I arrived in Switzerland with high hopes, but my first experience was both upsetting and disappointing. When our tour bus made a brief stop in what turned out to be a private parking area that belong to a Swiss man in this photo who is his house lived opposite the hotel immediately began shouting at us in a very aggressive manner, the bus dont even have park exactly on his parking lot so not sure why a big fuss over it. Our tour guide politely asked for just 10 minutes to unload our luggage, but instead of showing understanding, the man continued yelling, filmed us without our consent, and threatened to call the police. Shockingly, he even went to Dorint Hotel & Resort, where we were staying, to file a complaint against us.
To make matters worse, the hotel receptionist a lady with glassess at Dorint was extremely unfriendly and created unnecessary obstacles for our tour guide, perhaps after the swiss guy complianed to her? Instead of offering any assistance or professionalism especially we mentioned a wheelchair eldery is on our tour earlier and expect she can arrange a easy access for them but she give our families all the room is far away like you crossing the sea and the bridge than we can reach to the room. We felt completely unwelcome.
What was most disturbing was being filmed without our permission. In many cultures — including Switzerland — this is considered highly disrespectful and a violation of personal privacy, especially when done in a hostile manner. No one deserves to be treated this way simply for being a tourist.
Frankly, I expected more from a developed country. I would say that this experience reflects a lack of basic respect and compassion, even from someone who claimed it was their private property. When we were asking for help, all we received was hostility. There was no kindness, no empathy — only arrogance. If this is the behavior shown to visitors, then it calls into question the values being taught in this country.
I had always imagined Switzerland as a rich and friendly nation. But if this is how some Europeans treat Asian tourists, then perhaps they should reconsider how they enjoy the exceptional service and warmth they receive when visiting Asia. We welcome tourists with open arms — and yet, here we are paying a premium, only to be treated with no respect.
Yes, Switzerland has beautiful scenery and luxury goods, but no amount of views or watches can cover up the cold and unwelcoming attitude we experienced. For me, this visit was enough, I have no intention of returning.
If i can give a zero star i will be giving so, giving 1 star is been too kind for them.
If the hotel is reading this review, I just want you to know that if you dont welcome the tourist than dont take our business! I also advise you to learn at how Asian treated the European with warm hospitality and not like you cold hearted...
Read moreI'm disappointed with our stay at this hotel, while it's nice the service was unacceptable. The way they talk at the reception is strange I would say abrupt. From the moment we arrived. we had to wait an hour for the check-in (15:00) we carried our suitcases by our self to the place they indicated (after hours of travel imagine carrying suitcases )to us because they obviously bothered to have them while we waited for them to prepare our room. I asked for an iron for the clothes and I had to go by my self down two floors and and look for it in their warehouse in the garage. I asked them to call us a taxi and they gave me a card to call on my own.Their internet does not work well when I told them they told me in style that it works. I Buy a movie and we never saw it I dont know why just this service on their TV did not work and nobody told us ,I called them to let them know and the answer was abrupt that they do not have a technician and they can’t do anything. I do not understand then why they promote this service so that we can waste our money and not watch a movie at the end. from the first moment we entered the room until the time we left during our stay there was a terrible noise, children were running in the corridors, shouting, playing they were running like crazy it was terrible, was something like a playground exactly out from our room lol. I informed them on the first day but nothing happened, we were patient but ok on our last day I complained to them again. we visited their wellness center, pure tragedies.there were children were playing at the pool. towels thrown everywhere, everything was wet and in the locker room the situation was the same. We booked a massage but unfortunately my partner hit his leg at the ski and we missed the appointments. of course we paid the whole amount, they did not care anything they did not even ask if we need something or if it is ok with his health. ur stay was totally terrible we travel all over the world we have gone everywhere , hotel of this category is not allowed this service,it was not cheap. But has a great view bus station near, breakfast...
Read moreThe Dorint in Beatenberg is very good. From the beginning till the end. Upon arrival we were welcomed by a couple of friendly (and pretty) receptionists (this is by the way true for all of the staff) who guided us smoothly through the check-in process. And we were lucky, at 11 in the morning, the room was already available. And the room... well... wow! It was a 'maisonette', which means it was spread over two floors. A kitchenette (can only be used at an additional but reasonable cost), dining corner, seating area and balcony (with a view) on the lower floor and the bedroom and bathroom on the upper floor. Having so much space makes this room ideal for longer stays, business trips or cases where you have to quarantine yourself (seems to be a trend nowadays). Other facilities include: a bar (very important :-) ), a spa including a reasonable big swimming pool (pity that the water was not that warm), a play area (yes, this hotel seems to be family friendly) and a restaurant. The restaurant has two parts: the 'Stube' where meals like raclette and fondue (typically, strong smelling dishes) are served and the other part where you can choose between buffet or à la carte. We chose some à la carte dishes and concluded that the food was good value for money. Not 'haute cuisine' but that's also not to be expected in a hotel which is part of a chain. With regards to the location: Beatenberg appears to be a rather stretched out village (you'll notice if you take the bus and discover that after 20 minutes and 14 stops, you're still in Beatenberg). Also keep this in mind if you go hiking. There are many signs that lead to Beatenberg but you may end up at the other side of the village... adding a few unexpected kilometers to your hike. Anyway, the hotel is close (5 to 10 minute walk) to the funicular. Or if you prefer to come by car: there seems to be plenty of parking space. Overall, this hotel met all of our expectations and we wouldn't hesitate to go...
