As you walk in the hotel seems grand with nice lobby & decoration but there were some complaints as we stayed 1 night & had 2 meals at the restaurant on the ground floor. We had to change rooms as we had a city view-the constant sound of motorbikes was a nuisance, not the hotels fault but with flimsy windows which didn't close properly that was. After 20 mins they showed me another city room but I stated it's the same, after another 30 mins they eventually showed me one which was facing the lobby, 1st floor. But the walls are very thin & you can hear voices fairly clearly, wardrobe doors from other rooms. The meals were extremely average. I came with a group & our fish was burnt black. The breakfast was minimal, a 1-star hotel quality with flies over the pastries.

One night stay as part of a group tour. Did not visit anything in Sfax, just used hotel as a stopover. Arrived 6pm ,for an included meal at 7pm. No time to use pool (saw it, seemed too small to swim in ,just an add on to beauty treatments?) Room adequate , had cups/tea/sugar sachets but no kettle. Window opened onto small balcony with view of tatty buildings opposite. Meal tedious French style 3 course. Very bland . Had to ask twice (in French) to get a home made lemonade.

The hotel is perfectly located a walking distance to the Medina and several restaurants. There is also a grocery store a few meters away. Room was spacious with a good size wardrobe. Bedding was clean but mattresses needed some update. Breakfast was fair. Not too many western food but you could find the basic like bread and cereal. The restaurant in site was good, we had lunch one day and food was tasty and price was ok.

This is a follow up to the comments of the hotel general manager It is certainly disappointing to have the general manager stating the wrong facts whether in purpose or being ill informed. Let me reconfirm the following: the spa steam room definitely was not working. As an engineer I can tell when I see steam or no steam at all. In fact while trying to fix it, the pipe was bursting hot water that I miraculously avoided it without being burned. The spa attendant was there to witness it and she is the one who informed me that the steam room was not working for two days. So the the claim that the steam room is functional or was fixed is simply not true. frankly I care less about the refund compared to the waste of my very limited time that I had on this trip and the frustration I have been through. In fact I never asked for the refund from the commercial manager and simply asked to meet someone to address my experience but he ignored me by saying that the GM is too busy to see me and to write an email. The story mentioned about the refund is simply a failed attempt to discredit my complaint and to camouflage the actual problems. it is simply inconceivable that people working for a declared 5 star hotel believe that a Hammam experience is ok without having a working steam room. It is like an airline taking you from point a to b on a bus without having a working airplane and believe they rendered the service you paid for. Worst of all they knew it was not working but still accepted money to give the service .

This message is not for the hotel management employees as they seem to only care about protecting their jobs. Hopefully this will help the owners to rectify the issues as I still believe the hotel is beautiful and can be an icon in the city that can contribute to a better professionalism in the tourism sector in sfax. In summary it was the Worst spa experience among the hundreds I tried worldwide. Will never go back again to that spa and I don’t want a refund or any compensation as falsely claimed.

————— Today I went for a hammam. It turns out the steam room is defective. They made me wait for 20 min inside the steam room to tell me it was not working while they knew it was not working for 2 days and yet they accept clients although they know it is not working. I complained to the person in charge she told me go complain to the hotel as they have not fixed the steam. Complained to the hotel commercial manager he told me it is not his business. I asked for the general manager, he told me he is having lunch and cannot be bothered and asked me to write a letter ( I don’t know to who ). I left as it seemed a hopeless case with zero attention to customer complaints. Very...

Five star it isn’t, one night stay , dinner was lukewarm , rooms tired but ok. The main issue is health and safety. In the morning the lift nearest to my room on the sixth floor didn’t work , people could go up to the floor in it but you couldn’t open it / call it to go down so there were other options , one, to walk around most of the floor to find the other lift , two, to use the goods lift but that was absolutely filthy but open to walk in and use ?! and three , use the stairs , it wasn’t clear which floor was which to exit the stairs to the dining room so I ended up on the bottom floor to find a hat stand placed at the bottom of the stairs and mattresses to the right of it but worst of all what I can only assume to be fire exit doors were chain padlocked! Fire exit instructions weren’t obviously available so if there was another fire exit there you would still have to move the hat stand and push past the...
