Would I go back? Nope!
A 2* resort (advertised as 4*) that was good, yet so bad. I will start with the positives of the staff, they were polite, welcoming and accommodating, a few were good at basic English and those that weren’t, would use a translate app to help communication. The food was good with a daily variation, a large salad bar and a selection of fruit and local deserts, so you will not go hungry.
The resort is set on the side of a mountain so there's lots of steps, which is not mentioned in any of the hotel information. This was a common gripe that you would hear from some of the less agile clientele.
There are 3 pools, but only 2 were open with the 3rd being a green swampland. When we arrived, we were told there were 3 but only 2 were open, and that there were 2 bars but we could only find 1, so we assumed the closed pool might have had the second. If you are using the middle pool, you need to go down to the bottom pool where the bar is and carry the drinks back up.
Now comes the bad bits - the rooms. These are seriously outdated and uncared for, with so many issues. During our stay, we heard so many people complaining about their rooms, but as these are only hear say, I will only tell you the issues we actually experienced. There was no hot water in the shower for the first 48 hours but at least the water was running when you turned on the tap, this was not the case for the sink, this only had cold water. The shower was blocked and when we asked for it to be cleared, the drain was actually at the high point of the shower and the floor ran to the other end of the cubicle meaning you always had to step into a cold puddle of water when you got in.
The fitted wardrobes were not fitted, so when you opened the doors, the carcass dropped out, not unusable or dangerous, just left a big gap. The drawers in the wardrobe were hard work and only 3 of the 4 worked. The bathroom door handles were so rusty you would be forgiven for thinking this was actually the colour they were supposed to be, this did in no way detract from the fist sized hole that was in the door and had been filled with clear silicone as a way to carry out a repair.
The room had 2 single beds, so we slid the beds together only to reveal a broken socket and exposed wires. There is a fridge in each room, which doesn’t always mean there is a plug socket to plug it into.
The second room was also not great. The TV was smashed and had taken an impact there was only hot water for 2 of the 7 days, and the shower was full of black mould, not just around the edges but all up the walls. This did get cleaned off after a persistent conversation with reception. As compensation they offered a free bottle of wine which tickled us as it's an all inclusive resort and wine it readily available.
Outside the room in the main corridor, there were 2 black rubbish bags which I believe the cleaning staff left there, they only stayed there for 3 days so not that bad in the heat? The second room was cleaned daily after complaining about the mould, the first room was not cleaned for the whole of the week, although fresh towels were delivered to both...
Read moreRiva Bodrum Resort + Anex Tour = THE PERFECT STORM OF SCAMS, POISONING & EXTORTION! STAY AWAY!
Our vacation at “Riva Bodrum Resort”, booked through “Anex Tour”, was a catastrophe on all fronts. This isn’t just poor service – it’s a ‘systematic scheme of deception and money-grabbing’, where the hotel and tour operator are complicit. Details of the nightmare:
POISONING ON DAY 2 & STAFF INDIFFERENCE: ☹️ On just the second day, my girlfriend suffered vomiting, 39°C fever, and excruciating stomach pains– thanks to "fresh" fish or mayo-based salads from the buffet. Result: Turkish hospital, IV drips, 3 ruined days instead of a vacation. The hotel offered NO compensation. Staff blamed us: "It’s your own fault!"
ANEX TOUR: SCAMMING TOURISTS INTO OVERPRICED "TOURS" & SERVICES: "Excursions" are a tourist trap! We were aggressively pressured into booking tours to Ephesus, Dalyan, and "yacht trips". Prices 2-3X higher than market rates!Ephesus: €120/person (street vendors: €50). "All-inclusive" yacht: €200 (real price: €70–80). Comfort lies: Promised "air-conditioned buses" – got a sweltering 40°C sauna on wheels + a rude driver . The guide only pushed "extra fees for cave entries". Mafia-style pressure: Anex’s on-site manager (bombarded us with calls and door knocks: "You must book the yacht! It’s a must-do!". Beyond intrusive!
