Disappointing Premium Stay at Avani+ Hua Hin My wife and I visit Hua Hin every year, and this year we decided to try something and booked an expensive premium villa suite at the *Avani+ Hua Hin* expecting a peaceful and luxurious experience, but unfortunately, the stay fell far short of expectations. The reception staff were unwelcoming and struggled with basic English. The "welcome drink" was a shot of frozen Fanta, which felt cheap for a premium hotel. Food quality was mediocre—street food or food court meals were better. Worse, **we both fell ill with diarrhea after the first dinner**. The private pool was unclean, with too many leaves floating, and the **public pool bean bags were dirty and muddy**. Beddings had dead bugs, and the indoor slippers provided were **obviously used, worn, and dirty**—had to request replacements. The **public pool bar towel rack was empty**, and staff directed me to fetch a towel myself. The hotel app, meant for requests, was unresponsive—it took a day to confirm a spa booking. The only bright spot was **May**, a staff member at the Executive Lounge, who was lovely, attentive, and polite. The worst part was a wedding party that disrupted the entire stay. Prolonged noise, overcrowding, and loud music made it impossible to enjoy the peace I paid for. The hotel seemed understaffed, with most attention diverted to the wedding. A **loud religious ceremony was broadcasted via PA**, forcing guests to listen for **1-2 hours**. Simple orders, like soda water, took **30+ minutes**. Breakfast was chaotic, with wedding guests blocking food stations and chatting everywhere. The hotel failed to notify guests about the wedding, which felt inconsiderate. For **HK$1500+/US$200/Baht 5000+ per night (twice the standard rate)**, I expected better. The executive lounge service was also misleading—it only lasted **one hour daily**, with no prior information. We were so disappointed that we **checked out a day early**, but **no staff noticed or inquired**. Originally, I wanted to give a **2 to 2.5/5 rating**, but my too-kind wife worried that the hotel management might blame the staff instead, so I settled on a **3/5**. **Verdict**: A poor experience for the price paid. The hotel needs to improve cleanliness, staff training, and guest communication. Avoid if you value hygiene, peace, or service.

TLDR: while the atmosphere is not as relaxed as that of Sheraton's, this is a great hotel. It is family-friendly, couple friendly, even solo friendly. Location: on the main street between Sheraton and Dusit. They have a stylish and large name plague in front. Hard to miss. It's a little off city center but I believe they have shuttle bus to downtown. The beach access is on another plot of land belongs to the hotel. It's only across a small alley. Parking: we found no problem finding parking spot. They have golf carts to shuttle us to reception. The distance is just about hundred meters or so though. Staff: very polite and well trained. They even have a hotel tour for us. Staff speaks fluent English Room: room is not as spacious as those of Sheraton but still very comfortable. It has kettle, four bottles of water, safe, iron and its pad, slippers, 7 cloth hangers, mini fridge, working desk, interior couch, balcony, all bath equipments, toothpaste, and toothbrushes. You can almost check-in naked as they have provided everything except clothes. The working desk as USB chargers, 3.5mm audio, HDMI, and Bluetooth button which we didn't know what it is for. The best thing is they installed electric fan in the balcony too. Cleanliness: generally clean. No dust on the floor not balcony. However, behind both mirrors in the bedroom and bathroom there are some dust and spiders web. You are unlikely to see it and it's unlikely to annoy anyone either. Most homes are dirtier than this. Activities: we received a discount for massage so my wife took it. She liked it a lot. Swimming pool is large but not covered by shades as their trees are a decade too young. The kids area's pool has shades. There are other kids activities inside too but we didn't look. Main area also has pizza and beer shop, small fitness, and parking lot. There's a large bar is on the beach too. Food: breakfast has salad bar, cereal, various kinds of bread, tea, Thai food, and yougurt. Coffee machine has limited options though, probably because it can't do milk foam.

