I recently traveled to Dar es Salaam for an extended work period. Due to unexpected extensions in my stay, I had to stay at three different hotels during my time there - the last of which was the Sea Cliff Hotel. In short, this hotel was my favorite of the three. It is a must for anyone visiting for either a short or extended stay. The staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive to the needs of guests.
I'll share the aspects I did not like first so that we can move on the the other wonderful aspects of Sea Cliff Hotel. My main issue is with the wireless internet service at the hotel. It was unreliable and weak at times, especially during the weekend. Also, it became a bit of an annoyance to constantly have to ask for wifi vouchers each day. Guests are given vouchers with wifi codes that are valid for 24 hours. It felt as if I were a kid asking my mom for money each day. Each voucher can only be used for one device, so I would ask for two of them daily - one for my laptop and the other for my smartphone. Another issue was the cost of printing in the business center, which was free at the Double Tree where I began my stay in the city. The business center was also only open for a certain number of hours each day. However, these issues are a small tradeoff for such an exceptional living experience.
The great aspects of the hotel? Oh, trust me, there are several! Sea Cliff Hotel will not disappoint those traveling for business or leisure. Guests will appreciate the unique experience of interacting with workers of Maasai descent throughout the hotel (greetings, security guards, etc). Guests can enjoy breakfast right beside the Indian Ocean each morning as well. This was an experience that I cannot compare to anything else. It was absolutely the best way to begin my stressful workdays while in Dar. I actually looked forward to returning to my hotel room at the end of each day because I loved Sea Cliff so much. The hotel is managed exceptionally, including a focus on small details that are not offered at other hotels but make a big difference to travelers/guests. For example, the showers have a non-obstructive clothes line so that guests who hand wash their clothing can comfortably dry them. As someone who did not anticipate having their stay extended twice while in the country, this small detail made my life much easier. I had to hand was a few items twice when my stay was extended. Also, guests receive an extensive hygiene and convenience basket (toothbrush kit, sanitary kit, shaving kit, shoe shine kit, etc), and each item is beautifully wrapped. It was as if I received a gift basket each day when the basket was replenished. Again, such small details like the wrapped hygiene items really made me feel right at home and comfortable, despite living in a hotel room for an extended period. The hotel also has a hair salon, casino, walking trail, souvenir store, and a few great restaurants to choose from. If you prefer to venture outside of the hotel, next door is a supermarket, guarded/protected ATM stations, as well as several restaurants and stores. I was able to walk next door and get a pedicure the morning of my departure back to the States. The location of the hotel is quite convenient!
If laundry services are needed, that is available at a price that is cheaper (half the cost for most items) compared to the pricing for laundry services at the Double Tree Hotel in Dar, which was the first hotel I stayed in during my time there. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Sea Cliff and hope to stay there again if I travel...
Read moreI recently visited the Sea Cliff Hotel in Dar es Salaam and had an outstanding experience. The hotel, majestically perched on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean, offers breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere. The hotel combines contemporary furnishings with Swahili-inspired design, creating a perfect blend of modern comfort and cultural charm.
The highlight of our visit was dining at the restaurant Café. The ambience was wonderful, with a relaxed yet elegant vibe, perfect for unwinding. We enjoyed the masala tea and BBQ chicken pizza, both of which were exceptional. The pizza was flavorful and perfectly cooked, while the masala tea was rich and aromatic, adding a delightful touch to our meal.
The hotel’s facilities are impressive, featuring an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, and even a casino. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Sea Cliff Hotel’s location is also convenient, just a short distance from the city center, making it easy to explore Dar es Salaam.
