A Tale of Two Experiences: Great Features and Missed Opportunities We booked the Side Moon Palace for a 13 night stay to celebrate my partner's birthday, drawn in by the promise of 5-star all-inclusive luxury and a swim-up room. While our holiday was enjoyable overall, the experience was a real mix of impressive highlights and frustrating shortcomings that kept it from being the flawless trip we had hoped for. On arrival, the hotel certainly has the wow factor. From the moment you step into the vast, gleaming lobby with its polished floors and modern decor, it makes a striking first impression. The entire property is kept immaculately clean and is clearly well-maintained. We were also incredibly thankful that after a long flight delay got us in very late, the hotel's night buffet was still open, allowing us to get a much-needed bite to eat and a drink to unwind. This was a thoughtful and appreciated touch. The staff are, without a doubt, one of the hotel's greatest assets. They are consistently pleasant, attentive, and work tirelessly, from the bar staff who quickly learn your regular order to the animation team keeping the energy high around the main pool. Another lovely surprise was the patisserie in the lobby. It felt like a proper little café, offering a fantastic selection of intricate cakes, pastries, and genuinely great coffee that was a significant step up from the standard machine fare. The absolute star of the show, however, is the hotel's private beach setup. The dedicated shuttle is frequent and efficient, and the facility itself is brilliant. It feels like a proper all-inclusive club right on the sand, with its own bar, a good selection of food, clean showers, and rows of available sun loungers. We never had an issue finding a great spot – it’s a fantastically executed perk that we strongly advise guests to use. Unfortunately, the main dining experience didn't quite match this high standard. The buffet is what you might expect from a large all-inclusive; there's always something to eat, and the selection of fresh fruit, salads, and vegetables is extensive. However, the core hot food options become very repetitive. It soon became a nightly game of "chicken or fish again?". If you aren't a fan of either, your protein choices are severely limited. A recurring issue was that the chicken dishes were often full of bones, requiring a bit of careful navigation to eat. It's perfectly adequate if you're not a fussy eater, but it's certainly not 5-star gourmet dining. Our most significant disappointment revolved around our swim-up room. I had specifically contacted the hotel a couple of weeks before our arrival, explaining it was a special birthday trip and requesting a more private end-of-terrace room. This request was unfortunately not fulfilled, and we were allocated a room directly between two lovely but very active families with young children, meaning quiet, private moments on our terrace were few and far between. The room also lacked the small luxury touches you'd anticipate, like bathrobes or a coffee machine. The most frustrating part was finding only one sun lounger on a terrace meant for two. After asking three separate staff members over two days and being assured each time that it would be sorted, we eventually gave up and had to go and find a spare one ourselves. It’s these lapses in service that really detract from the 5-star feeling. It’s also worth noting the hotel's location is quite isolated, so evening strolls to local restaurants aren't an option. There are a couple of small shops on-site and nearby for essentials, but they are, as expected, quite overpriced. In summary, the Side Moon Palace is a beautiful, clean hotel with fantastic staff and an outstanding beach club. However, the repetitive food and the significant service slip-ups with our room request and amenities prevent us from giving it a wholehearted recommendation. It’s a good hotel, but managing your expectations is key.

