Just back from 5 very pleasant nights Chez Elizabeth. ||||Booked at short notice via one of the big sites, but still got a direct email from her thanking me for my reservation.||||I speak fluent French so wasn't concerned that she doesn't advertise as speaking English and decided against ever testing her to see if she could manage a bit!||||I had a very pleasant single room on the middle floor, close to the bathroom and the kitchen, and with access to a balcony with a lovely view at sunset.||||Breakfast is basic (cereal, bread / toast, jam, fruit juice, tea / coffee) but perfectly satisfactory and certainly matched my needs. I also had a kettle in my room, which also allowed me to do the odd packet of noodles in the evening.||||Wifi was fast and strong, but I think I was probably in the room next to the hub.||||Whilst the main areas of the house were warm, the room itself wasn't heated as the electric heater wasn't on. I was given the option of it, but didn't need it and preferred to leave my room door open and allow some of the heat from the stone furnace to gently heat it.||||Whilst I had a 5* experience there, partially due to being the only guest for all but one of the nights, there are a few things for others to consider.||||Firstly, I believe there is only one shower-room between the 3 guest rooms (2 of which are doubles and are situated downstairs) and this is adjacent to the single room on the middle floor. So, noise from it and access to it might affect others more than it did me.||||Secondly, whilst I was able to walk from Le Chable train station on arrival and from the gondola each evening, no matter what route I took, I found it quite an effort and I'm a snowboarder, so I don't envy skiers doing the same in their boots. If I stayed there again, I might consider the option of a locker at the gondola or in Verbier.||||Thirdly and finally, you don't have access to other areas of the house, so this really is just a place to rest your head, or hang out in your room if you're on your own and happy doing so.||||There are a few restaurants / eating options within short walking distance and a Migros supermarket which was a definite plus.||||I would obviously still recommend staying there, but am conscious that it wouldn't necessarily be right for...
Read moreWe booked 2 rooms for a weekend stay in October 2021. The rooms are in the basement and were cold as the electric heaters do not work well and created bad smell when turned on. There is only 1 small batheroon on the ground floor to share among 3 rooms (max guest up to 6 persons) - so not ideal. The breakfast is very basic and way below usual Swiss standard with toast and tea /coffee on offer. Overall disappointing and did not meet our expectations - given the cost of the...
Read moreThe place is in a very nice location , easily walkable to the gondola with skis down a short hill. The house is nice and we had our own entrance downstairs, included a simple breakfast but the room, while spacious..well, the beds were two single, very slim and creaky. We only stayed 3 nights and actually I got at least 2 nights of good sleep but it was a bit below our expectations coming from a wonderful apartment in zermatt.||While there is wifi it was...
