Where Sustainability, Beauty and Warmth Meet
We had an amazing experience at this beautiful guesthouse, a true gem nestled in a peaceful corner of Zanzibar. Everything is thoughtfully curated, from the design of the house to the values it promotes.
The entire place is furnished with exquisite local African wood, and every detail reflects the love for craftsmanship and sustainability. All kitchen and household items — from plates to breakfast cups, from wine glasses to serving trays — are handmade using local materials and support women’s artisan cooperatives. It’s not only beautiful, but meaningful.
The atmosphere is serene, with a large, clean pool available at all times and a lovely white sand garden that gives a truly relaxing feeling. You can walk barefoot and feel completely connected to nature.
What really makes this place special is the deep care for the environment: 🌱 All bathroom and kitchen products (like soaps, shampoos, dish soap) are eco-friendly. 🌱 Water is reused to irrigate the garden, and the hot water is powered by solar panels. 🌱 Fresh water comes directly from the property’s own well, ensuring self-sufficiency and sustainability. 🌱 Nothing is wasted, and every choice seems driven by respect for nature and the local community.
Another highlight is the kindness, professionalism, and warm presence of the host and manager. She made us feel welcomed from the first moment, always attentive to our needs, and ready with great suggestions for both daytime and evening activities — tailored to our interests. Whether it was a beach party, a soft music night, or a hidden gem on the island, her advice was always spot on.
She also speaks the local language and was invaluable in helping us plan trips, book excursions, and even arrange for a reliable and friendly driver at short notice. I highly recommend relying on her if you're planning to explore Zanzibar — she truly made everything easier and more authentic for us.
In short, this place is not just a guesthouse — it’s an experience of beauty, culture, respect, and genuine hospitality. We can’t...
Read moreHead to Mkunguni Villas if you are looking for a beautiful home during your time in Bwejuu! The apartment I stayed in was aesthetically pleasing, comfortable and fully equipped. Large windows allow the soft sunlight to filter in during the day, giving the place a warm glow. I made many meals in the kitchen and enjoyed the refrigerator that is kept well-stocked.
The owner and manager, Elisa, is extremely attentive, communicative, professional and kind. Pre-empting what visitors may need, be it food, activities or information, Elisa was prepared to guide and help me procure whatever I needed even before my arrival! This was particularly helpful given the late hour at which I arrived and my limited knowledge of the area--she saved me a lot of effort and time, allowing me to allocate those to the enjoyment of my vacation.
Mkunguni villas themselves are safe, well-situated a couple of minutes from the beach and even has a pool in a serene backyard, if one prefers some peace and quiet. The apartments are cleaned daily and staff are friendly and helpful.
I would surely visit again and highly recommend Mkunguni Villas to those...
Read moreWhat a beautiful villa with amazing service. We travelled here with our four young children and it was ideal for a stay with young kids. The highlight was definately the pool. There is a more shallow section which was suitable for our one year old along with a deeper area which we used as well.
This felt like a full service stay. We asked for some groceries and without hesitation, we received them within a few hours. Anything we asked for was attended to and responded to very quickly. Elisa was out of town but that did not stop her from responding instantly. They even picked something up for us from the pharmacy!
Thank you for going above and beyond in making our stay enjoyable for the...
