This is a clear example of how the STAFF can turn a potentially great hotel into an undesirable one.
Firstly, you should know that the none of the staff members that currently work in the hotel speaks a word of English (I really wonder how can this be possible in a place as touristy as Mardin). I'd like to clarify that the language barrier was never a problem due to the fact that (thankfully) one of my friends was able to communicate with them in Turkish at all times. Otherwise, I wonder to what extinct they would have tried to fool us. So just keep in mind that it was the way they poorly treated us -and not the language barrier- what made this experience overall unpleasant.
Upon arrival, they rudely insisted us to pay inmediately without even letting us see the rooms. After asking repeatedly for it, we could finally see the rooms. For some reason, payment by foreign credit card was not possible, which was very unconvenient. We also asked several times throughout our stay for the receipt of our payment, but they never gave it to us. One day they tried to move us to a different room claiming that "other clients had come to the hotel and they thought it was a good idea to give them our room and move us to another building". They insisted on accessing our rooms and taking our belongings without our consent. After an exhaustive discussion, we finally managed to avoid this happening. This is the way they look after their customers. Moreover, breakfast is okay, quite average. For some reason they serve it in a separate building, instead of using the lovely terrace that the hotel already has.
Simply put, what could potentially be a great accommodation in the heart of this charming city, turns out as an undesirable place in which its (current) staff only cares about the money of its customers and puts zero effort in providing a...
Read moreI’ll start off by saying how beautiful and clean the room was and the breakfast was just enough, not great. The negative thing was that, the hotel has rooms in 2 different areas (not in the same building), so when we arrived there they didn’t tell us beforehand that what I’ll see in the photos aren’t actually going to be my room and my view of the room. They had to put this information on their page or at least inform guests before coming so they know where to park and get the bags before walking all the way down. Another extremely unwelcoming thing was done by the front desk lady who didn’t know her job and was truly mean to us, started questioning without having any clue about us arriving there. I’m only giving 2 stars for the room and the working lady in the room. The rest isn’t...
Read moreThe room we've had didn't have any windows, it's not for claustrophobic people. The walls are thick and made out of natural stone, therefor it feels humid. You can turn the AC on and the air can circulate through an evacuation pipe they've installed in the room. The bathroom has an automatic evacuation system that works well. Our shower head was catastrophic, water splashing all over the place. Luckily there was a Turkish bath. The water was more luke warm than warm. The owner explained that he'd only turn on the water heater on certain times as the energy prices sky rocketed in Turkey. As from then we knew when there was hot water, and we didn't had to bath cold no more. The breakfast is a good and fresh treat. The staff will help you whenever they can.
This is a great...
