My Place @ Surat Thani — Hotel in Surat Thani Province

I stayed here twice. Both times, I really enjoyed my stay here. I love that you get your own room, which even has a desk to study at (or do your makeup at since it has a mirror). I didn’t mind at all not having AC in January and February. During the hot season, it might be more of an issue. The fan was enough. Some other reviews mention tiny little ants. My first stay, I didn’t have any issues with them. My second stay, there were some in my room but not enough to be a real issue. They’re harmless, don’t bite, and they are very few in number. Just don’t leave sugar out in your room. As everyone said, the staff here are very sweet and kind. Everything including the sheets smell fine—no funky smells. The toilet paper thing is a non-issue for me. Not sure what people are freaking out about. They give you TP in your room, and there’s a bum sprayer by the toilet. It’s a bit noisy at times, especially on Saturday nights. That’s my main complaint. Also, if lights bother you at night, be sure to turn off the hall lights because they will shine into your room. There’s also a light at the top of the stairwell that shines into several rooms that can be turned off. Don’t worry, there’s still enough dim lighting in those areas for people to walk around.

When booking, be sure to check and caption the details of what they mentioned that they have in the room. Otherwise you will not get what you expect. I booked a double room with fan via Agoda. They mentioned in the room details that there was a fridge. But I found out after checkin that there was not. So I complained but the reception girl just said that she had no authority to do anything so I had to pay extra to upgrade to the room with fridge. She also said that Agoda put the details of the room without their consent!! After long arguement I told her to contact any one who could make decision. I insisted that they should provide a room with fridge as the conditions at booking otherwise I would report to the tourist police for the hotel's fraud. Finally they moved a fridge from the next rom to mine. I am Thai so I could argue with them but if you are foreigner they might just ignore. This place had lots of decent reviews so I was hoping it would be ok for the price, but I definitely would have stayed somewhere else. I hate to write a bad review but I want to share my experience.

It would be good if you were literally just spending the night, but I had lots of time when I arrived and the day I left, and it just wasn't a nice place to chill out.

Positives Staff are lovely! So helpful with any needs! One staff came to get a giant bug out of my suitcase as I was terrified of it. They were really helpful when looking at buses to airport. Location was amazing! Very centeral and close to night market!
