I booked this Hotel with the expectation of it being 5 Stars. All in all, the location was great, it was secluded and offered great views of Yilan. Transportation that was provided (at cost to us) was convenient and they were willing to pick us up from Taipei City which made it accessible. The Hotel facilities were plentiful and offered a lot for both adults and children of all ages. Room was clean and the Hot Tub in the room was great. Last thing, the drivers that drove the shuttle around town were amazing and would not only do a quick tour of the town, but would also go out of their way (when they could) to drop us off at locations that would be more convenient for us. The hotel offers customers use of their facilities up until 6pm the following day which worked for us as we wanted to escape from the families that checked in on the Saturday and left the following day. However, that's where the good part of the review ends. Perhaps it was that we booked over a Weekend, however it seemed like the hotel staff were not as friendly as the Drivers that drove the shuttles over the weekend. Although the check-in lady was nice, the staff at the restaurant weren't as friendly. As it may have been a busy weekend, my wife and I were seated in the "Meeting Hall" for our dinner. Although it was positioned to us that we would be further away from the buffet, I didn't realise how far we were seated until we have to pass through a corridor, exit the restaurant and be seated in a room that is meant to host company functions. (you could tell by how bright the lights were turned on and the projector in the front of the room) . Our server was insistent in taking away the plate that were used for the Shrimp shells without asking if we were done on 4 occasions. At the time my wife and I had a plateful of shrimp that we were peeling. Second, about the food - most of the hot food is served just below room temperature, so by the time we got back to our seat (in the meeting room) it was cold. Third, if you go on a weekend be prepared for the long lines at the buffet. For dinner the selection is ok by 5 star hotel standards, there weren't any empty trays and they were willing to restock when the hotplates ran out. On the Sunday morning, we booked a time slot for breakfast. Came down on time and still needed to wait at the bar for 15 mins before they could help us with a table. As for selection of food for the breakfast slot, there is plenty of food so you won't go hungry. At the same time, don't expect too much with selection of fruits or from the western menu. Facilities - For Gentlemen, you will be fine. All parts of the Sauna, Change Rooms were in good condition. For my Wife, she felt that the women's pool area change room was not left in a good condition. The other areas were up to standard. In the end, I believe that this may have "once" been a really great hotel. However for the price they charge now and for what you get in terms of price, service and facilities, there is definitely better value for money elsewhere in the area. We paid close to $17000NTD or close to $570 USD per night for our stay, but definitely did not get our money's worth through this experience. For 5 Stars, there is a lot to be...

We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Royal JiaoXi (礁溪) Taiwan, and it exceeded all expectations!

Upon entering the huge and spacious lobby, you're greeted by a tea shop selling authentic Taiwanese tea, along with a stall offering a delightful variety of souvenirs, including locally made clothing, jewelry, bags, and more.

There’s even a cozy cafe with fantastic breads, pastries, coffee, cocktails, and after 1pm, they serve delicious light bites like sandwiches and braised beef noodles—truly authentic Taiwan flavors!

The B1 level is another gem, featuring a shop with high-end jewelry, aromatherapy essentials, swimwear, and more. It’s also where you’ll find their game room, table tennis, pool table, gym, and hot spring pool. My partner and I spent hours enjoying these facilities—perfect for a fun, relaxing time together. Their booking counter for spa and massage services is too located at B1. However, do remember to book in advance.

They also have many other outdoor hot springs pools with different effects such as herbal pool and beauty pools. Recommend to have a soak or swim in their pool. The view is really good.

The room we stayed in was beautiful, featuring an in-room hot spring water bathtub, so you can soak in the hot springs without leaving your room. The cozy living room included complimentary Taiwanese tea and snacks, and the mini-bar was also free! The bed was incredibly comfortable, with pillows of just the right density (though you might need to request more if needed since there is only 3 pillows provided). Charging port and sockets is available on both side of the bed for your electronic gadgets! That's always a plus point.

The room amenities were excellent—high-quality shower gel and shampoo with refreshing scents. I loved the Japanese-style Yukata, which you can wear all around the hotel, including to meals or the spa. The service was impeccable, with the staff being attentive and friendly, managing the bustling hotel efficiently.

The package we choose is a half-board (dinner and breakfast). We are spoilt with the big varieties of food. They have section for western cuisine, Taiwanese cuisine, seafood (which they are super generous with the sashimi, really thick cut), dessert and many many more! Most importantly the food taste superb! The speed of toping up the foods is really fast too!

Another great feature is the laundry room, where they provide washing powder. Each wash costs just 50 TWD, and drying is 10 TWD per 10 minutes—perfect for longer stays like ours!

Overall, a fantastic experience—Hotel Royal JiaoXi is a must-visit for a luxurious, comfortable, and relaxing getaway! Highly...

Hotel Royal Chiao Hsi is the perfect relaxing spot for an escape from the hectic lifestyle. As first timers, we were very amazed by the service provided by the staff and the amount of things we are able to do during our style. The hotel even assisted to provide hiking sticks and pack a breakfast bento for us after knowing we will be attempting to climb 抹茶山. We were truly grateful for the hiking sticks during the climb. We find 2 nights at Hotel Royal Chiao Hsi a bit too short and we will definitely be back. Location 4/5 The location is far away from the town but this can be easily solved by the services provided by the hotel. There is a 2-way free shuttle bus service from the hotel to the town. You just need to inform them an hour in advance. To reach the hotel, you can pay for their transfer service: Taipei Main Station M3 to Hotel: 12:45 or 16:00 Hotel Royal-Nikko Taipei to Hotel:13:00 or 16:20 Hotel to Taipei Main Station M3: 11:15 or 14:15 The service is wonderful and convenient for those who do not want to hassle of booking their own transport. Cleanliness: 5/5 The room does not look dated despite the age of the hotel. The room is very clean upon arrival with no stains. the aroma and the cleanliness of the room provides a perfect atmosphere to chill and relax in the hotel. Room facilities: 5/5 The room is well equipped with the needed necessities. there was even an area for us to put our luggage and laundry. The layout of the toilet is quite spacious and well thought out. The hot spring is truly magnificent for a hot spring bath. Hotel facilities 4.8/5: There was many facilities and activities in the hotel. it was quite overwhelming for first timer like us. there is open-air spa, gym, sand pit for kids, pool table, switch room to name a few. At night, there will be performances as well. There are so much things happening that we didn't have time to travel out of the hotel.
