When we arrived we had to wait behind the gates in the street in the heat a hour than anyone came to open the door. We rang the doorbell dozens of times and called the property's phone number many times, but no one answear. Eventually the adjacent gate opened when one of the staff left home and we entered through the kitchen. We found the person's the owner in the living room and he explained to us that she not came to open the gate because she thought we would come yesterday. I showed her the emails that I were sent to her and herself has confirmed the date of our arrival and the time of arrival. next owner is changing the explaning why the door was not opened and said that the hotel boy responsible for opening the gate was ill and sent home ...||Then she said want to credits us for the mistake and gives us a bigger room and a free dinner. But when we got to the room (which was pretty and big) We noticed that the bathroom had not cleaned. the toilet seat was dirty, the stools were still there and the floor and sinks were dirty. There were no towels. Outraged by this, we asked she for cleaning and the owner started explaining again... the explanation went on and on ... eventually he arranged for bathroom cleaning. We were really tired and disappointed with everything. We got a fish and s frozen vegetables for dinner. We had to pay for the dinner in room bill, when the first promise of a free dinner offered as a refund was not true. The next day, our room wasn't cleaned, so we asked it again when we artived to hotel. We ask for bathroom cleaning and new towels, but the owner said that since we have a bigger room therefore cleaning and towels are not included. Read moreSpent a week at this hotel for Christmas holiday, and was very pleased with the place.|The owner is an interior designer, and did a really good job with rebuilding the place, while keeping its history intact.|Everything seemed thought through, and I noticed some cool features, such as world plug adaptors built into the wall, that I haven't seen anywhere else.||The owner is friendly and easy going.||The manager, Ferdy (i probably spelt this wrong), was friendly, polite, helpful and we had some good fun conversations. He helped us out with what to see, where to eat, getting taxi's ect.|Always there to welcome us when we got back from town, or serve us Sri Lankan breakfast in the morning.||We were upgraded to a better room, free of charge, as there was construction going on right outside the room we booked.|But, the place is a bit noisy unfortunately, and you can easily hear people talking in the other rooms.||As the place is new (3 months) i got the feeling that all routines were not quite in place yet, an example of that would be routine cleaning of the rooms (our room was however cleaned as soon as we requested, so it wasn't a huge issue).||The young guy cleaning rooms and such at the hotel was nice, hard working and polite. He was quite shy when we first arrived, but he seemed more comfortable after some time. ||All in all, I would recommend staying here, and I would also stay here again, should I visit Columbo again.||On another note, not related to this specific hotel, I would probably not recommend spending a whole week in Colombo, as theres not as much to do as we hoped. I would stay there a few days and then move on to some of the other locations...
