Afei Surf sup — Hotel in Hengchun

Afei's hostel and surf school is a must stop spot when visiting the Kending area of Taiwan. Its relaxed atmosphere, ideal location and wide range of rooms (from private to affordable hostel dorms) provides everything needed to a wide range of travelers looking for a place to relax, renergise, soak up a bit of sunshine and learn to surf (lessons and board rental available to all levels of surfers). There is also a seafood restaurant linked to the hostel which serves extremely fresh sea food as well as other non seafood options. The icing on the cake however has to be the staff that work there! They where extremely helpful to me and eager to assist in helping any of the guests staying there to set up surf lessons (great teachers too!) arrange taxis or answer any questions regarding the local area and sights/locations to visit and see. Lead by the larger then life character that is Afei, the main man himself, it is not uncommon to find him and a few of the staff hanging around the bar/restaurant in the evening socialising with the guests, assuring that a great time is had by all and providing the best of hospitality!

I stayed at the hostel for four nights in a private room. It was very spacious, very clean and nicely decorated. I also participated in a surfing lesson through the surf school linked to the hostel and I was very pleased with the results (managing to stand up on the board for the first time thanks to the guidance teachings of the surf teachers there!).

I cannot wait for the next time I am in Taiwan and will get to visit the Afei...

대만 컨딩 아페이(afei) 서핑샵 사장님의 매우 실망스러운 안전 의식에 대해서 리뷰를 남깁니다.

지난해 연말 휴가를 대만 컨딩 아페이(afei)에서 보내기 위해 오래전부터 기대감을 가지고 방문했습니다.

오전 수업 후 오후 자유 서핑 중 사고가 일어났습니다. 시작전부터 낙후된 장비와 접착성이 떨어지는 리쉬 줄이 살짝 걱정되긴 했지만, 수업 중에는 문제가 없었던지라 가볍게 생각하고 서핑을 탔습니다. (찍찍이 부분도 2중으로 되어있음)

하지만, 수심이 깊고 파도가 쎈 곳에서 통돌이를 당하며 줄이 풀려 나갔고, 빠르게 줄을 당기려 했지만 이미 발목의 줄은 풀려 보드는 떠내려간 상태였습니다.

순간 정말 너무 겁이 났고, 당황하다보니 허우적거리며 물을 잔뜩 먹었네요. 다행히도 수영을 할줄 알아 파도를 타고 해안가쪽으로 나올 수 있었네요. 밖에 나오니 겁을 먹어 그런지 다리까지 후덜거렸구요..

이 상황을 저녁 개인 피드백 시간에 사장님께 전달드렸습니다. 다른 사람들이 들으면 불편해 하실수도 있을 것 같아 주변에 아무도 없을 때 말씀드렸구요.

"정말 무서웠다. 다른 고객들을 위해서라도 모든 리쉬 줄들을 다시 한번 체크해봐야할 것 같다. 함께 온 여자친구는 수영을 못하는데, 만약 제 여자친구가 그 리쉬 줄을 사용했으면 큰일날뻔 했을거다" 라고 전했습니다.

사장님 답변이 정말.. 너무나 어이가 없더군요. 아직도 화가 나네요. 한토시도 틀리지 않고 아래와 같이 답했습니다.

"이런 일은 일어날 수 있는 일이다. 안전 및 이용 규칙에 대해서 확인하지 않았냐? 내일부터 이용 규칙 동의 서명하고 타라."

"그리고 너가 말한대로 만약 내일 여자친구에게 같은 문제가 생긴다면, 어떻게 할거냐?"

'우리에게 책임을 물을 것이냐' 는 어조로 답하더군요.

여자친구도 화가 나서 중국어로 답했습니다. (중국 회사에서 일을하여 중국어를 할줄 압니다)

"생명과 관련된 일이다. 사과 한마디면 되는 일이고, 줄을 다시 체크해보겠다고만 말하면 되는 일이다. 지금 무슨 말을 하는거냐?"

저 역시 영어로, "고객으로서 전달하는 내용이다. 여기 사장이라면 신경써야할 부분이다. 다른 고객, 특히 한국인들에게 이런 사고가 일어나지 않길 바래서 전달하는 것이다." 라고 말을해도 정말 4~5번은 똑같은 말만 계속 반복해서 답을 하더군요.

사장 말에 따르면, 한국 업체인 서프온리(surf only)와 아페이는 거의 같은 업체(almost same)로 보면 된다고 말했었습니다.

오전에보니 한국분들이 아페이로 많이 넘어오시더라구요. 장비도 같은걸 쓰고 강습도 같이 받았구요.

서프온리에 피해를 끼치고 싶은 마음은 전혀 없습니다. 다만 서프온리를 이용하여 아페이에서 강습받는 분들에게 피해가 없기를 바라는 마음에 장문의 리뷰를 남깁니다.

결국 저희는 남은 일정을 다 취소하고 돌아왔네요. 나오면서 직원분에게 메시지를 남기고 왔는데 그분이 대신 사과를 하시더라구요.

직원분들, 청소, 음식 준비하시는분들은 정말 친절합니다. 숙소 상태도 청결하고 괜찮았습니다.

사장(강사)의 안전의식 때문에 대만에서 최악의 연말을 보냈네요. 제 리뷰가 아페이를 선택하려는 분들에게 도움이 되길 바랍니다.

台湾垦丁Afei冲浪店发生了安全绳（Leash）脱落的事故。

我在此留下对Afei冲浪店老板极其令人失望的安全意识的评价。

我满怀期待地来到台湾垦丁Afei冲浪店，计划在这里度过年末假期。

上午上完课程后，下午自由冲浪时发生了事故。虽然一开始就对老旧的装备和粘性较差的安全绳有些担心，但因为之前冲浪时从未遇到问题，所以并未太在意，便下水冲浪了。

然而，在水深且浪大的地方遭遇水下翻滚（Wipeout）时，安全绳松脱了。我试图迅速拉回冲浪板，但发现脚踝上的绳子已经解开，冲浪板被冲走了。

那一瞬间我真的非常害怕，慌乱之下拼命挣扎，呛了不少水。幸运的是，我会游泳，所以慢慢顺着浪游回了岸边。上岸后，由于惊吓过度，双腿还在发抖……

晚上个人反馈时间时，我向老板说了这个情况。为了避免让其他客人感到不适，我特意选择在周围无人时与他交谈。

我对他说：“真的太可怕了。为了大家的安全，建议你们重新检查所有的安全绳。我女朋友不会游泳，如果她用的是这根安全绳，后果将不堪设想。”

老板的回答真的……让我非常无语，现在回想起来仍然很生气。他一字不差地回答道：

“这种事情是可能发生的。你没有确认过安全及使用规则吗？从明天开始，你们必须签署使用规则同意书才能冲浪。”

老板再说：“如果按照你说的，明天你的女朋友遇到了同样的情况，那你打算怎么办？”

他的语气明显是在暗示：“你们是想把责任推给我们吗？”

我的女朋友也生气地用中文反驳道

“这关乎生命安全！你只需要道个歉，并承诺重新检查安全绳就可以了，你现在到底在说什么？”

我也用英语说道：“我是作为顾客在向你反馈。作为店主，这是你应该关心的问题。我只是希望这种事故不要发生在其他客人，特别是韩国人身上。” 然而，无论我如何解释，他都只是不断重复相同的几句话，至少重复了四五次。

据老板所说，韩国的Surf Only和Afei几乎是同一家店。

上午看到很多韩国人来到Afei，使用相同的装备，接受相同的培训。

我完全没有想给Surf Only带来任何负面影响。只是希望通过Surf...