WATER: HUMILIATION WITH THIMBLE-SIZED 100ML CUPS: Drinking water felt like alms! In the restaurant, it’s served in tiny 100ml cups . Begging required for a refill. We felt like paupers pleading for water in a desert. This isn’t economy – it’s humiliation.
NO BEACH! DECEPTION & A DEATH MARCH IN 40°C HEAT: The hotel HAS NO PRIVATE BEACH. Advertising is false! The nearest paid beach is a 25–30 minute hike UPHILL on scorching asphalt with no shade. Only an Olympic athlete could manage this! At 35–40°C, it’s lethal for children or seniors. Taxis charge €15 one-way. Just another cash grab!
OTHER "JOYS" OF RIVA BODRUM: "Free" Wi-Fi: Only works in the lobby (at 1 Mbps). Dead in rooms. Poolside ice cream? A myth! NON-EXISTENT, despite Anex Tour’s promises. Food: Poisonous (see point 1), cheap mystery meat, "seafood" that reeks. Filth: Mold in showers, dust on every surface, stained sunbeds.
THE REALITY: Riva Bodrum Resort and Anex Tour are a CRIMINAL PARTNERSHIP SCAMMING TOURISTS. The hotel poisoned my girlfriend, lied about the beach, water, and amenities. Anex Tour scammed us out of thousands for "exclusive" tours, harassed us with sales tactics, and enabled the hotel’s negligence.
WE PAID FOR A VACATION BUT GOT: A hospital visit (due to poisoning), A financial black hole (thanks to Anex), Constant stress (from rudeness, filth, and lies), Ruined nerves and a wasted holiday.
WARNING: NEVER BOOK RIVA BODRUM RESORT OR USE ANEX TOUR! DANGEROUS for your health,...
Read moreI will start with the good part of the hotel, we were a group of five young adults that stayed there for seven days during the start of October; The staff at the restaurant is very polite and works fast to attend the guests and their requests, there was one boy working at the reception that was really helpful with information also; The spa and massage staff were really kind and welcoming, that was overall the best part of our stay- the massage and sauna; the location is convenient, has nearby beaches and bus stops + a supermarket at a close proximity. So far, that had been the only proper part of the whole stay, the rest was not pleasant to say the least: The rooms are very outdated, there is black mold in the bathroom and shower, we had to shower with slippers each time. There are no lights on the ceiling of the rooms, the only ones are bedside lights that you have to plug in to use properly, the outlets are very inconveniently placed in the middle of nowhere on the walls, there is not an outlet close to the mirror besides on right above the sink which is a hazard on its own. Our room we stayed at had a practically unusable balcony, RIGHT next to the pool, first floor, the door could be easily opened from the outside out, we had little to no privacy whatsoever since the curtains only cover half the big windows that is pointed at the bar that’s FACING our room and the pool. There is no shelf in the shower to put your things at besides the sink, some of the towels they gave us were already used/dirty, the beds had hair on them from previous guests, the hygiene was practically non-existent if we hadn’t cleaned our rooms ourselves. The doorknobs are rusted and close/lock strangely, sometimes just open on their own when you’ve locked them, the walls are very thin to the point I hear the upstairs’ guest’s conversation as clear as if they were sitting right next to us in the same room; The pools are filthy and uncleaned, there were several tissues thrown in them and nobody bothered to clean them for three days straight as far as I have seen, the water from the shower that is supposed to be CLEAN and FRESH is salty as if coming from the sea itself and does not lather your shampoo at all, leaves you itching and feeling like you had just been at the beach instead of freshly showered. The food was good but most of the time there weren’t tables available to sit at and utensils were limited- you had to personally find a staff to ask for them. The ‘game room’ has not more than 5 fitness machines (only one of them worked) and two billard- that’s it. As a hotel manager myself- I would not give this hotel 4* in the standard of Turkey and for this price we had...
