I have no clue how this place has such high ratings. The hostel is entirely run down, the pictures are outdated and probably from before covid, and the place has not been renovated in years. The rooms are not clean, spots on the walls, dead bugs on the ceiling and in the corners, old bedding that has turned yellow over time, so it's not even white. The desk in the room is quite high on the wall and the chair is small so you can't sit and work in the room, not that you would be able to anyways because the WiFi is so terrible. They have many different ones you can try to log on to, but none of them work. The toilets are gross. When I arrived two of them were clogged, and not with toilet paper. There was no soap in the dispenser and no paper towels. I went to the reception to inform them, and the woman I was speaking to acted like I was being completely unreasonable for asking for soap for my hands. She then informed me that they don't provide paper towels to dry your hands after washing, even though they have a dispenser for it. This is probably because they don't provide towels either and they don't want guests to use paper towels instead. So they settled the problem by being unhygienic instead. I came back later to see that someone had tried, and failed, at filling up the soap dispenser, and instead of cleaning they had left the soap dispenser on the counter with soap all around it dripping on the floor. As in the picture. There were dirty dishes in front of my neighbours door, which attracted insects, not great. The showers were gross as well, since there are no slippers to borrow, people take their shoes from outside and drag them around the bathroom and showers so there's dirt on the floor. The light in the bathroom doesn't work right, the entire place smells strange and none of the common areas are kept clean. The location is about 13 minutes from the metro, terribly connected and in a bad neighborhood. It's outside of the main part of Bangkok and the location is generally bad for food, sightseeing, amenities and general comfort. They don't provide water, towels, or any other amenities at all, which is the least they could do for those...
Read moreTuk tuk hostel is a brand new place which meant that everything was fresh. We had one of our best sleep here in their really comfortable beds and private room with powerfull A-C. The accommodation is also a perfect place to meet others as they have a big common room with games for the guests to enjoy. The staff is one of the friendliest people we have met in Southeast Asia that learnt us more about Thailand and there culture.||The shared bathrooms was also great, clean and had a strong waterpressure in the showers. The bathrooms is also very big so you don't have to wait for other guests, to get your morning shower. We also enjoyed the strong wifi signal in our room. There is also great value on massage downstairs for 200 baht/1h. ||We liked the area where this place is located as you have everything you need outside the door. Street food, hair dresssers, food court, shopping, 7eleven and much more. The place is also only a few minute taxi ride to Kao san road for around 50 baht. A metered taxi from the airport during rush hour took us 1 hour, for 250 baht (no extra cost for road toll). We also choosed this place because it's close to the south bus terminal. We would strongly recommend this place for everyone and wish the crew of Tuk Tuk Hostel good luck with...
Read moreA good and an affordable place to stay as a local or a tourist. We stayed at this place for 2 nights. Self laundry facilities were there and the shared washrooms were clean. Location was good as well as there was a 7-11 within walking distance. The hosts were polite and provided facility to leave luggage the last day here after we checked out.
May not be the most glamorous, but worth for the price.
Problems: laundry dryer was not working properly and always we had to use the fan to dry it which is an extreme nuisance, even though they took card payments from the next guest they told us they only take cash. This was bad as no traveller wants to spend cash if they can...
