Before booking this hotel, it’s important to know that the resort is located next to a busy multi-lane highway and in a region that, aside from the beautiful beach, doesn’t offer much in terms of tourism. It is about 15 km south of Pattaya’s main tourist area (Walking Street and Pattaya Beach), which translates to a 25 to 30 minute drive, depending on traffic.
However, this doesn’t necessarily have to be a downside. The noise from the highway is barely noticeable within the hotel and on its private beach, so this factor alone shouldn’t be a dealbreaker. If you don’t plan to stay exclusively at the resort, you’ll need to rely on taxis or rideshare services due to the lack of public transportation. Fortunately, these are readily available. Alternatively, arriving by car is a good option, as the hotel offers plenty of free parking, both covered and uncovered.
With that said — this hotel is fantastic!
The pricing is on the higher end, both for the stay itself and for services within the hotel, but it is not overpriced and is absolutely in line with the quality offered. The pricing structure also discourages certain types of travelers, meaning you won’t find rowdy partygoers or sex tourists here.
The staff is exceptional — extremely friendly yet professional. The rooms are spacious, modern, and clean. As is common in most high-end modernized hotels, the sleeping area and bathroom are separated by a glass wall, but there is a privacy screen if needed. The shower features both a rainforest showerhead and a regular one. Each room is stocked daily with four glass bottles of still water, and additional bottles are available upon request at no extra charge.
The entire resort, including the beach, is well-maintained, spacious, and beautifully designed. There are two infinity pools — one larger pool, which is also suitable for children and even accessible directly from some rooms, and a smaller adults-only pool. Plenty of towels and cold water dispensers with infused fruit water are available at both pools, free of charge. The poolside service is attentive, and the larger pool also features a bar, accessible from both the deck and the pool itself. In the late afternoon, there is a happy hour where you get two drinks for the price of one.
The private beach is also well-kept and provides plenty of sun loungers. While there are warning signs about jellyfish, I didn’t encounter any during our stay.
The resort has two on-site restaurants, though we only tried the 609 Kitchen, which also serves breakfast. The food was solid, with no complaints. The same goes for the hotel bars that we visited.
Breakfast was varied and high-quality, with attentive service and plenty of options for all tastes. The indoor dining area can get quite busy and noisy toward the end of breakfast hours, so we preferred sitting outside for both breakfast and dinner, where the atmosphere was peaceful and the service equally attentive.
A major advantage of this hotel is that it is far enough from the chaotic party scene of Pattaya that you don’t experience any of it at the resort. However, if you wish to visit, it’s an easy 25-to-30-minute ride away.
Another highlight was the diverse mix of guests — no single nationality dominated, which was refreshing. Recently, there has been a noticeable surge in Russian tourists in Thailand (especially in Phuket and Pattaya), which some find disruptive due to cultural differences in social behavior. However, this was not a big issue at this hotel.
Initially, we were a bit skeptical about the hotel’s pet-friendly policy, but it turned out to be a non-issue as well. Hardly any guests seemed to bring pets, and during our entire stay, we only saw two, both of which were quiet and well-behaved.
All in all, this resort is an absolute recommendation — provided you are fully aware of its location. If we find ourselves in the region again, we will definitely...
Read moreNew hotel lacked expreience, poor management and even poorer communications.
My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 year old twins) booked a well deserve weekend getaway at the Renaissance Pattaya Resort & Spa Thailand. We were excited to stay in this new hotel and looked forward to a relaxing visit at the beach. The Marriott has always had a reliable reputation for quality and comfort. However, what we experienced was the exact opposite. We found the new hotel lacked experience, suffers from poor management, and even poorer communication both inside the corporation and outside with their customers..
Let me list our bad experience during our short stay.
#1 BedBugs, Rashes The first day we decided to explore out of the pool area and take the kids down to the beach where the hotel set up a big sand bed. Of course my husband and I laid down to enjoy the scenery. A short while later, my husband developed rashes all over his back. We were lucky that our 2 year old twins sat in the public sand. They were saved! I am sure the sand bed was the cause of the rashes because they only appeared on his back where he was lying down. The rash looked awful and was swollen and itchy.