Avani Huahin Resort with a five-star resort environment. Avani Hotel is an Anantara sister hotel, a four-star hotel brand in the minor group. Although it started in Thailand, it is very popular in Thailand with rooms, facilities, and services that surpass the four-star class of a global hotel group. The Avani Hotel is very popular with travelers from all over the world for its excellent design, facilities, and convenience. Some of the Abani hotels have been used as five-star hotels in the past, or as Marriott hotels, and some are no different from five-star hotels. Avani Huahin Resort is similar to or superior to a five-star hotel in design, hotel size, room, facility, and breakfast. Therefore, some hotel booking sites classify Avani Huahin Resort as a five-star hotel. One of the reasons why Avani Huahin Resort is considered a five-star hotel is that the owner is a family that knows well about the hotel, and is likely a builder with a luxury condominium brand known as Hyde. Avani Huahin Resort has excellent rooms ,facilities and management even in the Covid 19 environment. Breakfast is incredibly excellent as a four-star hotel. The beach environment is also relatively excellent. The beach bar& restaurant in Breeza at sunset is very beautiful. There is also a 7-Eleven convenience store and a Thai restaurant near the hotel, making it convenient for guests to live in the hotel. The hotel operates a low cost shuttle bus to the Huahin night market, so traffic condition is not bad.

WORST EXPERIENCE AT THE AVANI SPA. Staffs LACK OF professionalism

  1. They oversell the discount - Saying there’s 15% off for hotel guests but when we paid they said staff misunderstood… the END. They said sorry but they cannot even comp anything except 20% for a next massage or free steaming or body scanning… who would want to pay 2000 for a mediocre massage or get a steaming ?????? Like Just comp the surplus???

And she just sat there calling around asking whoever along the line she cannot do anything about it in a sad way. But not in a proactive and resolutive way.

  1. we use thai gov coupon program which they promise to look after us to make sure we can use them (we stayed 2 nights = 2 coupons). We understand that we will get total 1000 discount - this is a message that the reception and bar staff both said to us. However, during payment there’s only 1 voucher for 500B. Which they just seem to lost on it and just having a cannot do anything about it attitude. They just blamed the gov. System and said nothing they can do about it.

  2. FRUSTRATING PROCESS, the staff (all of them) keep asking us same questions - what is our room number again, what is our selected massage, what time that we wanted (ie. We said we want 60 min aroma massage & deep tissue around 2-3 pm - they asking us is it 1pm or the massage as 90 mins). Even when we making payment they switching staff and information DID NOT seem to flow. We have to repeat the same thing to a new person. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLEFOR 5- STAR HOTEL SERVICE.

4.) WELCOME STAFF HAS ZERO KNOWLEGDE on massage. While we wanted the aromatherapy/ deep tissue - they want to upsell us during appointment which we declined. Then when we showed up for the massage still want to upsell us again which to be honest uncomfortable. Don’t need to focus on upselling. If one time didn’t go through. Then just do what you’re supposed to do. Don’t focus just only upsell. The staff didn’t know deep tissue massage needs to pick the aroma oil as well 🤦🏻‍♀️. The massuer was asking her before we were about to massage and my boyfriend need to go back and sniff. Meanwhile she keep telling us that deep tissue massage would be painful but she didn’t know that it’s needs oil??? I was very dumbfounded by the lack of basic knowledge while I’m paying the premium price and in the name of avani+

  1. Masseurs are okay but seems to not have an SOP on what they do here. They awkwardly hand us robes and stuff to change and left quietly. Or the tea at end of the massage the one cup is half full one is full… so like my boyfriend handed me the one that has more drink in it… it’s true awkward and not worth the premium price for this at all.

The front desk reception and waitress at BREZZA are extremely sweet and helpful. They are the stars of the avani + BUT the spa staffs are hurting the experience and makes it an unfortunate stay. HOW DO WE HAVE MORE ANGER AFTER SPA WHILE WE WENT FOR RELAXATION. We would like to say big thank you to the front desk ladywith braided hair. But she helped resolved this painful issue for us out in the most pleasant scenario for the resort and us. Will recommend the hotel. BUT DO NOT...
