It is rare for me to write a review, more so if it’s a negative reflection. Unfortunately this is one of the time I have been least impressed and had mixed thoughts during a short stay holiday. I’ll be commenting on 3 parts as suggested on the review, which are location, room, and service.
Location
I want to compliment the hotel of its location. Just slightly off the city of Pattaya, it’s very easy to travel by car from the Bangkok as it avoids a lot of the city’s traffic. It has a beautiful beach front, it’s quiet and you have great privacy in any of the villas. The sunset view is incredible, but you will need to stay in one of the beach view villas to really enjoy it.
Room
My wife and I or iginally booked directly with the hotel a duplex villa for approximately 500-600 USD per night on a very short notice. The room was in good condition, though it doesn’t really have a view outside of its vicinity. The duplex is not ideal if you are to bring a child or baby as it is split in to 3 levels and it doesn’t have railings on the mezzanine entrance level going down to the living level. The bathroom is also on the mezzanine level, making it a bit difficult. This was our fault so we asked the hotel if they have any single floor room available. Unfortunately they only have the 2 bedroom villa left if we were to stay in the same room type during our stay, which we obliged to upgrade for another 600USD per night after we have seen the room. Again, the room was in good condition. Though once we start settling in, we start to realise that given the rate of the room (this is similar to most if not all luxury hotel and resort in Phuket) its function could be better, given it only operated in early 2019. You would have thought a usb socket next to the bedside is simple enough to be placed instead of a power socket, and to have for both sides of the bed for that matter. But may be I’m knit picking.
Service
Generally, most staffs are attentive and have good service mind. This is to be expected of any top rated hotel in Thailand. It is why travellers come to Thailand. We were provided with a personal caterer when we upgraded to the 2 bedroom villa, which was nice. She was attentive and provide us help when required. Our poor experiences were from the house cleaning team when they send us a baby bathtub which was not clean. After, it was the turn down service when a couple of members just rang the room to give a card to my wife and left without asking anything. Then it was in room dining when the service team didn’t assist us with setting up table. Then when they came back to clear the table, it was asked if we may use the table again, which we said it was possible. They kindly left us the table and chair outside the room but also left unused plates in room which could have been cleared off. When i asked if it should be cleared, the answer was to leave it since we may need it tomorrow. I found that quite odd and lazy to be perfectly franked. Overall the service provided was a mixed bag. Unfortunately, not acceptable at 5 star standard of hotel.
Lastly, I believe the hotel restaurant could be improve as what was provided is relatively basic. This is just a minor suggestion but a valid one given the price tag...
Read moreI stayed at Mason Pattaya last month on New Year's Eve, and the next day, I went to Koh Larn Island for some sightseeing.
Unfortunately, I had an accident and fell off a scooter, suffering severe abrasions on my left arm, left leg, and left foot. After struggling to make my way back to Mason Pattaya with my girlfriend, Peipei, Jan, and Opal were extremely kind and attentive, asking about my condition and immediately bringing out a first-aid kit to help treat my wounds.
That evening, we had planned to go to Bangkok, so we didn’t have time to visit a hospital in Pattaya. Thanks to the three of them, my wounds healed very quickly, and now, they’re almost completely recovered. After taking care of my injuries, Peipei also offered me hotel slippers since I couldn’t wear shoes and even gave us ice-cold orange juice and hot tea, which was a thoughtful surprise and deeply touching.
One more detail that really impressed us happened during our dinner on New Year's Eve at the hotel restaurant. One of the waitresses (I apologize, I didn’t catch her name) noticed our table wasn’t level before we even mentioned it. She quickly brought something to fix it, and both my girlfriend and I were amazed by her attention to detail!
A great hotel, or a luxury hotel, isn’t just about top-notch facilities, but also about the quality of service from the staff. Mason Pattaya truly excels in both areas, making us feel right at home. If I return to Pattaya for another vacation, I would undoubtedly choose Mason Pattaya again. Peipei, Jan, and Opal truly deserve recognition, and I’m sincerely grateful to them. I hope to see them again on my next visit.
Lastly, I must mention the hair conditioner at the hotel – it’s absolutely amazing! I even bought two bottles after checking out, and I highly recommend it to...
Read moreOk. So I booked this place for a quiet first vacation to Pattaya. I'm not into bars or clubs. So first, the place is a bit difficult to find. I would not suggest trying to locate the place at night. They should invest in a sign with lighting. Bc the problem is if you drive past the place you have a to make a severely inconvenient U-turn (left side driving).
Next, villa is great. Staff is accommodating. Front desk agents are a little snarky in my opinion. Massage parlor manager was very rude and pushy. Massage was overpriced and terrible. Food is terrible 0/5 stars. That chef should be fired immediately. No where near 5 stars. Most of staff were great but sometimes there was an undertone of fake friendliness/ racism which I did not appreciate given the price I paid for the stay. Regarding price, everything is over priced. Maybe if this place was an all-inclusive the price would make more sense. People would be more forgiving for the subpar services/ items if it was already included.
Mostly quiet but there were some rude guests who decided to blast their music. Not at all the reason to book a place far from the city center. Next, there is nothing to do around there (which is why I picked the place) but the downside is the monopoly the resort has leads to poor service i.e. bad food, bad massage, bad drinks, ridiculously expensive laundry. It's about 15 minute drive to the city the problem is the traffic which can easily turn it to 30 to 40 minute drive depending on the time of day.
I think the place should be priced around 200/ day at most. But it is definitely probably the best place in the area which is why they command the price. I was not that impressed to...