We notified the hotel the following morning so they could mitigate the situation for other hotel guests. The response I got from the front office staff person, really WOWed me. “Sand beds are in the public and the hotel is not responsible for them”. They didnt even care to take a look at the rash on my poor husband. The lack of caring and concern for their guests was shocking. We asked if there was any resource at the Hotel that could help us with the symptoms of the itchy rash. It was then and only then, that they directed us to treatment with Calamine lotion.
#2 Strange Buffet Limitations. We made our 3 days 2 nights with special daily buffet/lunch booking through the marriott.com site. Confirmation # 82689203. The food was another joke. The first night “International Buffet” station #1 was noodles, chinese bun, spicy salad. Station #2: pasta, steak, pizza, soup. Station #3: bread, salad, dessert, sushi shahimi. We were only allowed to take food from Station #1 and #3. What kind of “international” is that? This was confusing and frustrating, especially when we are negotiating the meal time with two 2-year-olds. The description could have been communicated much more clearly to avoid this frustration.
The second night was the similar. “Seafood Buffet” included. Station #1: Thai Tom Yum(spicy), stir fry veggie, Thai Spicy Salad. Station #2 grilled seafood, pasta, pizza, soup. Station #3: bread, salad, dessert, sushi shahimi and cold seafood. Limitation again for us we were told was for only Station 1 &3. We had a very hard time finding food to feed our kids.
When we asked at check in and check out, the hotel did not seem to have any idea about the package that we had bought online.
#3 Hierachy Parking system After we decided to go to the pharmacy to get treatment for the rashes, we returned to park our car in the underground parking. The security guard stopped us and said the below ground parking spots are “specially reserved for super cars, lamborghinis”, guests attending a wedding reception that night. Again i was not expected this kind of system under the Marriott.
Our weekend was completely ruined at this point. We had difficulty with the beach time, with meal time and finally parking. This is the package we exprerienced at the...
Read moreThe New Year’s celebration is one of the highlights of each year and with a profusion of enticing offers it can be challenging to make the correct decision. This year, to be sure of an excellent experience, we chose the Renaissance Pattaya Resort & Spa to celebrate with friends and were delighted with our choice.
The Renaissance Resort & Pattaya possesses an impressive entrance and lobby area. Our indulgence commenced from the moment we arrived with the amicable welcome of the staff who would park our car. Whilst the lobby is vast, you are immediately enveloped in a warm, hospitable feeling with the staff genuinely welcoming you to the Resort and to the festivities.
We had chosen to celebrate at their 609 Kitchen Restaurant due to its ambience and renowned buffet. For this special occasion there was a choice of dining inside or on the beautifully located garden. The evening was festive, relaxed and most enjoyable from the first minute.
The service staff were amazing, attentive, and professional but above all, so friendly. Every member that we encountered genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay and there was a calm, professional aura from each. They can all smile so much at the Renaissance! I love to observe staff at their work and this evening’s observations were a testimonial to a sympathetic and professional management team who have achieved such superb teamwork.
The Buffet was excellent, a culinary journey through so many tastes and food cultures. Maybe not as ostentatious as some, but an extremely comprehensive selection of quality products that was beautifully displayed with a choice to suit even the most discerning palate. Inside was the cold buffet with a choice of freshly cooked dishes on request, including Foie gras, and outside were hot specialities with a varied choice of seafood, meats and much more.
It was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere with guests from around the world relaxing, mixing and happily celebrating. Entertainment was provided by a very talented trio who emulated so many different voices perfectly and the impressive Fire Show that was tastefully spectacular and popular with the guests.
The evening was marvellous with the buffets continuously topped up. A magical ambience had been created and the secret of the Renaissance Pattaya Resort is their incredibly attentive staff, each and every one playing their roles meticulously to provide a choreographed celebration to be savoured. With an impressive Firework show at midnight it was time to depart and return to normality!
We chose their Tropical Glam Night New Year buffet at THB.4,100++ including free flow beverages. Excellent value for money considering the vast choice, full free flow bar, ambience...
