The previous review of this place prompted me to write this review. Whilst I agree with a lot of what was written, it wasn't quite fair in my opinion as this hotel has some really good points too.||||Firstly, the room. The rooms were not amazing and the initial room we were offered was small and dated and smelt of cigarette smoke. The second room we were offered was still small but not smelly, very functional and had a really comfy bed and very good, quiet aircon. The sound proofing was also pretty good. ||||The rooftop spa: Having been to spas all over the world the most important things for me in a spa are water cleanliness and the temperatures being hot/cold enough. This pool is on the rooftop but as other buildings have been built around it, it does not have the vista's I imagine it once had (though you can see some of the hills). However, the pools are emptied daily, cleaned and filled with fresh water, hence they don't open until 4pm (close at 11pm). They are very clean! The spas are also closed on Saturdays which is worth knowing if you are doing a one night trip. The main spa is made of traditional wood not a modern plastic version and has jacuzzi pumps which all work well, the temperature is perfect, about 33-35 degrees, The second pool is small and looks a bit grubby but the water is clean and around 16-18 degrees which is ideal after the hot one.||||Location. Its not in the centre. Its on the way to the waterfall at the opposite end to Jiaoxi Hot Spring Park, however it is directly on the shuttle bus route or about a 1km walk to the Centre. We never found this an issue even with our 6 month old baby.||||Other options: There are loads of hotels in Jiaoxi, (more than you think are possible to fill), there are newer ones with neon signs showing their price and pictures of larger rooms, they are better located too. Having said that, we found this hotel comfortable enough to stay a second night. Details like shells used to decorate the walls showed that this place was loved once and better built than some of the newer places.||||Breakfast is a voucher for next door and is pretty uninspiring.||||I would not use a booking website. Turn up and negotiate as there is far more supply than demand and it would be pointless paying agent fees for inflated prices. For around £30 this is a decent place but check your room first.||||Tip: we stayed on 5th floor which did not have the cigarette smell the other reviewer mentioned, however as it's on the same floor as the spas it was a little noisy until 11pm on the first night when other guests...
Read moreLocation:||- it is really just a motel, don't expect too much.||- location is not central and the motel provides free bicycle rental. we used it to get around and the ride took around 10-15mins to get to the main area where you can find food, coffee, necessities and some basic shopping.||||Room:||- the room isnt what it looks like in the hotel, it looks dated and small. there is a renovation happening right opposite our room and we could hear everything.||- the bathroom where the hot tube is supposed to be looks old and uninviting, not sure if it is even clean. the shower head has no holder so you've to hold on to it when you shower which is really inconvenient. it is really a tiny bathroom to satisfy basic human needs. we did not bother using the hot-tube in the room, really uninviting.||- the bed is super hard, like floor hard and the pillow is really thin, like paper thin. ||- they provide hair-dryer and basic toiletries and while it can get quite cold in Jiaoxi there isnt a heater in the room.||||Rooftop Hot-tub (which was the key reason why we booked this place):||- was really attracted by the rooftop hot tube, but when we went up it was really depressing, the whole environment is just sad.||||- there are a lot taller buildings around which means people can look at you soaking in the hot tub. ||||- it is not the motel's practice to provide extra towel for guests using the hot tub, receptionist expect us to use the same bath towel in the room to dry ourselves as the hot tub, not to mentioned there is no bathrobe either. she wasn't the happiest to give us an extra towel but we got it anyway.||||Breakfast Experience:||- breakfast is in collaboration with a eatery nearby, it is not on the motel ground. so you'll have to cross the street and walk a couple of mins to get food.||||Conclusion: Unless you're on a tight budget, we do not recommend this motel! While riding around, we thought there are so many modern decent looking inns-alike that are more central. Not coming...
Read moreA very good hotel as its Shower water is actually Hotspring water and it's clean. Compared to other hotel their Hotspring water is greyish and leaving rusty color on the walls. It's also conveniently located near 7-Eleven, self-serve laundry & some restaurants (including a late-night Taiwanese restaurant). Service is good here. Rooms is spacious, nice & clean and toilet has a bathtub for your very own private hotspring. The staff were helpful and extremely caring. Thanks to their tips where raincoat is available at 7-Eleven hence I was able to cycle back to Taipei. One of the machine (dehumidifier/air purifier) in the room wasn't working...
