Fig Tree Residences — Hotel in Dar es-Salaam

Stayed in Dar for 6 weeks from July to August for work in which Fig Tree accommodated me for my entire stay.

Room/Amenities/Service/Food: Stayed on the first floor in a studio. Room was cleaned daily. AC in room was great. Kitchenette, fridge, all utensils, etc. all included. Pots were included as well but oddly enough my room did not have a stove or equivalent to cook. However, the staff has a portable cooker/electric stovetop of some sorts available upon request. I myself never took advantage of cooking so this was not an issue at all.

There were no noise issues during my stay apart from one neighbor that decided to blast their TV till 1am for a few nights, . Other than that, sleep was great!

Food was amazing!!! Personal favorites were the Roast Chicken, Beef Samosa, Spaghetti and Meatballs, and Shrimp Fried Rice

Internet did cut off a few times but came back online within a few minutes. Overall, speeds were sufficient for my purposes (streaming, and FaceTime.).

Outlets in room are Type G (UK Style) therefore a Travel Adapter would be required. However, the outlet close to the desk had a NA style plug.

Grounds are well protected with adequate lighting, a main gate, with security (GardaWorld) on duty 24/7.

Laundry is complimentary and done daily with clothes being returned the same day. Out of the 6 weeks I was there, there was only 1-3 times where the clothes were NOT returned the same day. However, this was a non-issue for me.

Location: Great Location. Walking distance to Slipway Hotel/Shops, Seacliff Village, Grocery store, and many restaurants and bars.

Staff/Service: Service was fantastic at Fig Tree!!!! From the front office staff to the wait staff, to the cleaning crew, all employees were very professional, friendly, and always available to help.

Overall/Conclusion: Enjoyed my stay at Fig Tree Residence. Definitely would stay at this establishment again...

Stayed at the Fig Tree Residence’s for 8 nights during the 2018 Tanzacat sailing event. Really a very nice facility which I can only but strongly recommend to others. Rooms are new, very comfortable and clean. Great bedding and shower/bathroom. Nice pool and gym located in a beautiful and quite garden. Excellent breakfast on the rooftop. Lunch and dinner available (I did not take any). Excellent location close to Slipway, several hotels and restaurants and for those attending Tanzacat: straight opposite the Yacht Club. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Security is well managed - a safe place. Feels very much as the home...

I chanced to stay at the Fig Tree Residences on my last trip to Dar... and I cannot recommend this place highly enough! Fig Tree oozes family and friendship on a level which is close to home! I must confess I found it hard to leave:-). The staff constantly go the extra mile to make you feel at home - to the extent of borrowing their slippers to you when you're embarking for the Bongoyo Island without the right footwear:-). Breakfasts are really relaxing on a lovely terrace... and the location makes it easy to access the rest of Dar...I really hope to return to this place on my next trips to...
