APOLOGIES IN ADVANCED FOR THE LONG REVIEW. ||||As per other reviews we were welcomed very nicely into the home with cold towels and the drink by a very lovely young man who was the only nice /kind host there and he was probably the only positive thing about this place. As I walked into the accommodation I was a bit confused as it looked nothing like the photos in terms of cleanliness hence I am unsure as to why other reviews suggest the house being so clean. It was quite messy - specifically the common areas with clothes and random household items everywhere as per the photos it was not nice and neat. The common areas are very hot. In terms of the rooms again it looked nothing like the photos - maybe one or two of the rooms might look the same but the room that was originally given to us had old dirty carpet and was not comfortable at all being on the top floor it was crazy hot. Thankfully I had been given a room with the wooden floor but still was not as comfortable as I thought it would be in the pictures. The only thing that is exactly like the photos are the pictures of the open space bathrooms. The room we got was on the 2nd or 3rd floor and was incredibly hot again, even though the the air conditioner was turned on with the lowest temp possible. The room was right next to the extension of the house which was very unpleasant as all we saw were people walking around being quite noisy and clothes etc being dried. Anyway I went to meet family to which they insisted staying with them rather than staying in the villa (I wished they had suggested this prior to making the trip down to Galle but family are family) So, because of this I had to cancel my booking. I booked with booking.com and as I had only been in the property for less than an hour (we just came in dropped our bags off in the room and left) the booking.com website had the cancellation fee of 45USD. I informed the young man taking care of the property - in front of his own eyes I showed him the booking.com policy and cancelled it and it said "45 USD had been deducted from my account". Being the guest I followed the rules of the cancellation policy and proceeded to leave - at the beginning the hosts did not say anything but as we packed our car they came out yelling at us asking for more money. After we kept trying to explain that we had paid 45 USD and that we shouldn't have to pay anymore we tried to leave but the host locked us in the property (literally put a lock on the gate) so we could not leave and pulled up a tractor between our rental car and the gate. After further verbal exchanges (we tried to explain that it takes time for the payment to process etc) we came to the conclusion of speaking to booking.com directly. The representative with booking.com apologised on the host's behalf and tried to handle it with the host directly. After sometime it was explained that whatever payment I had made should have gone through to the host directly and the payment was not transferred from the guest to the host through booking.com but infact it is transferred directly from guest to host. However the host wanted the money then and there and we had to again pay 45USD to them directly via credit card as I was tired of the harassment and feared for mine and my partners safety. I understood from the Host's point of view of their frustration as they were not paid any cancellation fees immediately but that was not something I had intentionally done I just followed the system and this takes time to process. This situation could have been handled in a much more civilised way than locking us up and being held against our will. As a human being if there was some misunderstanding like this I would have made the payment later anyway. ||||All in all be very careful when dealing with villas, rooms in a personal home as you can never guarantee your own safety physically...

Read moreWe stayed here for two nights! We were welcomed with a drink in the sofa area, which was really comfy and then taken to our room, but not before being asked what we would like for dinner!!|The room was downstairs next to the kitchen area, it was a nice clean and comfortable room! Although we did have surprise visits from geckos, dragon flies and a spider, however this was probably because we were on the ground floor! |The food they gave us the first night was unbelievably tasty. It was 650 LKR which got us some Dahl, a rice dish, poppadoms, some really tasty chicken, stir fried vegetable dish, all authentic Sri Lanka dishes! For the breakfast they made fresh black tea, gave us lots of bread with and toaster on the table so you could toast it to your liking, lots of fruit and they cooked you an omelette too! |Due to the room we had it was extremely noisy through the night as it isn’t double glazed! We could hear the horns from trains and buses, there was also some construction going on near by and because we were next to the kitchen and sofa area it became noisy when more guests arrived and therefore found it tricky to sleep through! |All in all a good hotel, perhaps so just ask to be...
