Amata Lanna Village is a beautiful, tranquil respite from the main center of Chiang Mai. It’s very accessible to the airport (about 4km and a 20/30 minute drive with traffic; 15 minutes without). At the time of our visit (December 2023), they offered one-way complimentary transport to/from the airport.
The design feels like traditional Thai with intricate wood carvings, colorful woven textiles, elephants, lotuses, etc. Very beautiful and natural. Not overdone.
The location is about a 10 minute drive to Old Town Chiang Mai. For us, it was nice to be close to the city but not in the city. We felt we had a more peaceful experience staying at Amata Lanna Village rather than in the city. The air was fresh and the only sound pollution beyond a rare loud motorbike were birds singing.
The property is close to a bunch of local food stalls and carts and a 7-11. Within a 10 minute walk, there are a few restaurants and cafes that offer air conditioned indoor seating, too.
The property was always clean and orderly. They have a nice pool for lounging and swimming. Breakfast daily was delicious—both the American and Thai style they offered. Breakfast came with fresh fruit, the main course of eggs, bacon, sausage, toasted (American style) or rice porridge (Thai). You could also have coffee, tea, OJ, yogurt, and mango sticky rice. They also have a library room above the breakfast dining area with a small library, big desk with a view, and a few lounge chairs to read or relax.
The rooms were comfortable and clean with free WiFi and air conditioning. The water pressure of the plumbing was strong. The only consideration we could think of is if you’re not as familiar with your travel partner, the bathroom is a bit open with wooden slats and a door rather than a solid wall separating the facilities from the rest of the room. Overall, a beautiful room with comfortable bed and ample electrical outlets (they provided a surge protector for American style plugs).
We cannot highlight the amazing level of service Yuma and the team provided. They were kind, warm, polite, and extremely hospitable. Their warmth did not feel fake or forced. It was a gentle warmth and we felt welcomed and taken care of. My husband and I would without reservation recommend this hotel to others and wouldn’t even look elsewhere for accommodations for when/if we return...
Read moreThis is by far one of the best hotels on our trip. For me the location is perfect since we were looking to be away from the city center, and it is just a 10 -15 minute by moto or car. However if you want to be walking distance to the center this is not the place for you, but you would be missing out on a calm stay That said the hotel is a mini paradise, no noise, nature surroundings, beautiful architecture, comfortable beds, hot water, they provide you with daily drinking water I, and what to say about breakfast: fresh fruit, eggs, or Thai traditional breakfast (WE LOVED IT). The best thing about this hotel it's their people. Yumi, Kae, and the rest of the team are WONDERFUL, I have no words to describe how kind, and helpful they are. They are always available to help you with whatever you need, suggesting new activities or just making the time you spend in the hotel a wonderful experience. The kind of kindness we received from all of them, and the attention to detail left us speechless and wanting to come back soon.
On a personal note, if you are the kind of traveler who enjoys learning about culture and understanding things, this is the place to be, they were so open to answer our questions about what we had seen during the day, anout the daily life of Thai people, whatever crazy question we had, they would help us understand (sometimes using translator). They really made us feel so welcomed and as if it was out home, we can not wait to come back. And to the owner if he ever sees this review you have the best...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Amatalana Village Hotel and Resort, and it was an amazing experience. This boutique hotel truly excels in hospitality, with incredibly generous and hospitable people ensuring a memorable stay. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and attentiveness, setting the tone for a wonderful visit.
The rooms were nothing short of spectacular—well-appointed, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The staff deserves special mention for their politeness and exceptional service throughout my stay. They were always ready to assist with a smile, making the experience even more delightful.
One of the highlights of my stay was the pool. It was absolutely awesome, providing a perfect spot to relax and unwind. The only minor drawback is the hotel's distance from the city center, which may be a consideration for those wanting to be closer to urban attractions. However, the tranquility and charm of the location more than make up for this.
One suggestion for improvement would be to include options for lunch or dinner in addition to breakfast. It would be a fantastic addition to the already great services offered.
Overall, Amatalana Village Hotel and Resort is a gem. Despite its slight distance from the city center, everything else was spot on. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to experience excellent service, beautiful rooms, and a relaxing...
