Our 100 something group of friends stayed at Macakizi for a wedding, and while we had high expectations given the hotel's luxury status, our experience was unfortunately far from satisfactory. Despite the hotel's elegant interior and view, the actual experience did not live up to the hype.||||Room: We booked a garden view suit expecting a lavish space with all the promised amenities. However, the room was smaller than anticipate, with just curtains separating the bath from bed, not enough console space to put our toiletries. Housekeeping literally didn’t exist - we had to ask multiple times every day that there is no toilet paper, or no one has brought us towels or water.||||Service: Service is where we felt the most disappointment. With such a large group, we expected a well-coordinated effort from the hotel staff, but their attentiveness was lacking. We had to call the front desk multiple times to get assistance with basic stuff, like AC not working, TV doesn’t have WIFI, and the response time was slow. For a hotel of this caliber, we expected proactive and seamless service, which simply wasn’t the case.||||Dining: The hotel’s dining options were another letdown. Either an elegant chef curated meal or buffet, very few a la carte items to order from we a premium prices. The menu was limited, and the quality did not justify the cost. Breakfast, too, was average at best, with a slow service.||||Amenities: The pool looked nice but was small and more part of decoration than a pool. The beach looks great but rocky, and you can only jump from the docks, meaning no sandy beach to walk along, so not ideal for kids or anyone who doesn’t know how to swim. For a luxury hotel, the amenities felt rather ordinary.||||Stairs and Safety: it seems the designers copied a concept from another hotel without any consideration for safety and practicality. There are 1,000 of steps between so called reception and rooms, no elevators. We saw kids falling down the stairs, we saw old women walking into glass walls. Not recommended for anyone who has kids or can’t walk down the straits.||||Billing Issues: Perhaps the most shocking and concerning aspect of our stay was discovering that our signatures were forged on bills for items we never ordered. Even worse, the same item had been billed multiple times to different rooms, including ours, leading to significant discrepancies in our final bill. There is one thing that a burger and salad is overpriced at 3,100 TL, but when a 130,000 TL bill becomes 110,000 TL after hours of waiting, and the front desk not being to able to show a video that I ordered these or a receipt that has my signature on it, this is fraud to the next level. This is completely unacceptable for any establishment, let alone one that brands itself as a luxury hotel. When we raised this issue with management, it was handled poorly, adding to our frustration and disappointment.||||Overall: While Macakizi has the potential to offer a luxurious experience, it didn’t meet our expectations. Despite being a large group celebrating a special occasion, the lackluster service, underwhelming dining, minor room issues, and, most alarmingly, the billing discrepancies and forged signatures left us feeling that this hotel is more style over substance, and we are not in a safe place. Sadly, it’s not worth the premium price, and we left feeling disappointed rather than pampered. We may come back to Bodrum again, but...
Read moreRight now we are towards the end of a 3 month Europe trip staying at only high end hotels and resorts. So far we have been all over Italy, Greece, France, Croatia, Spain/Ibiza and London. Truthfully I read the negative reviews here and was very worried about coming here. 2 days in and I can tell you all the comments made are completely untrue. The staff are all absolutely amazing, kind and friendly and all go out of their way to make you happy.
The sunbed area.... Firstly all of the rows are are outstanding, they are very comfortable with judge pillows and very white clean towels. The view out to the sea and islands is pure paradise. If your a hotel guest you will be able to reserve a bed in any row, the reception assured us that they reserve the best beds for their hotel guest which was true for us. When we arrived to the beach we were greeted by with a very warm welcome by a friendly and easy going host. She asked if we were hotel guest then asked us our bed preference, we asked for front row and that's what we got. She also reserved our beds for our entire 5 day stay. This means you don't have to rush your breakfast and morning coffee to get a bed like in every over resort.. wow and thanks Macakizi your beach experience is the best I've ever had.
The pool bar is also by far the best I've seen in Europe. It's classy and full of summer energy and really brings out the holiday atmosphere and unlike most places (not to name any) their aim is for you to relax and enjoy yourself not to profit on bar sales as much as they can. Other places we stayed at if you wanted a good spot like on the beach deck or front row you are told you have to spend a minimum 250 euro a day on drinks at the bar. Maybe at places like Nobu Ibiza with their 10 euro still water and 16 euro beer it's possible but doing this in Macakizi you will be blind drunk as their prices are very cheap in comparison to other places.
The rooms described in the negative post are also untrue. The rooms are big, tidy and have a beach theme to them. The bathrooms are large and completely separated from the room, they have a fixed good sized shower, a separate bathtub and a good sized vanity. The sea view we have is total class.
Breakfast and Dinner are of high quality, better than Frances famous Michelle star restaurants at a fifth of their prices.
If you are looking for a place that has everything then this is your place to visit. You can relax in a magnificent location and have a better party than what Ibiza can give you. In IMHO Ibiza can learn a lot from Macakizi.
Thanks Macakizi for the amazing...
