This is one of the best overall hotel experiences we have ever had. The hotel was built in 1938 by a Thai Govt official in Chino-Portuguese style. It is clear only the very best materials were used in its construction. The hotel is positioned partly over the entrance way to the lagoon that happens to be a busy waterway. Fishing boats are currently moored to the dock immediately outside the hotel. Many of the tiles used in the hotel building were imported from Singapore. The original Thai owner was forced to flee for his life during the WW11 Japanese occupation. The current owners have sort to preserve the beautiful original building with occasional complementary additions. They also have a love of antiques and many of these are on display, or in use, throughout the hotel. The back bedrooms have a view over the waterway and views of many boats motoring past. The original front sliding door remains in use today. There is a very relaxed feel to this hotel and the owners want guests to make themselves "at home." The owners also have a restaurant about 4 doors away and we were provided with dining coupons to subsidize restaurant purchases. The owners also have their own fishing boats and fresh fish is also a feature of the restaurant. The restaurant is an excellent business in its own right, open from early breakfast until late. The restaurant has an extensive menu and a few wines and beer to choose from. The hotel also has a reasonably large tourist boat for hire and excursions can be arranged. Sited in the Old Town Casa der See is very conveniently placed. The markets are within walking distance. It didn't matter if we were in the hotel or the restaurant all of the staff were totally great. We look forward to when we can...
Read moreAbsolutely Beautiful well maintained property with full of antique furniture. Stayed 2 nights on top floor with uninterrupted Lakeview. Very spacious and immaculately clean, however, it gets pretty hot by midday as whole room resembles glass cube. I had to close all the curtains/blinds to block the heat coming through and running ceilings fan and aircon on highest setting. Also, there are steep & narrow stairs to climb to reach the room. Nevertheless, I enjoyed staying at Casa Der See Boutique house. It’s in the heart of Songkhla old town so easy to walk around to see all the street arts and heritage buildings and close to many restaurants. Enjoyed having morning coffee and watching sunset on the balcony. If I visit Songkhla old town, I would definitely stay here but not the top floor but 2nd floor suite with Lakeview. Oh the coffee shop on the ground floor of the hotel makes really great Capuccino (exactly like Australian...
Read moreThis is a beautiful hotel in the heart of old town Songkhla. You would feel like staying at your friend’s house more than a hotel. The vintage decor tells the story of the old Songkhla very well. The location is so great as it is right in the center of old town and surrounded by nice and cool cafes, restaurants and shops. The hotel is right on the bank of Songkhla lake and the view from the second and third floors are second to none. The staffs are very nice with great service mind. We would come...
