Family of 4 (3 adults one 4 year old) stayed for 10 nights 30th July to 9th August.|On arrival at 10:30pm we were greeted by lovely staff at reception and checked in. Our bags were brought to our room and we were told where to find food. We had a nice meal of turkey, mash and veg with fresh fruit. My son was disappointed that the fruit wasn't cold (always has melon from the fridge at home) but that was our only negative. We got a peaceful night's sleep and I woke at 6am. Having read previous reviews about loungers, I headed out to the pool and grabbed 4 loungers at the splash pool. I then walked around the hotel to get my bearings. Staff were polite and friendly as I walked and I found the fridges with cold bottles of water at the pool bar, there was also tea/coffee facilities too.||Breakfast. The most delicious freshly backed croissants were available plus fresh fruit (sadly no bananas at breakfast and again not cold), fresh bread to make toast (only one toaster and it takes a few goes to actually taost the bread) or toasties (would have loved this to be available at lunch too but unfortunately not). Plus yogurts, olives, cereals, biscuits, wafers, pancakes, pastries, dried fruits, fruits in syrup, also eggs (boiled every day plus scrambled, fried or omelette at times too). No there is not a full English breakfast (this is a multicultural hotel, not catering solely to British guests, live a little and try something new).||Lunch was filled with options, the terrace outside the restaurant had more of the "meals" whilst the pool bar served more fast foods. Both had a brilliant selection, we never got bored, just keep trying new things. We headed to the beach and the food selection was just as good but offered the same choices so no need to rush there. ||The highlight was the lady making fresh gozleme between 12 and 4pm. There are a selection of sweet or savoury fillings and they are absolutely divine! Other snacks include a variety of ice cream flavours, waffles at various times so you won't go hungry. You can also purchase fresh milkshakes or smoothies at the pool or beach but we didn't bother. ||Evening meals never got boring, yes there are the staple choices which didn't change much but there were new dishes each day also. As I said earlier, try new things. My absolute favourite was the pesto pasta, made fresh in the pan in front of you, they guy making it has great skills! There is always freshly grilled meat and fish too which was always delicious. I cannot understand comments complaining about the food, we cannot go hungry here!||The main pool is huge, one area being used by the entertainment team (I'm sure they were lovely but we didn't really engage with them at all). The rest of the pool has loads of space to play, float or swim at 1.4m deep it was perfect for this. My son learned to swim independently here. ||The splash pool was the highlight for us, a huge play structure with 3 slides, plenty of toys and fountains and the incredible giant tipping bucket. This was great fun for anyone with kids with a shallow pool to cool off in whilst letting the kids play. The area around the bottom of the structure is fenced off but some ignorant parents allowed their children to climb in but the lifeguards were vigilant to stop this. ||The 4 larger slides were also brilliant with a section of this pool cordoned off to allow people to wait at the bottom safely. The lifeguard gave the thumbs up when it was safe to go, checking and clearing the bottom appropriately. They are great fun for all ages. The slides and splash pool run 10-12 then 2-5 giving loads of time for fun.||Yes around the pool sides is slippery and there was some broken tiles (these were repaired when reported). Just pop across the road to the carrefour and buy a pair of slipstop pool shoes for 400tl and they'll solve the problem. ||The beach is gorgeous. The shuttle was frequent and comfortable taking a few minutes and dropping off right at the boardwalks to avoid the hot sand. The bar and food was great with fast service. There are fenced off areas protecting sand daffodils and sea turtle eggs which was lovely to know they are taking care of them. The sea is warm and, although choppy with the breeze, comfortable to stay in for a while. The loungers here aren't as comfortable as those at the pool and could probably do with replacing soon.||Evenings were lovely, we settled in to play games in the lobby bar with delicious cocktails in the air conditioning. The humidity outside reached 99% which we didn't want to sit in so never bothered with the evening shows. We did go along to the inflatables night which my son loved but some boisterous teens made it a little unpleasant so we left.||The room was a delight, 2 bedroom family room had ample space for us. Twin beds for me and my husband then the converted sofa beds for my dad and son. Everyone slept well. We didn't bother with the pillow menu just used the spare quilts as extra pillows as needed. The balcony had a drying rack which came in handy and we faced east for beautiful sunrises. Although blackout curtains would have helped me lie in a little longer (I'm up with the sun, but this made sure we always got the loungers we wanted). The bathroom arrangement was brilliant, we could use the shower, toilet or sink area independently without intruding on each other's privacy. Cleaning services were always very good. I spoke to guest relations as we kept missing them as we had an afternoon snooze and she sorted so they came at different times. The light signals for do not disturb and clean room was very useful. The doorbell however was not, we had a fault where the light switches in the room set the doorbell off but guest relations sorted this too. Yes there was some noise from guests above but nothing major at all, if you're noise sensitive, bring your own earbuds. ||The communal areas were always clean and tidy. The lift situation was a bit tricky as there's only 1 lift per block so if you're on a higher floor you could be waiting a long while. Fortunately we were on floor 2 so the stairs weren't an issue for us. The decor is pleasant and all staff were polite at all times.||We did 2 trips out, one to land of legends and one into Side town. Both were great and we used taxis rather than excursions so we had more flexibility on times. The taxi rank out the front of the hotel were very helpful and reasonabley priced. ||All in all we had an absolutely wonderful holiday. Terrace Elite was a brilliant hotel offering all we needed. We have returned home, well rested with...
