FOOD: Okayish variety when it comes to breakfast; if you happen to be a Vegan or a picky Vegetarian, I would advise booking without breakfast and eating out, since most of the time the breakfast buffet consisted of cornflakes, milk, toast, jam, rice, soup, salad, fried chicken, scrambled eggs and a hearty dish, e. g. fried noodles with veggies and chicken, sometimes a little bit of fruit such as watermelon or tangerines. They have a little bar near the reception offering free coffee at all times :))
ACCOMODATION: Went there twice: the first time I was staying for 4 nights; had a really nice room on third floor with quite a nice view. The second time (1 night) I was given a room facing the wall of the house right next to the hotel (which was ok, 'cause I only stayed for one night); however I couldn't leave the window open, for the smell of rubbish would creep its way into the room. Furthermore, the bathroom curtain and ceiling were almost all black because of extremely heavy mold. When I was checking out I told the reception about this issue and therefore, I hope they'll have it fixed soon and not let fellow guests sleep in it in the meantime. If I had stayed longer, I would have definitely asked for another room. All in all it is quite clean and I felt very safe there.
Most of the people working at UMA are friendly, helpful and sweet; due to the location it is actually pretty quiet. During my first stay, there was lots of noise outside my room which caused me to wake up several times between 12am and 4am. EVERY NIGHT. I can't tell if it was just other guests or members of staff as well.
I don't get what the disposal of 1000 Baht in Cash is for though, as they don't have the room examined when one wants to check out eventually... But they have a nice system of ensuring that you'll get your disposal back on the day of your leave.
To sum up: From my experience I don't think * UMA Residence is a place deserving its three stars yet and I would not book more than 3-5 nights in a row there, but it definitely has lots of potential and it is a safe place for solotravellers :)) The small pool built in the front yard definitely adds to the atmosphere and - as far as I can tell - it seemed to be a highlight for families staying at UMA. Thanks...

Price is good but quality not so great. I don’t recommend this hotel. Looks are deceiving. It’s no where near dining or shopping. It’s 20+ minutes drive away from everything. Construction all around the area.
At the reception they only gave me one key instead of two, like most hotels. Once I walked into my double room, it was extremely hot and the A/C wasn’t On. A/C is small and definitely old, because it took over 30 minutes to cool the tiny room.
The 2 double beds you can tell are very cheap and are rollaway beds on wheels. Very uncomfortable bed.
Shower was ok, not great, tiny too. Sink and toilet were small as well. Towels were ok too. Wi-Fi doesn’t work very good. Very spotty.
Next morning I went to the reception desk to ask for another room key, they said they wouldn’t give me 2nd key without 200 THB deposit. So I had to give unplanned 200 THB deposit.
You get breakfast coupons for every night of your stay… but don’t get excited over their breakfast. Nothing to brag about.
When you present your breakfast coupon you have a policing lady collecting them. When I presented mine with the correct day, she said it’s not right coupon. I looked through all my 4 coupons and confirmed it was the correct date. She didn’t believe me. But she took it anyway.
Breakfast portions are intended to be small. Breakfast was lukewarm. Selection was minimal. Fruit and vegetables were not fresh.
When I was checking out few days later, it felt like going through immigration. They don’t give you your deposit back without a deposit receipt, (which they have a copy and copy of your passport). I couldn’t find my deposit receipt so they refused to give me my deposit, until I presented them with my passport. They copied my passport, again, then gave me my deposit.
Overall I would not recommend this hotel. They seem to nitpick over everything and don’t really treat you like a guest. Just doesn’t seem...
Read moreThe shower head had dirt and mould. When I brought it to the staffs attention they did replace it immediately. However the pressure dropped on the new head after a couple of days. The room had a balcony and when I arrived it was locked off. I had to argue a case to get it open for 15 mins before they complied.Asking for plates for dinner or even using the single microwave in the whole hotel seems like a chore for the waiting staff. A lot of them don't like this even though that what the facilities are there for.Reception staff nd some waiting staff are great. However, some just aren't people people, iykyk. They always get in a grump and sometimes even refuse to help.E. G. I once saw staff leave the kitchen area so I politely asked for a dinner plate, he literally turned away form me, closed the kitchen door, said No, and then proceeded to return to his seat outside reception. It wasn't until I followed him back and had a word about manners and his job role that he begrudgingly got up to get the requested dishware.Housekeeping are usually on time and on point with their cleaning and refill duties. Though sometimes getting to the room at 4pm and they haven't been yet is quite annoying.Breakfast is decent and you can request food other than what's on the buffet. But they act like they don't want to serve at times.Asking for extra items for your room can be a hassle and I once caught housekeeping attempting to remove things from my room, without prior notice or permission, at request of the manager. When I asked them to explain, they couldn't.
