This hotel is great for families who don’t plan to leave the resort area. Downtown is about 30min away. For families, it’s easy to spend the entire day doing activities like swimming pool, play house, amusement park. Even the shopping mall has a lot of kids activities like arcades, gyms, driving cars and multiple toy stores. There’s a “flea market” area which is a lot of vendors for food, arcade games, clothing and gift shops. These stores don’t open until 3pm. Until then, the area between the two mall buildings looks like an abandoned town.
Layout of hotel and surrounding attractions is confusing. There are two mall buildings (only one of them has a food court), amusement park, flea market and probably other shopping that I never reached. From the hotel you can take shuttle or walk to each of these. For walking you need to walk outside to take an elevator to a bottom floor then walk an overpass to the flea market plaza and then there is a mall building in left (with Ferris wheel on top) and another mall building to the right (connected to amusement park). The two mall buildings are also connected underground with more shopping. And you can walk to the mall which has a connector to the amusement park entrance. Similarly within the hotel, getting to attractions requires navigating.. to go to the indoor pool area, play house, entertainment area (pool table, ping pong, arcade games) you need to walk through the hotel hallways, exit the building and go to the next building to the indoor pools. From there you take an elevator up to the play house/entertainment area.
Kids playhouse you need to wear socks to enter. Also be mindful of the cleaning/maintenance hours. We went to the playhouse but had been turned away because we needed socks and by the time we came back, the play house was closed for cleaning. The kids were very disappointed.
The rooms are a bit outdated. I don’t think it was worth the price I paid for my stay (over $270 USD per night). Room was very dark, not many lights. We had a themed room for the kids. It was nice that it had kids toys for them to play with, one kid bed, and kid table and bean bag chairs. I noted two kids were staying but received room with 1 kid bed. Kids bed mattress wasn’t very comfortable. I wasn’t able to adjust thermostat, seems set to 25C. No step stools for kids to reach sink. Bathroom area is inconvenient with a door to toilet, door to shower. Free amenities like kids soaps, slippers, toothbrush was nice. Breakfast buffet was included with a variety of Chinese and Western foods. They gave us vouchers for breakfast and let us choose early or late breakfast meal times. Highly recommend attending the early breakfast time and arriving at least 30min before the end. The later setting was served in another dining room with less options and tables/chairs weren’t as kid friendly.
This was an interesting experience. Likely would not come back to stay at this hotel as I didn’t see the value given how much we paid. But would come for a day trip to the mall and flea...
Read moreThe hotel was a nice stay. We got a 2 bed delux and a single king suit. Both were spacious and comfortable. Both had full sized bathrooms, a bathtub and shower. Both rooms had king size bed that were comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. The king suit had a curtain into a large master bathroom with a balcony.
The hotel it self had many amenities, there was an outdoor pool with a water slide. (For reference im about 160cm and the water in the deep end was at my stomach and the shallow end at my hips) the indoor spa pool had many high pressure water spots to massage your back, as well as relaxing warm water. My complaint about the pool was the water in the water slide, I frequently would have to nudge myself through the slide even if I followed all the requirements. The lifeguard seemed a bit pre occupied and paid less attention to the outdoor pool and slide. No one was up at the top of the slide to watch how people went down.
Other amenities of the hotel were a sauna, archery range, spa, lots of shops, and restaurant.
The dinner restaurant had a great variety of food choices, pasta, beef, soup, shrimp, sushi, fried foods, ice creams, candy, teas, soda, and a salad bar. Most food was good but was lacking a bit. The sushi was so so. The meet was a bit fatty and a tad undercooked. The pasta was amazing! Although I didn’t get to try everything the other food looked well prepared and good to eat. The same opinion stayed for the morning buffet, the eggs were very runny and didn’t have much seasoning. Otherwise the food selection was large and mostly very good. In 2023 a mask is still required to get the food however they will provide paper masks or normal masks if you don’t have any.
Additionally there is mall and theme park about 10 minutes walk. These do not come with the hotel and are bought separately, they do have lots of deals that they mention when your...
Read moreStayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed the experience. It is a plush hotel with a grand entrance and quality finish. Well maintained and value for money. Staff speak good English and are very helpful, from reception to concierge desk to housekeeping staff. Free buffet breakfast (with a massive amount of food that can keep you going all day :-) ) this was the place to stay in the Dashu district. Our room was clean and spacious, free WiFi worked well and was fast enough for FaceTime chats with the family and easy to connect to. There are several restaurants on the premises with different specialties as well as a number of (mainly) tourist shops on the ground floor. There is a pool, gym, sauna and other facilities for free use as well as a fountain that is lit up at night with music-synchronised shows and a massive screen with cartoons for the kids to watch. There is a bus that can take you to and from the HSR to the hotel (bus 8501) for new to nothing and runs about every half hour. You also get a free voucher to ride the big ferris wheel located across the road on top of the shopping mall. And if you're into shopping it's also across the road from a massive multi storey outlet shopping mall. Mainly clothes and shoes but lots of name brands. There is also a theme park located a short distance away for the kids (didn't visit there but it looked popular when we passed it in a taxi). If you need to be in this part of Kaohsiung then this is the place to stay, or just want to get away from the busy part of town but still be close enough to easily and cheaply travel...
