Hotel Casa España — Hotel in Villaviciosa

Spent three nights here on a recent trip. Our room faced the square but was very quiet. It was nicely appointed. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a restaurant in the hotel and we had breakfast (included in the room rate) each morning. Rather than having your typical hotel buffet they take your order. I was suppose to stay at Casa Espana but on arrival, due to a wedding the following day, I was put up at their sister hotel, Hotel Conventin. It was unmanned but I was checked in at Casa Espana and then had to walk some way to the other hotel but go back for breakfast. I wasn’t happy with this arrangement but the room was clean with a good bathroom. We walked into town and were pleasantly surprised at the friendliness of the people and the great location of this hotel. It is on a small square with the local tourist office just across the way in another refurbished historic building. Our room here had old Spanish architectural character with heavy wooden door shutters which made sleeping easy since they blocked out street noise. I consider this hotel a gem in a small, busy town.