PLEASE READ AS THIS IS AN HONEST REVIEW OF MINE AND MY FAMILY'S STAY , MOST OF THESE HOTELS SAY 5 STAR if you are easily drawn in by this then so be it , To be 5 STAR everything must be VERY GOOD in all departments, unfortunately this hotel is a 4 star at best even though we gave it an overall 3 star rating in mine and my familys opinions as we have stayed in a lot of hotels very similar over the years.3 adults 3 kids 16/15/12 HEADS UP ON DEPARTURE AS IT WAS EVENTFUL AT 3.15AM , AS THE LAD ON RECEPTION TRIED TO GET €10 EUROS OUT OF ME AND WAS ABRUPT ABOUT IT SAYING WE NEEDED TO PAY FIR A KEY CARD WHICH WAS OUT STANDING ON HIS COMPUTER FOR 1 OF OUR ROOMS, Arrived here approx 11pm, got our rooms with oly 1 KEY per room which is a first this has happened as normally we would get at least 2 and when 1 of your kids leave 1 in the room you had to go to reception borrow a spare 1 but had to take it back which was very annoying, we were given 1 wrong room which was 2004 and when we went in there was a drainage problem in the bathroom it was very smelly , went and seen reception and we were told we can change in the morning, moved to 2050 which I do not recommend as it's above the hotel entrance and could get noisy , beds were ok cleaned regularly, all the staff at the hotel seemed nice , 1 big pool which was ok sldrswwre good for kids but only 1 double ring and 1 single ring for everyone to share which was very bad as it was a busy place , LOCAL SPIRITS AND BEER EFES only , beer very gassy and the spirits and mixers are ok , FOOD was ok ALLWAYS different things to choose from each day but did get repetitive , A LA CARTE that you get to choose to was wasn't the best and you have to book early if you do want to try it . Beach is a short shuttle journey away and it is a lovely beach and warm sea, water polo takes over the area of the pool and if your daft enough to look for a bed were the goals are be prepared to take the ball in the face (seen it a few times), Pool areas seemed to be under staffed . SUN LOUNGERS get up early if you want a particular bed as they go quick but plenty other beds to choose from, entertainment team were good , the Turkish lad who Short on hair (like my self) was a good lad, THE GYM was ok to do a little session in but very warm with 3 Aircon units but the young lady from the spar would come along and turn 2 off for some reason but as soon as she did just turn them back on as they are the same as the room , INDOOR POOL WAS EMPTY SO NO ONE COULD USE IT. IT WAS my daughters 12th birthday when we were here and I ordered a cake and they sorted us a table out that looked good for €20. There is 2 markets close by but they are no different in price than the hotel . Overall some of the finishes in this place are bad looked like it's been rushed needs a snagging list created and sorting out asap. Not a place I would return but had an ok stay. SO ON DEPARTURE BE VERY CAREFUL IF LEAVING THROUGH THE NIGHT/EARLY MORNING AS I THINK SOME STAFF ARE LOOKING TO MAKE A FEW EUROS OUT OF US HONEST HARD WORKING ENGLISH PEOPLE IT IS THE LAD IN THE PICTURE AS I WANTED TO LET THE HOTEL KNOW OF THIS .

The hotel is very beautiful, looks great, is very clean but is far from things (location wise), so be prepared to take taxis (very affordable). Most staff can't speak English, so you have to say the basics & or show them with actions. The reception staff speak & understand English well, as well as the daytime bar staff. Most staff around after 8 pm are covers so don't know ant information or what any foods/deserts are. I Love that it's ALL inclusive (which included quite alot), which was (Dec 2024), 24-hour bar, 24-hour lobby, 7am breakfast, 12.30pm lunch, 6:30pm dinner, & 12am-late snack (See image for what was included). A lot of the pool & outdoor bar things were not there because it was winter/cold/raining, but I think they should just make a winter list so we know exactly what we're getting. There were also snacks in the lobby between meals & a cafe open where you can get deserts/hot drinks as well. A lot of the food would be reserved (put out again) if not eaten, which was worrying & and a few cakes in the lobby were going moulding by day 4. I assume durring busy seasons, this isn't the case as it would be booked with people. The electric went off about 3/4 times in our 7 day stay & it had quite a few leaks (which didn't affect anyone in any way). The deserts were those plasticy, none really deserts you get that look nice but cheap (taste of nothing/plasticy +sugar) If you like desert you will be disappointed as I was especially as they recycled deserts. The fruit was good, that's what saved it. I don't know much about the alcohol but every guest i spoke to said it was all the cheap stuff, so with that, what you will. The juices were definitely the basics stuff & not real 100% juice, which is fine for me. They did have real coke & fanta. The pool was great, Jacuzzi was less than half a foot deep, made no sense (to me). The gym looked good. My sister used it 1/2 times a day. Rooms were great, fride restocked every day with drinks which again were included. Overall, it was good, I heard it was only 6 months old, so there were a lot of new hotel problems, i assume. The evening entertainment was what you would expect for a family friendly hotel, basically good for little kids like 11ans under but not suitable for 12 years up. Very cheesy stuff for adults like singalongs. The live music musicians & singers were really good, but not appreciated by the clientelle (Mostly elderly Caucasian people) Alot of information was not told to us, like the disco in the hotel we knew nothing about so we missed it, The in-house restaurant (that a few guest recommend) was only open Thursdays so we missed that too. I would go again souly for the great room & food/drink all inclusive which wasn't the best but the times it was available made up for it by far & I know what to expect, but I would expect all minor things to be resolved, (they are easily fixable) but the time the hotel is 2 years in!

