Starting with checkin on very first day 19th April after the flight and transfer to the hotel, Hi we are here to check in, the reception staff on Saturday evening were blank as they thought we are coming by tomorrow? I donno why they thought, they continue to find the room on their system and took 20-25 mins while we were clueless and just standing in front of them like mannequins. That’s fine, we got the room, we went into the room and saw there wasn’t any windows in the room, i went down and request to change the room as we were there for 7nights and we can’t staying in a room where there were any windows. They said they can’t do anything as we have booked economic room, yes I have booked economic room but it doesn’t states in my booking whether it has any windows or not. They said to speak with the manager by morning. I have problems in breathing while sleeping in that closed room that night and I requested it again to change at first the manager was knowing the problem (that sounded good) and he said okay pack your bags and keep it ready will move it once you guys are back. One more thing i reported about blood stains on the bedsheet. He said no we check all the beds after we clean them and started blaming us that the blood came from us? Started asking do you have any cuts? I was like sorry? That blood stain is old and dry you can completely see that it’s old. We were happy packed everything and went out, when we came back there wasn’t any change and have to sleep in that same room again. That day was my birthday so I haven’t said anything rather we slept in the same room with open door. Next morning we reached out to British airways holiday and told all the situation and ask for help, they had a word with hotel manager. The manager in the hotel is so weird he doesn’t talks by himself until you ask. So we went next morning to him requesting same to change the room, again he said okay keep your bags pack if something pops in will move your bags. He said come and ask him tomorrow again for the same thing. Mate, I’m working with the same industry and know how the hotel management works so don’t try to bluff me saying oh we are fully booked when they were selling the rooms on booking.com. Again we didn’t unpack anything and kept our belongings in the bag. I was like at this stage it’s like begging to him to give us a room with a window! I wanna say why we have to come to you again and again to request the same thing? Can’t you come and tell me what’s the update if someone is coming to you 4th time, still u asking them to come to you for 5th time? Such a looser this manager was! After that no one from reception asked or greeted us for the rest of the days! Lol after 4nights we got another room with a window and then we unpacked our stuffs and got settled down. People in tourism industry should be happy to help not like this inefficient guy saying no sorry can’t do anything! People come for a holiday to relax and chill from work stress so they can be happy. Here more than half holiday went and we still haven’t unpacked and got settled down! Anyways big shout to Housekeeping team as they were fantastic! Thank you Housekeeping team to keep us happy! But that manager needs to do uni and should learn how to do customer service and how to talk to...
Read moreThis hotel is misnamed on Trip Advisor. It's now called Festinn Suites Hotel. It's located in the off-the-tourist track Golden Horn, in my view one of the most interesting parts of Istanbul. It is very hard to find. Taxis don't know it (and the rip-off artists will take advantage of that). You can get to the hotel from Attaturk Airport by taking the metro and then the metrobus to the Haljoli (sp?) station. From there take a cab to the hotel. But few drivers will speak much English so have the help desk at the airport write out the name of the hotel and the address in Turkish. A landmark most know is the Miniaturk and it is a few blocks north of there on the west side of the road. (It's also close to the Hilton Garden Inn but that is up a hill from the main road.) You can also take the 401ST bus from that metro station but it is hard to find the right direction and place for the buses. You need a bus/metro pass to which you can add money; buy it at the airport station. It works on the metro and the major bus lines. THE GOOD: the suites include 2 rooms with a small kitchenette and living area and a separate generous sized bedroom. The views from the window of the Golden Horn across the street are splendid and the breakfast is decent (but tiresome after a couple of days.) The staff are very helpful in intent if not always knowledgeable. There are many small restaurants and few larger ones nearby. The smallest ones won't speak English or take credit cards. There is a small swimming pool in the basement and a nice turkish bath and sauna. THE BAD: The raod noise is loud from all rooms (they claim "soundproofed rooms"; they are not. Also, the bathrooms are linked to a central air shaft and are malodorous. (I looked at 3 rooms and they all had this problem.) There was mold on the sink and floor grouting of the bathroom. The smell does not go away even by closing the bathroom door and opening the outside windows (hard to do when it's cold). The cleaning staff are not adequately trained or rigorous in their cleaning and the products they use do not adequately kill the mold in the bathrooms.I cannot recommend this hotel until it fixes the problem and clean up the mold; this is unsafe in my opinion. The exchange rates are terrible--use an ATM--and some of the staff are more pleasant than...
Read moreOur stay at this hotel was very good right from the start. After checking in at reception, we were helped by a very kind hearted, efficient young man, his name is Fikri. He took our luggage up to our room, he spoke good English and explained all the hotel facilities. On viewing our room, which had a double bed. I requested if we could have a different room with two single beds; Fikri immediately spoke with reception and instantly sorted this out like magic no fuss no bother took us to the requested room. I then asked if he could tell me where I can get a Turkish SIM card for our phones, he explained the phone package and cost and very kindly sorted this for me. I said we are hungry and would like to eat, he said no problem the restaurant upstairs is open you go and enjoy your meal and I can bring your sim cards there. Within minutes he brought the sim cards. He explained and wrote down what I needed to do to activate them. He even knocked on the door next day to check the SIM cards were working okay. Amazing service I can’t tell you how grateful I was. In fact throughout our stay I knew if we required any help I only needed to ask. He helped with getting us many Taxi’s too. In fact so many things, too many to mention here. He went out of his way to help all guests at the hotel and nothing was too much trouble. Fikri is a very intelligent and humble young man; a credit to the hotel. Other staff members were also pleasant and helpful. The manger spoke very good English and was helpful if you needed any assistance. The hotel was lovely and clean. We loved the buffet style breakfast. The other food in the restaurant was not to my taste and could definitely do with improvements. Location is quite good not too far from Istanbul airport and most places we wanted to visit were about 20 minutes...
