Shocking experience! Avoid at all cost!
We had booked this Hotel as part of a Wedding party and arrived quite late to Istanbul checking in around 1:00 AM on Saturday October 5th 2024. We had booked this hotel via the weddings parties "discount" via a direct link from the hotel. The hotel couldn't find our reservation upon arrival and since we were so tired we couldn't find the payment confirmation (because it was never sent) and made us believe the payment hadn't gone through.
The night manager then said that they had no rooms available and only the suite that was triple the price was available. After checking on Booking, we said we would opt for another hotel that was closer to the original price. The Night Manager at the reception was trying to "convince" us that we wouldn't get a room anywhere because it was so late and started arguing with us.
After showing him on Booking.com that there was an indeed other options close by that we're even fairly priced somehow magically a room appeared within 2 minutes that we could book at our original price. I can't even explain how unprofessional his behavior was - he was clearly trying to take advantage of the situation of us being tired and not finding the booking confirmation. He was basically trying to scam us into paying a higher room, lying through his teeth that there we wouldn't find an alternative option.
I have never had an experience like this. I didn't know one could get scammed by a Night Manager at reception of a global chain like the Mövenpick. If this wasn't enough, when we checked out the reception had told us that we had accidentally paid twice for the hotel room. They said they would reimburse us but it's been almost 10 days and I haven't received or heard anything.
I was quite frustrated at this experience and it was clear that the woman at the reception was fully aware and embarrassed by her colleague's behavior upon checkout.
The reception was clearly not competent enough to find our booking and then tried to scam us into getting a hotel suite pretending like they didn't have any other rooms available.
If you have to stay here, avoid booking directly with this hotel at all costs. Booking.com has better rates than they provided for the wedding party and at least with booking.com you receive a confirmation and won't be scammed upon arrival to try and hustle you into booking the most expensive room and misleading you that you won't find any hotels in the Besiktas area which is...

From day one, the staff were rude, judgmental, and unwelcoming. At breakfast, the waitress would stare at us like we had eaten too much. Nobody explained that you had to ask the staff for different egg options — we only realised when we saw other guests getting them. When we eventually asked, the waitress gave us a strange look and said, “I think that’s enough.” It felt as if we hadn’t paid for breakfast — but we had.
The fridge in our room wasn’t working, so our drinks stayed warm in the middle of summer. We had to constantly ask for ice, and every time, the staff would disappear for over an hour. There was no urgency or care.
Worst of all, the air conditioning wasn’t working properly throughout our entire stay. The room was freezing at times, and when we reported it, guest relations didn’t believe us until they checked themselves. Once they confirmed the issue, they offered us two unhelpful options: either stay in our room with the faulty A/C, or move to another room with a terrible view (a dividing wall running through the window). No compensation, no upgrade, no apology — just cold responses like, “That’s the category you booked.” There was no effort to make us feel comfortable or valued.
We stay regularly in genuine 5-star hotels, and this experience doesn’t come close. There was no hospitality, warmth, or care from the staff. We paid for a premium experience and were made to feel as if we didn’t belong.
Don’t be fooled by the 5-star label — this felt more like 2 stars at best....