Fur Coat no knickers!|My sister and I arrived after midnight and we were told main restaurant was open to get something to eat by man on reception. We dropped our cases into our room and then went to restaurant. We had left to go to airport at 10.45 and had not eaten since 12.00 lunchtime. When we got to restaurant there was only some sour tasting soup, dry bread no butter and some smelly cheese. No drinks machine as they were all turned off. |I am diabetic so need to eat little but often, we found the food to be inadequate as there were no fruit available ie bananas, apples etc and sour soup. We returned to reception and asked if there was any where else we could get food from as we were hungry and was told no! We had to take it or leave it. I explained that I was diabetic and needed to eat to keep my sugar levels stable. The man at reception advised that was my problem not his and then carried out a conversation with another member of staff. He was very rude and dismissive and I again asked if he understood what diabetes was? He again said that was my problem not his and then carried on with his conversation with other man. I couldn’t believe his attitude and the nasty way he spoke to us. |Food in restaurant was same every day and found it to often be cold. Food warmers were turned off and often lids were left up. We were hungry most days as food was cold, unappetising, and not nice. Best meal of the day was breakfast I lived on omelette each day.|Our room had a lovely view over main pool and children’s pool. However the level of cleaning left a lot to be desired. Drain cover in shower was never in place and left drain open to bacteria, germs etc. Also our bathroom door was disgusting we noticed that there was marks on both sides of the door which looked like someone had thrown up and had not cleaned it up.i rang reception and asked if the maid could clean it and they said it would be done. However it was not cleaned and I and caught maid 2 days later and showed her she then cleaned it. |Snack bar - same choice everyday burgers, chips, salad, buns, melon, watermelon apples etc. No covers over salad, or fruit and very off putting when flies were constantly on the food. You should have covers on food to prevent contamination. |Lobby bar waiter/waitress service what a joke we stayed with you 10 nights and on the 9th night a young girl server actually asked if we wanted drinks. Every night we stood and queued to get served as no one asked us if we wanted drinks. |After 4 nights stay I was told you had run out of Martini Rossi and I would have to wait until you got some more,I asked every day after that but upon leaving you did not get any more. After 6 days you also ran out of my alternative choice of white rum. I could not believe it. You did however have it the following evening. Vodka also ran out and my sister had to wait 2 days for that to be replaced. Your Manager also annoyed people who were queuing for drinks by directing people at back of queue to the front and then they were served before others that were before them in queue. |I would sum up the hotel “as fur coat no knickers” meaning looks good from afar but closer inspection shows flaws. Poor finishing in rooms, rough plaster, poor decoration not carried out properly. Rooms not cleaned thoroughly, thick dust on egg chair on balcony, dirty cushions on egg chair. Glass on balcony very dirty and covered in footprints and lots and lots of handprints, floors in room not cleaned or swept and mirrors show where they are able to reach and no more.|Definitely not 5 star at present - entertainment is pretty much the same every night just called a different dance name. Is very boring and though talented staff needs to be better. Food quality and choice need improving, bar should be stocked at all times not run out of basics. You’re staff do not do jobs properly and is letting the hotel down from cleaners to servers. I acknowledge that there are some good staff who go above and beyond there duties but a lot do not. You’re food health and hygiene needs seriously review as I’m surprised no one has been ill due to flies, uncovered food etc. |Would I recommend this hotel, definitely not. Should...

This is a mediocre, all inclusive hotel. It is branded as a 5 star, but certainly does not meet that expectation. They have favoured aesthetics over quality - while the hotel looks and appears brilliant, their service could be a lot better. This is a newly opened hotel and I can appreciate that they are doing the best they can with the limited staff/service/products they have. Overall, it was an ok experience.

Entertainment -entertainment team are ok, some are friendly and others aren’t as much. More enjoyable for kids than adults. -some evening shows last until midnight which causes a lot of noise if you have a pool-view room and can disturb sleep

Rooms -nicely sized and well-equipped -comfy beds -no iron or proper mugs for hot drinks, just normal drinking glasses -bathroom drains do not work properly and cause a smell -are not soundproof. You can hear everything from the beep of the lift, slamming doors, to children running around and the sound of entertainment/loud crowds until early hours of the morning. -mini fridge is well stocked and replenished frequently

Food -looks like there is a variety at first, but a lot of food is repeated on consecutive days, so you end up getting bored of the same meals. -food is not seasoned enough -breakfast options aren’t varied enough and do not change -cold meats/imitation pork products are very processed. Would rather have turkey bacon, chicken/beef sausages etc -there is no toaster, just a grill -there are almost always long queues

Staff/service -many do not speak English so cannot always understand simple requests -most are friendly but not all -in the restaurant, the service is not uniform and consistent. For example, many staff did not take our drinks orders or supply us with glasses for water. A lot of the time, we ended up taking glasses and filling them with water for ourselves at the waiters’ work stations, because they had not asked us. -staff do not let you push tables together to accommodate for larger groups. As a family of 10, we had to sit separately almost everyday at breakfast and lunch. At dinner, there were luckily tables big enough but these were not inside in the AC, which was difficult with young children/elderly parents.

