We stayed at this hotel twice due to the good price, but if we had known what was in store, we definitely wouldn’t have returned for a second stay.||First Stay: Upon arrival, the staff offered us an "upgrade" both times we stayed, which ended up being a clear downgrade. The room they gave us was dark, dirty, smelled of cigarettes, and was completely different from what we had booked. It didn’t resemble the room we paid for at all. After complaining to reception, we were finally moved to the room we had originally booked, which was a major improvement. |My advice: avoid their so-called "upgrade" offer—it’s not worth it.||Second Stay: The second experience was even worse. We were placed in a lower-floor room facing the pool. Unfortunately, the bar, that pool is shared with, hosts loud poolside parties every night, making it impossible to sleep. After complaining again, we were moved to a smaller but quieter room. However, this room had a strong moldy smell, which made it uncomfortable.||Negatives:||The room on our second stay smelled like mold.|Housekeeping repeatedly disturbed us, entering the room even after we explicitly said we didn’t need anything.|The lamp in the room was broken.|Dirty sheets were provided, and we had to repeatedly request clean towels.|Both times, the "upgrades" offered were downgrades.|Stuff doesn't speak english well, so a lot of times they do not understand what the issue is.||Positives:||The breakfast was decent.|Staff was generally helpful when approached.|The hotel lounge area was quite nice and comfortable.||Overall: I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you're prepared to firmly insist on a high-floor room away from the pool and double-check the condition of the room you're given. Be aware that the hotel is located in an industrial area, with limited nearby amenities like grocery stores, and it’s not safe to walk alone. Despite the affordable price, the inconveniences far outweighed the positives, and I...
Read moreI had one of the worst hotel experiences at Golden Hotel in Tunis, Tunisia, and I strongly advise others – both Tunisians and international travelers – to avoid it.||From the moment I arrived, the reception service was extremely poor. The receptionist was unhelpful and showed no professionalism. I had to carry my own bags and load them onto the trolley myself – no assistance at all.||I had booked a deluxe room with a king-size bed and a nice view. At check-in, the receptionist told me the AC in my original room wasn’t working, but that he would give me a better room with a view. Once I accepted and paid, I discovered the room had no real view – just a side angle of the pool and surrounding buildings. Worse, the room I received had no sofa, which I had specifically chosen not to have.||I came to this hotel to celebrate my wedding night, a very special occasion. I even left a note on Booking.com, asking for something special and requesting a late check-out. No one replied to my note, and the receptionist told me I could stay until 1pm (instead of 12), and that he would leave a note for the morning staff. But the next morning, no one knew about it, and the miscommunication continued.||To make things worse, I got a call from housekeeping at 9 AM, just 4 hours after we checked in, asking to collect the dirty towels – completely unprofessional and intrusive.||The room was missing basic amenities:| • No toothbrush| • No toothpicks| • No slippers| • No Qibla direction for those who pray| • The bed was uncomfortable, and| • The AC made so much noise that it was impossible to sleep properly.||In short, it was a very disappointing and frustrating experience from start to finish. The hotel staff lack training, communication is terrible, and the overall service quality does not deserve the price charged. I will never stay here again, and I cannot recommend it to...
Read moreThe hotel itself with amenities is actually very good! There are numerous restaurants, seating areas and even a nightclub... Upon arrival there is a scanner for your security. Considering how busy the hotel is the check-in was swift, friendly and polite. The rooms are a little dated and could do with a deep clean including fixing cracked tiles, changing mouldy grouting etc but apart from that its comfy, the AC worked, a decent size TV, kettle with coffees/tea and a 2ltr bottle of water small shower gels and shampoo. WiFi is fast and was reliable while I was there. Room services are good but they do come round collecting used linen around 09:00 so if you want a lay in make sure to hang your sign! The restaurant I used was Peppinos. A comfy restaurant with a fair selection of Italian dishes. Large groups or singles can easily be catered for. In the end I opted for a tuscan salad, vegetarian pizza and a bottle of dry desert wine. The food was a good portion size, very tasty and well presented. Service was also attentive and friendly. I also used the coffee shop next to reception. Yet again service was friendy, the choice on the board is fair but unfortunately what is on show is all there is, so the board showing whats available is misleading. Coffee and cakes all good, especially the custard pastry topped with Tunisian dates..... Being a non smoker being allowed to smoke everywhere, including the restaurants, was my only real dislike. Overall, for the price you pay its a very nice...
