Kamao Hotel — Hotel in Arusha

It's always hard to gauge the quality of a hotel when it's in a different market than you're used to... that said, the hotel was safe and secure, with friendly and accommodating staff who helped make the stay comfortable. The food was good but not great.||||The rooms were a mix of clean and not - in both rooms I stayed in, the shower had drainage issues and leaked onto the bathroom floor.||||Wifi was spotty during each of the three days I stayed here, and power was out for parts of two of the three days as well.||||The staff were probably the highlight, helping me store my bags when I was away on a safari, helping arrange a tour guide into town, and coordinating a taxi to the airport.||||Overall I'd recommend this a viable hotel option, though I agree with some other reviewers who suggest the price point may be a bit high.||||Time of stay:...

We got 1 night complimentary stay as part of our safari package. This hotel is good though nothing extraordinary.||||Food: Dinner was extremely tasty. Breakfast was also ok.||||Wifi: Wifi wouldnt work the whole night. Next day morning they refilled it and thankfully it started working. But we had to start our safari within an hour. So didnt use much.||||Location: It is a 15 mins drive from Arusha airport. The location of the hotel is not good. Slums all around. But if you have a pickup/drop then its not a problem. The hotel ensured that they dropped us wherever we wanted, which was very sweet!||||Rooms: Good rooms with mosquito netted beds. Good hot water throughout.||||Overall, a good hotel but better options are available nearby at the same price...

The room is mediocre. Our toilet wasn't working when we arrived so we asked to have it fixed, and their solution was to put the bidet in the tank of the toilet with the water always running...which made the water overflowed, and which I had to adjust when I got back to the room. WiFi is spotty at best, but that seems to be the case for much of Tanzania. The bed is comfortable, and the hot water in the shower is on demand, so it is always hot.

The restaurant is horrible. The quality of the food is just not what it should be for the price you pay...which is a LOT compared to most other places in the area. Also, the wait for that bad food was over 2 hours long...unacceptable.
