We booked to stay here but there is no beach and no access to the ocean so you look at the beautiful sea but cannot go to swim. Because there is a 3 metre cliff drop off with sharp rocks, and no steps to walk onto the sea below. Although below there is no sand but rock only so am not sure it would be safe to swim here even if you climbed down the sharp vertical rock face.
The nearest beach is at the village which is about 30 minute walk by foot on the main road. Rooms are clean but there is no mosquito net on the beds, and no anti mosquito net on their Windows so no protection netting on the windows to stop mosquitoes going into your room in the daytime or the nighttime
only a fan so no air conditioning that means the room is very hot and stuffy in the day and at night as one would want to close the balcony door and windows in case mosquitoes enter the room or other insects enter the room attracted by the lights in the room at night.
No hot shower in any of the rooms !
And the kitchen staff were children, so the service was very poor
We decided not to stay here and left without even spending 1 night here as there is no swimming pool and when we checked in no guests either.
The hotel needs a swimming pool as otherwise there is nothing at all to do here but play cards since it’s too dangerous to climb down the cliff to get to the ocean see my photos
Overall terrible hotel with rude staff as when he told them we could not stay they became angry with us and insisted we stay in the accommodation, even though we had pre-paid with a travel hotel agent so they got our money without us sleeping their...
Read moreWe didn’t stay overnight at Salida Hotel but discovered it while staying nearby. We spent an entire day there and truly enjoyed it. The place is run by two motivated locals who go above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable. The location is simply perfect! Since the hotel is currently still small, it feels very exclusive – almost like having a private beach, with a dedicated water entry as well. We got a tour of the hotel rooms, and they were so impressive that we would have definitely chosen to stay here if we had known about it earlier. The sunsets here are breathtaking, and it’s absolutely worth a visit! They’re still expanding and developing, so it’s bound to get better and better. Perhaps they could add rentals like kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, or floating rings for a small fee – it would make this fantastic place even more fun!
Thank you and good luck! Will definitely come back when we are back...
Read moreSalida beach is a gorgeous spot in Zanzibar. I enjoyed the views and during the low tide, I was able to explore the caves below which was a great experience. It is further from the main town which can be very busy. Therefore, at Salida you can truly appreciate and enjoy the tranquility, peace and paradise that Zanzibar has to offer. Staff are very attentive and always made sure I had everything I needed. My personal favourite was the Salida burger which was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. If you are looking for an activity close to this area, I would highly recommend Garden Cave which is only a 15 minute walk away where you can swim with turtles and feed them. Great photo opportunities! When I return to Zanzibar I will definitely be returning to...