Cleaning -cleaning staff are always around and while they do not speak much English, they are polite and friendly and will try to accommodate you as best as they can -however, rooms were not thoroughly cleaned. We had used glasses in our room which were not replaced with freshly washed glasses - they were simply rinsed. Floors were not vacuumed or mopped as I noticed that hairs had not been cleaned from the floor. Surfaces were not wiped down and stains from glasses or crumbs on tabletops were still there even after housekeeping had visited our room.

Facilities -really good range of facilities and things to do in hotel (arcade, pools, slides, gym, sauna/steam, spa, clothes and accessory shop, snack shop, beach shuttle etc) -fridges around the hotel were well stocked with water -ice cream available from 3-5pm either by the pool or the patisserie cafe freezer -pool is a good size and weekly “foam” (liquid soap) parties are fun -beach is great, a short, free shuttle ride away. Sand is fine, slightly sharp as you enter the sea. Water is a lovely temperature. -however, space is tight around the pool as sun beds are very close together with limited walking space in between rows of sun loungers -sun beds are reserved by guests from 6:30am onwards (even though they are advised not to), so once they are gone, they’re gone! -toilets in main building (near pool, restaurant and main reception) get smelly quite quickly -good range of drinks at the bar. Bar snacks such as nuts are also available if you ask

These issues will take time to resolve as the hotel takes on more feedback and guests. They definitely have good potential, but unfortunately do not yet meet the standard they are advertised to be. Consistent and clear expectations need to be communicated to all staff. Better chefs could be sourced & wider range of hot...

The hotel was beautiful and the food was good. The TV’s in the room had access to Netflix, YouTube, Amazon and twitch which was amazing and there was free wifi which worked fast. Everything was clean and looked very nice however there were a couple of things that could’ve been different to make this feel like a 5 star stay. A few of these things are there was no access to water in the restaurant unless you asked the staff for water which they would then pour into a wine glass. The indoor heated pool was freezing, it was not heated at all and the kiddy pool was lukewarm. The rooms didn’t have the signs available which you can hang on your door to either say ‘please clean my room’ or ‘do not disturb’. The worst part was majority of the male staff who worked at the lobby bar being very sleazy and making us uncomfortable. There was a Turkish guest at the hotel who made it a point to keep sitting behind me and my friend and he kept looking. When I went to the toilet he intercepted and asked for my social media which I politely declined. I told my friend when I was back and we were sitting and talking. After a while he came behind us which startled us both and on his phone he had written on google translate, “my car is parked outside, are you ready to leave?” My friend and I both said no in absolute disbelief to which this man then proceeded to storm out the hotel slamming the door and not even using the revolving door. The next day he was still around us and we noticed how he was talking to the male staff in Turkish at the lobby bar after midnight when it was only the males left. We could tell they were talking about us as they kept looking at us and laughing and when my friend and I went up to get drinks he sarcastically said good night to us and we could feel how the staff were also finding it amusing. There were two boys we ended up talking to after who were guests, one was 17 and the other was 20 and they were also from the UK. We found out from them that the staff had been asking the boys to talk to us since we’re from the same country as they wanted to ‘sleep with me’. for the staff to be bringing their disgusting activities in to other guests and discussing us was ridiculous especially considering one of the boys was only 17 and this was obvious as any guest under the age of 18 was required to wear a red wristband as opposed to a blue one. We were talking to these other two guests and later on the staff were asking them to bring us into the VIP lounge which was strange because why do you want us in there at 2am??? I think it was between 2-3am maybe later when one of the male staff members came to where we were sitting with the boys and asked if we wanted to go to the VIP lounge. We said no and then a female member of staff who we’d seen at the entertainment earlier also asked us which was weird as it seemed as though she was in on this strangeness too. We were again asked by the same man around 45 minutes later and this time we were obviously irritated by it. The boys we met also told us about a comment one of the workers made saying he didn’t want to come and talk to me because my bestfriend is ‘scary’ based on her being black. This is racist, ignorant and should not be tolerated. Assuming someone is a certain way because of their skin colour is disgusting, please educate yourself and grow up. I didn’t expect this behaviour from men at a 5 star hotel. I’ve been to Turkey multiple times and have found that the men can be quite perverted however I’ve never experienced it to the extent of other guests being bothered by them too because they want our attention and i definitely didn’t expect this behaviour from a 5 star hotel. The female workers were lovely especially Ayfer who was the highlight of our holiday. She would always greet us with a huge smile and say our names and she really put in this effort with all the guests. my friend and I were truly grateful to have met her as she was the absolute sweetest and made us feel very...
