Our stay in Ban Tai Bungalows (The Relax Resort) was absolutely awful, it was hell. We stayed in room A9. The host was unbelievably rude, aggressive, confrontational and unhelpful. Firstly, there was no bottled water when we arrived so we messaged and asked about the matter and his reply was "it's cheap enough, we don't need to provide those services..." and then when we messaged the next day to ask for towels, he came to our hut and caused a scene and spoke to us like we we're idiots saying "this is not a hotel service, if you want towels you pay extra" and then laughed in our faces and proceeded to carry on with his rant about "how this property is cheap" I told him it isn't cheap and then he said something under his breath, laughed again and walked off. There is no window in the hut, just separate slanted panes of glass that let the insects in at all hours. You can't open the curtain to let in any light either (not like you would want to anyway as the insects would have direct access to the bed and headboard area..) The dream catcher was riddled with dead and alive insects.. The sheet for the bed quilt cover is non existent with cigarette burns on it, so who knows when it was last washed, the pillows had stains on them and the sheets for the bed have burns in it too. When it rained heavy the roof leaked as is clearly evident by the water stains and mould on the ceiling and the tile flooring was soaking 99% of the time. The towels were covered in stains when we arrived, the handheld shower head doesn't work, there is stains on the curtain. The bins hadn't been changed once since we arrived, the stray/rescue dogs let themselves into your hut/accommodation and will attempt to bite you when you want them to leave your room.. The entire resort is covered in dog faeces and urine, the pool is dirty and unusable. The loungers are dangerous with loose screws and nails holding them together so they are falling apart. The whole resort is not maintained at all and the room is dire. The place is a unorganised mess and I would definitely recommend you AVOID THIS PLACE and save your hard earned cash. This is the worst stay we've experienced yet in Thailand and we have been travelling for 3 months. STAY AWAY IF YOU VALUE YOUR MENTAL STABILITY, DIGNITY AND HARD EARNED WAGES!!! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED WITH THE HOST AND ACCOMMODATION, WE DO...
Read moreI really really didn't like the rooms. It was very hard to find to start with. We walked under an arch with the relax resort and ended up like in a place where locals lived with some little cabins and some chickens. We couldn't find the 'resort' and checked with some of the locals. They pointed us to the neighbouring resort. When we walked all the way back into the neighbouring resort we got told we were at the wrong resort and went back to the initial place and found the reception. The next morning we figured out we did have to pass the local cabins and were in the right spot 😂. The staff member who helped us with checking in was very nice however. He brought us to our cabin and left us after opening the door. The cabin is a round hut with a bed in it, the walls looked stained, the AC looked broken (but did work) and there was an unplugged mini fridge on the floor. Besides that some wonky electrics are on the wall. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The bathroom was very very basic and open to the outside, which also resulted in some small insects walking around.
We were quite devastated and spent 1,5 hours trying to look for other accommodation which was impossible since it was a full moon party that night. we eventually decided to just go enjoy our night and deal with it since we only needed to stay there for one night.
I really hope they can turn this place around cause this place could really work if some money was pumped into some updating. I don't like dragging accommodations through the mud like this, but I really think it's important people know what they are...
Read moreBasically as Eric said. They make you pay a deposit on the ferry, which is weird seeing as you're about to go and see it straight away, you're not holding up a room. The place is pretty run down. It looks nice, but the rooms have had no upkeep. The bathroom is open to the outside and there were grated Windows that couldn't be closed so mosquitos will find you! We made sure we only had to stay one night as we knew there were much better places about for the same price and the next day we went out and found somewhere much better straight away. On the way out we heard a woman ask if the minimum stay was 3 nights or could they stay 1 and the lady behind the desk quickly said yes minimum 3, which was a lie. The place was completely empty right before the full moon party...
