Le Giétroz — Restaurant in Val de Bagnes

My ski buddy and I stayed here for 6 days at the end of January. We booked at short notice due to access problems to France due to Covid. Very pleased with our trip. Hotel staff very friendly and very good service throughout our stay. Room was large though basic but comfortable, clean and warm - nearly too warm as we turned heating off every night. As we booked directly with hotel breakfast was included. Cold breakfast only but great choice, fresh bread and croissants, cereals, yoghurt, some cold meats and cheese, and small selection of fruit. Range of juices and hot drinks. More than ample for a day on the mountains.||We booked in advance to have dinner on 3 nights - truly excellent and very good value and highly recommend - some of the best food I’ve recently eaten.||Boot driers in hallway as is ski storage. Should also mention their high speed wifi which was v impressive.||Hotel is 8-10 minute walk to the gondola station (which is beside the train station). ||Not much going on in Le Chable but that suited us - we had great meal in next door Pizza restaurant (Pont du ????) and in L’Authentic restaurant ( very nice meal) and also ate at the Pub/bar on route to the main square ( okay meal only). Nice pizza in the cafe on the main square on our last day while waiting for our train. Gondola does stay open to quite late if you wanted to have some more life in thriving Verbier.||Overall a great trip, really enjoyed our hotel and some great skiing in Verbier and...

The hotel is excellent value for the money. Though the rooms are basic (as expected given the price) all the essentials work - great hot water and bathtub en-suite, fast Wi-Fi, friendly service, and a suitable breakfast. ||The hotel is a family run operation and offers a local feeling stay in the Verbier area. ||The location is outstanding - just a few minutes walk to the Le Chable Gondola (which runs 5 am to midnight into Verbier and continues direct to the mountaintop when the resort is open) and train. In addition, a Migros grocery and pharmacy are just downstairs. Ideal for a frugal ski trip. ||The half board menu was additionally excellent value for money. This must be booked in advance, but includes excellent food which was a highlight. ||The only area for improvement would be the pillows on the bed. They seemed a bit old, and the hotel would do well to invest...