Read moreJust back from 7 days end of July as a family of 5 (children age 4/8/12). We arrived early hours of the morning and were told that we couldn’t get the 2 adjoining rooms that I had emailed to request 2 weeks beforehand but they were next to each other and upgraded. Upon reading some of the reviews now it seems that this is said to a few people on arrival plus having checked my booking again it was the room type that I booked in the first place. ||The hotel itself is clean and tidy and of a high standard but NOT 5. The room was clean and ample sized. The bed was comfortable enough but there was only this thick cotton style blanket on the bed which was hard and uncomfortable (duvets in the wardrobe but it was 33 degrees so too warm plus no cover sheet for them). There was a fridge that was stocked with water, Fanta, cola and sparkling water that was refreshed daily - this was a lovely touch. Air con worked well for us. Our balcony door was broken and didn’t lock. The main issue with the rooms is noise. The walls are paper thin. If your room is one that has one of those adjoining doors into the next room then be prepared to be able to hear everything. Our neighbours were not English speaking so I didn’t know what they were saying thankfully, but they would come in at midnight, have a shower use the hairdryer have conversations and then eventually go to bed. This was as well as having no choice but to listen to whatever show is on from 10pm-11pm as it is soooo loud you could never sleep through it with our room being on the side of the stage. Some consideration to family’s checking in with small children should be taken into consideration and asked or be made aware that it is noisy over certain sides of the hotel. Again none of this is what you would expect from a’5’ hotel.||The pool areas are good. You can have pool towels provided and changed daily in the spa. The slides were enjoyed by all 3 children with even my littlest allowed to go on the bigger ones by herself once she found the confidence. The lifeguards seemed quite relaxed the first few days basically letting anyone do whatever they wanted but then got a bit more authoritarian towards our last few days. The sun-beds are an issue. I HATE hate hate hotels that let people reserve sun beds, the signs (tiny ity bity ones) that are there say you can’t but this is not policed. To get a bed close to the pool be prepared to get up early!!!! One day I was there I saw 4 beds right by the slides (that had 2 towels laid over them as a reserve) not used till gone 2 pm!!!!! Another day 4 right in front of slides not used until 11:30. This again is not what you expect in a 5* hotel. ||This hotel also is clearly more favourable of the Germans, Russians and Dutch. I’m not bothered if there are no brits there at all but they are alll soooooooo bloody rude you can just tel before they even speak. None of them know what a line or queue is. They will see a line then go and cut to the front anyway. They smoke everywhere!!!!! You could be sat on your sunbed with your children there and right next to you they will light up and blow their smoke all over you without a second thought. It’s disgusting when your a non smoker and they don’t even care that they do it around children. ||The food is bearable. It is, as others have said, absolutely repetitive. Now I have stayed in multiple AI hotels over the years so I am aware that certain elements of meal times are repeated ie the pancakes as breakfast and the pizza/chips/nuggets at lunch but there is NO change to anything ever here. Breakfast had the same thing everyday - also sorry brits but no sausage/bacon/beans etc - only German style sausage then danish pastry etc. the omelettes were ok though. Lunch was by the pool snack bar, same thing everyday, from right to left in this order (bet you it’s still the same) pizza/rice/chicken/veg/nuggets/onion rings/pasta x2/chips. None of it was remarkable, just edible and the temperature of it was baffling. Sometimes just about warm even in outside temperatures of 34/35 degrees never hot?? Then dinner had some theme nights but apart from the night that had sushi (which had all disappeared after an hour because the ‘others’ had all gone nuts for it even though it was probably the worst sushi I’ve ever had) I can’t say I ever noticed a change at all. Parents also take note, the hotel is very much a kid friendly one with a lot of facilities for them but when it comes to meals there is no kids section like in other hotels where they would have sausage/pizza/nuggets/peas/beans/sweetcorn etc with no plastic plates and cutlery for them and they’re own counter where they could help themselves. Again all the Abbie a massive let down for this so called 5* hotel. On the plus side my children did enjoy the ice creams and waffles. ||We went to the beach twice whilst staying here, you could easily walk it but we opted not too in the heat and with young children. There is a shuttle bus that runs back and forth continuously for most of the day. Really good amenity