morning we asked if there was a double bed available, they said no. When we asked about the sauna, we were told it's fully booked (!!!)||||2. We stayed in the superior room and it had a little kitchenette with a fridge and microwave. Fridge was completely empty. There was no kettle or tea/coffee making facilities. Very strange! Wanted to call room service about this, but realised there was also no telephone in the room.||||3. Breakfast felt like a selection of supermarket foods. Beautifully presented though. For pan con tomate (toasted bread, then we rub garlic and tomato onto it), the tomato was chopped tomato out of the tin. Everything else was also out of the tin/packaging. Disgusting hot food of super salty greasy bacon, tinned mushrooms, and greasy fried eggs.||||4. The part I'm most uncomfortable with, is the fact that the management tried to cheat on the system. Prior to arriving on the first night, I called them to say we are arriving a bit later than expected and whether anyone would be there. She said no, and therefore left instructions on how to open the front door and where our keys would be. At this point, she also asked if I could cancel my reservation RIGHT NOW, I would be charged the 1st night's accommodation, and then I can pay for the 2nd night at the hotel upon check out. I didn't want to do it for fear of losing our reservation altogether, lack of mobile data in foreign country, plus I morally disagree with the plan. The morning after, the reception lady made a fuss about why I didn't cancel the reservation, and then she sent an email to booking.com to say I didn't show up. Clearly they're trying to avoid paying fees to...
Read moreGood location, easy access to Baqueira ski resort by car. The hotel feels like a 20th century manor: cozy, warm, outstanding decoration and pleasant atmosphere. We were a group of ten guests including two kids and this was our first time in Baqueira. My partner and I got a huge double room, with a queen bed perfect for couples and a spacious bathroom. The cleaning service was perfect and the staff at the reception always helpful and kind. Noemi, the hostess, was lovely with us and made sure that everything was on point during breakfast. She really made us feel at home. The breakfast was a feast: fine variety of food, everything we tasted was delicious from the homemade yogurts and jams to the cheese, bread and omelette. The spa is the ideal place to go and relax after a tiring ski day. We booked 1 hour and had a great time there! Thanks Grand Chalet Hotel.|We will come...
No pegamos ojo. No volveremos.
