The place is so beautiful and such a calm and serene atmosphere. On arrival Nimal immediate recieved us with a charming smile and warm welcome, handing us refreshing cold towels and a to die for cold glass of King coconut to welcome us. We had made the trek from Colombo and travelled with 4 kids and this was such a thoughtful touch I frankly did not expect at a villa, I am used to this treatment at a 5 star hotel so I was very impressed by the meticulous care of the management and the staff to look into every minute detail to make our stay relaxing and welcoming.
The villa is very comfortable, clean and luxurious, there were two double beds in one of the suites, and a large spacious bathroom with a dinning area, seperate from the room, there is a beautiful deck overlooking the lake at each suite as well. The kids were thrilled with their sleeping quarters which required them to climb a set of stairs to another double bed. The room was beautifully furnished, and I had the most relaxing comfortable stay I have ever had at a villa before.
The villa is situated on a land well over an acre. The amount of land which is spread with greenery, trees, flowers are truly soothing to many of us who live in concrete surroundings in Colombo. The children had a ball of a time in the pool, they played in it from sun up to sun down, and Nimal was very kind enough to bring our tea and cake (scrumptious, I must add) to the pool deck, this is the level of care that really elevates the experience, because we didn't even have to ask, his care and service was meticulous and timely and superb, not only that, his warm smile, and his friendly personality was an added bonus.
Dinner was again a memorable experience, the food was warm, delicious and we really enjoyed it. The kiddos enjoyed the food, doing it justice after their energetic time spend in the fantastic pool.
But the best part about Green hideaway is the tranquility! Oh Lord, I enjoyed that, above all else, so calm, so quiet, I could hear myself think and I loved that feeling. The trees, the breeze, the gorgeous land, and the well maintained luxury villa, with staff who are welcoming, hardworking and so professional, what more, can one ask for, on a excursion away from home? It was indeed, home away from home!
The breakfast again was superb. There was a video variety for breakfast from rice, to string hoppers, to bread, with all the accompaniments from fish curry, dhal curry, pol symbol (my favourite in this meal), butter and several flavours of jam for bread eaters, with hot hot milk tea, you can imagine that breakfast was a memorable and delicious affair all made by their amazing staff.
Our stay was outstanding, we will definitely be coming again. The children are already planning for their next sojourn at Green Hideaway. Thank you so much to the management and the invaluable staff for making our stay so truly remarkable...
Read moreWhere do I start..I read a lot of positive reviews before we booked this place for our family trip of 5 adults and 2 kids..The reviews did not match to what we experienced there.. We arrived on a day where it poured like cats and dogs in galle..We were really having expectations that we will be received by someone etc..but no one was even there in this place to even open the gate..it was pouring and after the care taker came we were just given the rooms..no welcome drink..no wet towels..and we were served cold tea(supposed to be hot) after we asked..There has to be a phone call for every single thing.. Yes the rooms were clean, but the service??The place to eat food, the dining area is away from the villa..it was raining and for everything we asked for dinner we got a reason along with it..and we had to go in the rain and it was dark..there were many insects as it rained..and the food was kept uncovered..Can you imagine?the food was cold..hoppers were just flat, when asked they said it was from outside..we did not prepare it fresh..slow claps..and dessert was banana..While we spoke on phone a week before booking this place the owner was very sweet and sent photos of the food they served..nothing was true to our surprise..we booked 2 rooms and regretted it..The swimming pool also was a major let down..we wanted to swim along with our kids but there was a scorpion in the pool and insects..when asked they care taker said they have to clean it..so many letdowns here..you pay so much and don't even get toiletries..?Also since the place is a lil away,no food outlets near by..we had to be dependent on the caretaker for everything.. There was no power early in the morning for about 1/2 an hour..They then switched on the generator.. Breakfast was good, but again everything left uncovered with flies sitting on the food..no juice, only cut fruits,no jam(given only when asked for),bread and egg was nice..rest all cold..and no coffee sachets..given only when asked they next day..The care taker is the only one to take care of the place and has one person helping him..it is okay if the have just one room booked..we booked 2 rooms for 2 days and were really not happy at all..Nimal was sweet but also kinda drunk on the day we arrived..when complained to the owner about not being welcomed, Nirmal comes with a rude face and asks us why we complained to the owner instead of asking him..also my son puked after the dinner that night while sleeping..we asked him to change the sheets and asked sorry as well..Nimal changed it,but also spoke sarcastically which I don't wasn't to mention here..Pls pls inform guests about what the place is before they arrive..we come with a family and didn't...

From the moment we arrived at Green Hideaway Galle, the hospitality was outstanding. The caretaker, Nimal, deserves a special mention—he was incredibly helpful and supportive throughout our stay.
We had booked a bed and breakfast package, but hadn’t planned anything for dinner. When we spoke to Nimal, he went out of his way to arrange a delicious and memorable meal for us. What made it even more special was that some of the vegetables were handpicked from the hotel’s very own garden! Thanks to him, we didn’t have to worry about a thing.
The environment was calm and peaceful—perfect for a family getaway. The garden is expansive, filled with trees and lush greenery, creating a serene atmosphere. The rooms were clean, tidy, and well-maintained. And the food? Absolutely amazing.
We felt truly cared for during our stay. Hats off to Nimal for making our experience so special. We’ll definitely be...
