This is a very nice hotel, admiringly, but I can’t help to type this review as I just left the hotel minutes ago.||This is a night’s stay and it’s more than enough. ||Room is nice and quiet, got very comfy sleep and it’s spacious. The infrastructure is good. Location is not really central.||What pulled them down is the service. 9.2 on Booking? Their service is atrocious. At point of check in I asked for the receipt to be in my partner’s name they said okay, unwillingly but at point of check out they said they could not change the name. Gave us a piece of paper that says he had been here. Already told them we need it in English they still gave us in Chinese. Asked them why and they gave us the wth is happening face. Such a simple request and they can’t even do it. The front desk staffs have extremely awful, unaccommodating, unwilling, unhelpful tone and anything out of their SOP they can’t do it. I can’t stand service industry people giving this sort of attitude.||Asked for a plate and chopstick - half of the hotel staffs can’t speak English. The guy who sent it, expected me to give a fee which I did not so he stood for a while before I shut the door. ||Breakfast selection is good but a lot of those choices doesn’t taste very good. ||I can’t speak very good Mandarin so they gave me that kind of response. Clearly they do not want international guests to stay here? Treat your guests...
Read moreJust checked in to The Walden today and I thought I would give a review upon check-out. But the hotel spared no efforts in reminding you of the numerous awards they have under their belt, and they rightfully deserved them.
It is situated in an unassuming neighbourhood, but the lush interior decoration sets makes me feel like I entered a whole new worls upon entering the lobby. My wife walked away from the check-in counter with a stack of coupons and recommendation for family friendly activities. The family-oriented culture of the hotel can be seen from having kid-friendly no-tear shampoo to having smaller bedroom slippers just for the kids. All these are beyond the facilities that they have for children on Level 2 which encompasses a ball-pit, a slide, some lego blocks, kitchen toys, arcade-style basketball machine and for the dads (and mums) a Daytona-like driving simulator while he children are having their fun.
The personalized service also include a welcome page with the name of the guest's name on it.
Now I finally have a sense of what clinching all those...
Read moreWe stayed one night in Yilan at the Walden and had the most excellent customer service from the minute we checked in. The front desk staff was especially helpful and made us feel like family. Our 13 year old daughter and 8 year old son enjoyed the books, and everyone was happy to see there were English language books as well. Although my son didn't have a chance to go to the staffed playroom, we peaked in and it looked fun with toys to play with and on. My husband and I enjoyed the beautiful decor and the antiquities displayed in the lobby. Our rooms were very comfortable and quiet, with a lovely view of the mountains. The breakfast was amazing with a wide selection of delicious eastern and western dishes, and all beautifully presented. We also had the pleasure of speaking with the owner of the hotel and had an enjoyable chat about both western and eastern novels. I'm looking forward to reading some of his recommendations! Thank you to everyone at the Walden for making us feel most welcome. We will definitely return when we visit...
