WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER
We booked a king room with a city view through Agoda and we're having minor surgery in Istanbul so booked 19 nights to give us recovery time. When we arrived they first sold us a travel Sim card but neglected to mention the fact it couldn't make any overseas calls or texts which if we had known we definitely would have declined.
Then they said they needed a 100 euro cash deposit and because we didn't have any cash they sent us to an ATM down the road with an additional 20% transaction fee on it. Because the Sim card was 60 euro I gave them 200 and was going to get the 40 euro back when they said they could convert it to lira for me and give me that instead. When they gave me the Lira they only gave me 1700 and when I checked later I realised 40 euro is actually over 1900 Lira so I had to go back to the front desk and ask for the the remainder of my money. Their excuse was there was actually a "transaction fee" but because I was unhappy could make an exception just for me and gave me the 200 lira that I was owed.
When they took us to our room it was only a queen bed even though we booked a king room and the "city view" was looking directly onto a messy cliff wall. And when we went to open the curtain it broke immediately so we had to call for it to be repaired.
When we went back to the front desk to explain we were given the wrong room we were told that is the right room we booked and anything on the back side of the building is classified as city view even though there is literally no view. It was something I would expect from a 3 star hotel not a 5 star one. They said to actually see the city we needed to upgrade to sea view and would cost an extra 20 euro per night! When we voiced our displeasure about being misled the counter staff were extremely unsympathetic and not apologetic at all saying if we wanted to complain we need to go talk to agoda. When we requested a room change to a higher floor we were told we were "staying too long" and had to wait 2 nights before we could be moved. We asked if we could cancel our stay and be refunded and they said they couldn't do that for us.
After 2 nights we moved rooms to a higher floor still looking directly out onto another building wall so no resemblance of a city view and additionally the new rooms window was pitifully small just being a sliver of the back wall. The bed side light was also broken and the air conditioner was extremely noisy.
The new room had a minibar with some items and we took that as some form of apology for having to spend two nights in the wrong side bed from what we booked and since they didn't mention us having to pay for it when shown the room and we never requested it be stocked.
Then when we went to check out they said we used the mini bar and would need to pay for it. I said were not happy with that at all because of all our troubles and took it as compensation for them. I even gave them back the two bottles of alcohol unopened that we hadn't used meaning we had just used a couple soft drinks, nuts, gum and a tiny bar of chocolate. They said they can't give it to us for free because "how are we supposed to pay for that". They then quoted the charge for those items in the mini bar as 4440 Lira or over 100 USD or nearly 200 nzd. We refused to pay such an outrageous price as that is a complete scam for items we had and then they said they would call the cops on us. My partner was under a lot of stress and very visibly distraught and they did not show sympathy one bit and even threatened her when she touched her phone and they mistakenly thought she was taking photos.
Outside we had a transport from the hospital we had surgery with waiting for us that had already been sitting there half an hour at this point and couldn't wait any longer and would leave without us plus we had a plane to catch in a couple of hours so we had no choice but to just leave then and there and they wouldn't give us our 100 euro deposit back. When we started walking out one of the staff even grabbed at me trying to...

Value for money : 5/5
I booked a 7 nights package at Dossa Dossi Golden Horn for my family for 2 connected rooms. The rooms -although - small were convenient and definitely great value for money especially when you have very young children.
Staff : 4/5 The staff were very polite in general and the cleaners were prompt (Pinar was good) and always ensured we had everything we needed. However, the experience with the room delivery service was not that great. A bottle opener was requested at least twice in half an hour and still did not arrive only for me to have to go to the reception in the dead of the night to ask for one. Basically reception asked the restaurant staff to deliver and they did not. But strangely reception just blamed the restaurant and did not even care to apologize. It was quite irritating.
Breakfast : 5/5 Just a great variety of food ! Loved it.
Ala carte : 3/5 Pizza and that too delivered to the room - hardly impressive. The other items were not exceptional as well
Cons:
The tour package recommended by the staff to Bursa-Uludag through green express travel was a total waste of money with the tour being more of a "shopping tour" with much time wasted everywhere.
The tour package recommended to Sapanca could have been the same if not for me pulling out. We were told by the staff that "it always snowed" in sapanca. But a simple phone call to Sapanca resort - after the debacle of the trip to Uludag - revealed to us there was no snow. The hotel staff must be careful in recommending.
The Pereme tours dinner-cruise package recommended by the hotel was way too pricier than the Lufer yacht package.
The pizzas were...
