The owner is really trying to make an impossible concept work, but for us it fell well short. We were going to stay two nights, but ended up leaving after the first night. The owner did give us a full refund. The room we had looked lovely, though the owner's used bikini and towel were still hanging in the bathroom when we arrived. However, as night fell, the issues with the concept quickly came to light. It's very open to the outside, so the mosquitoes were assaulting us as we dried off after our shower and tried to make it as quickly as possible to the mosquito-netted bed. The mosquito net did keep most of the mosquitoes away, though we were bit by a number of them through the night. We made sure to fully close our suitcases in case any other creatures decided to have a look at them - but that didn't keep hundreds of tiny black ants making their way into the suitcases. We were still dealing with them days later. I would assume that the units that are not as open to the outside are not as bad with the critters. On the plus side, the breakfast was lovely as was the dinner we had there. The staff was also pleasant. I wish the best of luck to the owner, but I have a hard time seeing the concept of the very open rooms working outside of...
Read moreGorgeous spot in a peaceful area outside of Kizimkazi. The hotel is beautiful, we really enjoyed the pool and generous breakfast, and the staff were so attentive and friendly! The rooms are also great, however we had some issues. We were not informed that the hot water wasn’t working, but the staff were very helpful and organised a kettle for our room. We did also have quite a few bugs in our room and birds in the bathroom (including bird poo everywhere), as the windows have no glass. The location is very remote, however this was what we were looking for at the time so we were happy. In late May, there are no other restaurants open in Kizimkazi, so we could only eat at the hotel restaurant which was SUPER TASTY, but also very expensive so just something to keep in mind. All in all, even with the flaws above we had a great stay especially for the price....
