Still looks nice for 17yo hotel, though some areas showing aging, like entertainment space in basement, old/slow/small elevators, grime/corrosion in bathroom. I'm not quite sure why even such a room is much more than 3000nt/100usd tho, except for just dumb customers, or image monkeys, that do not know what things did/could/should cost, as there is no real privileged euro/colonial "luxury" anymore, only matters of convenience/efficiency. A large modern looking room with balcony on seaside across the highway, but view mostly broken by trees, &balcony has warning about opening door bc of too many mosquitos. The mountain facing side in most kenting hotels usually is prettier. Good size bathroom with large bathtub &doors. Small shower though, getting too small for someone ~180cm/6', &only a little hand wand, no rainshower. Large comfortable beds &comforter, but pillows are week &flatten. Good curtain on patio glass doors blocked out daylight. Large tv with lots of global communism of western/usa emulation &endless growth economics media playing. Wifi was good with no password or damn portal login. There's some off brand smart home box that could ask for service, weather, change channels, etc, but "Hello AI" never worked. Is it Al like Albert, or is it A.I., I don't know, none worked anyway? Mini fridge with free sober drinks, &snack chips. Rarely heard road noise, or noise from other rooms or hallway for that matter. Although there's the typical hypocrisy of "saving the plant" since 1965 usa science advisory on climate (with more people, things, immigration growth), entry doors still do not have basic green/eco controls like door seals. The central aircon set at 23c stayed cool, but portable room dehumidifier stayed over 70% even after blocking door with towels. Don't they know a sealed room can keep cool feeling &use least electricity using low speed dehumidify only 24/7? Like most places outside euros-americas, insulation &sealing are apparently non-existent, little electricity conservation effort, &no water saving fixtures either despite Taiwan govt/industry/media every year claiming water shortage. Of course the largest 13MW wind turbine placed every km around all of TW wont make up for closing one 1.5GW x2 nuclear plant; just ensure its built correctly like Fukushima #2 site, like above design tsunami height, ¬ built too low for cost cutting like Fukushima #1 just up the coast! Nice big pool in center of U shape hotel. Large buffet, decent selection, but not really worth more than a 600nt/$20usd price. Certainly in a place with finally able to claim "saving the plant" lowering population, along with all systems &things more efficient every day for generations, prices of everything should also be going down right? Mini 7-11 vending in basement, but better still vote for obsolete since 1960s usa leftist model globalist communist fascist big corp govt righteousness &cool things promised to mindless/youth/new/foreign minds- political party, or they might shut down your kenting mini 7-11 too. Also has basement kids play area slides, ballpit, pingpong, etc. No arcade games or pinball too bad. You probably have to park in the back far away from front entry, there is no path or back entry into hotel. Nor most eco/green scooter parking, except on main road apparently. All the closest spaces are for new globalist remarketed 1900's technology <10yr planned lifespan "luxury" electric vehicles of western transfer of wealth, tech, jobs, to low regulation/oversight corrupt artificial foreign economy manufacturing for more more more &illusions of progress. You'd think the oldest, smallest, simplest, least global dependent, vehicles would get front row parking? No, But this is the nicest "newer" hotel with large rooms close to a good little beach &short walk to kenting shops...
Read morePerhaps in Caesar's early days it qualified as a 5-star hotel, but now it certainly is not. The place is far too dated, with many areas in need of a renovation. Service is also only mediocre, not at all reaching the 5-star standard we have seen at other fancy hotels in Taiwan. Some main points about our stay from Friday, May 4th to Sunday, May 6th:
Pros: Room facing pool area and trees with balcony is great, with doors open and a nice evening breeze; the room is a great place to relax in. The pool has a deep-end (3 m) and diving board both highly unusual for Taiwan; also, you can swim without a cap and no one will force you to wear tight-fitting swim trunks. The beach is nice and very close, a little bay with good sand, never has waves, and no drop off so it's a great spot for kids who are learning to swim. Location is very handy to night market street, so you can eat and drink many different things if you want some evening entertainment. The children's playroom is pretty good, with a big ball pool and a play house.
Cons: When driving in we were encouraged just to go park in the lot (rather than drop off bags first). But parking is a considerable walk to the front doors, over a very broken parking lot - this was not a good introduction to our first stay at Caesar Park. (Would we have been treated better if we pulled up in a black Mercedes?) Checking in and checking out was a cold experience with limited or no eye contact. Other nice hotels treat you in a special way, offering a drink, a bit of conversation, etc. This felt more like we were at the cashier at a grocery store. My wife had a shower on our first night, and discovered mid-shower there was no shampoo. She was alone so had to get out and call room service. We ordered a Caesar salad to our room, it was delivered without plates or extra utensils. We had to call back and wait to have someone bring these items. The salad was good though. Similarily, we had a nice pot of tea while watching live music in the cafe area. It was served with only one cup for 3 people. I had to go to the counter to ask for more cups. At the pool, guests can use towels but they must be signed out and returned when done using. This seems moot as these towels are so ugly, rough, and old, it would be hard to imagine someone wanting to take one home. The games in the playroom are coin operated; this seems a bit cheap for this kind of hotel, they should be free. While the buffet breakfast was quite good on our first day, the second day's offerings were borderline gross, with very strange fresh juice choices. Our balcony door broke on the second day such that it was locked closed; it simply looked too old. Luckily it was fixed within an hour or so. Room and hallways are pretty scuffed up, and corners of room and under the bed have years-old hair and dust. Use a vacuum? Caesar Park is overpriced for what it is. There are comparable choices nearby at lower prices, you might try those. (For example the Howard next door, or Chateau down the road.) On our first night, there were a group of people playing around and talking loudly by the pool past midnight. It took quite some time for staff to notice and ask...
Read moreWe visited Kenting for 3 days in mid-July. The weather was actually a bit cooler than in Taipei, but still plenty warm and muggy. The hotel is A LOT. A resort with beach access (albeit down a paved ~800 meter trail), basically one decent sized pool, and 2.5ish restaurants. We took the free shuttle from the Zuoying High Speed Rail station in Kaohsiung, which is a little over 2 hours. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a “Caesar Jones” sign with an Indiana Jones silhouette and a jeep. Turns out, “Caesar Jones” was a motif throughout the hotel - treasure chests, cobras, adventures.||The resort/rooms appears to have recently undergone renovations as our room was fairly up to date looking. We had a jacuzzi spa room, which is basically a normal first floor room with two Queen sized beds, and an attached patio with a large outdoor bathtub. Sadly, the jets for our jacuzzi were not working. The room itself was clean and had free snacks (chips, Oreos) every day, as well as free drinks in the mini fridge. Oh, and it had a baby animal mural on the bedroom wall, and an assortment of balloon and flower murals on the garden patio walls. Interesting decor choices.||In addition, there is a decently sized kids’ play area and a Rec area with a few pool tables and ping pong tables in the basement. Kept the kids entertained for a couple hours each day when it was too hot to be outside.||The breakfast buffet was fine - nothing amazing, but not horrible. A lot of simple carbs. Kids liked it. The dinner buffet was also passable, but for the price, you could probably do better elsewhere. ||Overall, a kitschy hotel that is good for families with young children. I would not want to be here if I didn’t have kids or was looking for a...
