This hotel is clearly suited and set up to receive groups of people not couples. Check one as quick - always a good thing. Because of the time of year (Chinese new year) we needed to with the inky room available which was a suite on the 7th floor. If you like dark wood this room is perfect - for us it was dark and dated. Lovely view over the river but not very sound proof as we could hear the live music from the restaurant on the 1st floor like it was next door as well as the boats moving along the river during the night. I wanted a bath - the water was yellow! We’ve seen it before in another country but it doesn’t look great. The morning after we had a shower - unfortunately the water was cold. The WiFi was a bit of a nightmare - you are given a password for 2 devices, we asked for the password to another device but had to get another one as it didn’t want to connect. When I spoke to the hotel about it they said the lobby was the. Est place to be which wasn’t convenient to us as we were working. The pool area is a bit of a joke. 5 sun beds... good job we got there early (2.30pm) because within 5 minutes there were no sun beds left and people were coming down from their rooms wanting to sit by the pool. There are chairs and tables. It became apparent on our second evening that this hotel is made to accommodate large groups of people... this would explain the big tables in the restaurants, buffet style breakfast... it’s not a problem but as a couple we would have stayed somewhere a little more...
Read moreQuite a decent place. Older style hotel. Room fine, good river view too. Bed comfortable. Do not expect to have a refreshing shower unless you are under 150cm as it is fixed to the wall and made for small people. Anyone taller and bending down the only option, very poor really. Pool was quite good but cold as it gets no sun until much later in the afternoon. Refreshing though. Various on-site restaurants. Bar near lobby area, prices way too much I noticed. Breakfast was quite good although the staff were not friendly, seemed disinterested and some often seen larking about maybe as it was not too busy when we went. 5 minutes walking distance to train station where there are Tuk Tuks and a few eating places as well as the usual street food. 7-11 too. Train to or from BKK is worth the experience (but takes a while to go 70km) and 3rd class trip costs 15 THB...wtaf! The boat river crossing is closed at the moment as the river is too high. Getting across the river needs to be by Tuk Tuk or taxi really. Normally at least one Tuk Tuk outside the hotel too. You know the form, must haggle them down. We used Grab a lot and got where we wanted to go. Probably can walk to some of the historic sites but probably not advised and Grab is cheap and has AC so is the way to go. There is Soi Farang and Grand Street for a livelier atmosphere with more bars and restaurants, again a cheap taxi ride away. |Overall not a bad place and decent location for a reasonable and not too...
Read moreThis has been my comeback stay for quite a long time already. I have the river side view room which is fantastic. Nothing much has change on the look of lobby, reception, parking area and the room. Only this time breakfast is serve at Lieto restaurant with is not much to offer as set meal is serve, unlike before that buffet breakfast is the best they offer at Pasak restaurant. But this is because of limited number of guest due to pandemic. But I admire the hospitality of staff and the room is clean everyday with laundry return in the afternoon. Hopefully they upgrade the LCD tv to a much larger sizes of LED tv or smart tv and offer english channel of news like CNN, BBC, CNA or NHK as they only have Fox Movies and National Geographic. Outside not much restaurant to choose. Have to walk around 150 meter for 711 and Tesco and you will find some shops. Printing of documents at reception is amusing. One time, I printed 10 copies of A4 size text file, they charge me nothing and says its free. But on my checkout, I print 2 document text file in A4 size, they charge me 44 baht. Wow, I was totally surprised how cheap it was at 22...
