As Turkish Americans, embarking on a heartfelt journey to our motherland to reconnect with the places our parents once called home, the Grand Ani Hotel became a radiant highlight during our 9-day Eastern Turkey and Georgia expedition. In a town like Kars, we admittedly held Western standards in high regard, yet the Grand Ani Hotel exceeded even those expectations, instilling a sense of pride in us for its presence in this charming locale.
With roots firmly planted in both Turkish and American cultures, our perspective was uniquely poised to evaluate the hotel's offerings. From the impeccable cleanliness to the meticulous attention to detail, the Grand Ani Hotel showcased a level of professionalism that resonated with us deeply.
As we indulged in each expertly crafted dish, we marveled at the culinary experience that rivaled those of global gastronomic hubs. This, combined with the thoughtfulness of providing essentials like toothbrushes and toothpaste, spoke volumes about the hotel's commitment to guest comfort.
The staff's warmth and local knowledge seamlessly enriched our travels, ensuring that our exploration of our parents' heritage was layered with insight and connection. Having stayed in numerous hotels of similar price points across different cities, the Grand Ani Hotel's supremacy was undeniable and profoundly appreciated.
Our visit to the Grand Ani Hotel transformed not only our stay but also our entire journey into a tapestry of cherished memories. As Turkish Americans seeking to honor our roots, we found ourselves pleasantly surprised by the hotel's alignment with Western standards, and profoundly proud that such an establishment flourishes in Kars. For a hospitality experience that blends seamlessly with international norms, the Grand Ani Hotel stands tall as a beacon...
Read moreStaying at the Grand Ani Hotel really made our family’s four-day vacation in Kars. We went out in the city to learn the history of Kars, and then we could have fun and relax back at the hotel. Most everything was less than a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Everyone who worked at the reception desk was very helpful, smiling and nice.
We had connecting rooms: my husband and I had a Queen-sized bed, while my two children had separate twin-sized beds in the connecting room. Each room had its own bathroom. Bathrobes were also an added luxury while staying there.
We enjoyed going to see the different museums during the late morning, and then my daughter and I would return to the hotel in time to relax at the pool, hamam, sauna and steam room. I really appreciated having separate hours at the spa for women and men (1030-1530 for women, 1600-2330 for men). Melek hanım was very helpful and kind at the spa. At the time of our visit, two trained women from Indonesia were on staff for massages and peeling services in the hamam.
My grown children enjoyed working out in the gym in the evenings. They had more than enough weights and equipment for a hotel gym.
We enjoyed the relaxed pace while staying at the hotel. Everything that was pictured on the website was accurate when we visited. The Internet worked great; we could easily stream movies in our room from our computer. We really enjoyed the holiday decorations as we were visiting close to New Year’s.
If I were to return to Kars, I would never stay anywhere but the...
Read moreWe had a terrible stay at Grand Ani Hotel. I read the comments prior to my stay and they were positive but I have to admit it was not the case at all for us.
1st night, we arrived late. They put us in a room that had a terrible smell of cigarettes everywhere. The hot water in the shower was not working. We had only a blanket for 2. We called the reception, they told us someone will go up to take care of this, no one came.
The day after, I went to the reception to change room. They put us in a room that was way smaller compared to what we booked. The bed was smaller too. The shower had no curtains and we simply flooded the bathroom when we took a shower. They forget to change our room number and in the middle of the night a hotel employee CAME INTO OUR ROOM with another client because they checked him in into our room!!
The last day I went for checkout and I told all of this to the manager. They told me they would reimburse me. This was a complete lie, I was fully billed. I complained to Expedia, they contacted the hotel who told them that "According to them, there was no problem during my stay and they never agreed to anything". ... well you were there when we changed room in the 1st place and when someone entered our room in the middle of the night so you certainly know there was...