to have. The beach we just found too hot but the bar and snack bar looked good and served similar lunch to that at the hotel, we also had no trouble getting a sunbed in the afternoon. The sea was the warmest ive ever experienced, like a warm bath. ||So 2 days before we were due to return home we asked reception for a late check out in 1 of the 2 rooms we had. Check out is at 12 and we weren’t being picked up till 5:45. They said shouldn’t be a problem and to come back on the morning we were due to leave. We did, to be told there was no possibility as there were people coming in that would be going in the rooms. We asked for any room in the hotel then that we could have a shower in and let my daughter nap in if needed (even though she’s 4 it was hot, she gets tired, I didn’t have a pushchair) again told not a single available room in the hotel. They gave the impression that they couldn’t care less about you as you are leaving. We used the showers in the spa as told to by reception which were grubby and had no changing cubicles. ||Honestly I can’t for the life of me work out how the hell the hotel has 5 stars. It’s a 3 at very best! Is it just turkeys rating system??? this hotel would be a 2/3 star in Greece. We booked through TUi but there was minimal presence there apart from an hour on some mornings. Again a sign of more other nationalities being more prominent in this hotel. The false advertising through TUI for this being a 5* is also...
Read moreWe arrived at the hotel around 10pm we checked in and were taken to our room, when we arrived in the room it was very basic, we had booked a standard room for 2 adults and 1 child. |The bed setup was 2 single beds and a sofa bed, the beds had one very thin pillow each and a blanket that you would get in a hospital bed. My husband went to reception to ask for additional pillows and was given one that was all ripped and no pillow case. I wasn’t putting that anywhere near me. So I had to use towels to lift the current thin pillow up. |The air conditioning was working well the room was like an ice box. |We got settled in for the night as it had been a very long day of travel. The first thing we noticed when we lay in bed was a noise that was constant only way to describe it was like a hoover, this was there 24/7. |We were in room 4116 on the ground floor and this was right outside the entrance to the delivery area which was extremely noisy, and the smell that came from there was awful. We couldn’t sit out on our balcony as the heat from an unknown source was horrible and the smell was disgusting. We would have went and asked for our room to be moved but travelling with an autistic child would have caused so much upset.||Day one - we got up nice and early, the shower was awful it had no pressure, the water went from nice to freezing or boiling within seconds. |We went for breakfast and the food was very disappointing, the choice was extremely limited, I ended up eating tomato, egg and turkey ham everyday. My husband couldn’t find anything that he liked so ended up with pancake and pastry. We have been to many hotels in turkey and the food here has to be the worst. |The plates were dirty, served drinks in chipped glasses, and the tables weren’t always cleaned properly. The amount of flies in the restaurant was unreal, sitting trying to eat and swatting flys away. I understand you are going to get flys in the summer but this was a ridiculous amount of flies. |We were out to the pool area for 8.30am not a single sun lounger was available, we needed close to the pool for our autistic son, after asking for some help to get 2 sun loungers they were brought to us which was a massive help. So from the first day we knew we had to get up at silly o’clock to get a sun lounger. 6.30am and at that the majority were already away, and some loungers lay with towels on them all day with no one on them. Which really annoyed the life out of me. |The pool area wasn’t overly clean, at the loungers were always dirty, until the second last day of our stay when a young boy was going around cleaning them, people were leaving dirty plates and cups lying all day this was attracting loads of ants. The service around the pool wasn’t great either, there were guys on roller skates and would only go to certain guests and ask what they would like, clearly they had been tipped and this is why. For instance one day the couple next to us was getting served all day and never once did the waiter ask for our order. We don’t mind going to the bar but it would be nice for all guests to be treated the same way. ||The pool bar - drinks were a hit or a miss not one cocktail tasted the same, the plastic glasses the drinks were served are needing to be binned they are disgusting and round the top were all jaggy. The cue at the bar at times was ridiculous you could be standing for over 30mins, it’s high season and only 1 or 2 serving isn’t fair the workers were run off their feet. ||The snack bar for lunch food was probably the better food place serving the same food everyday, pizza, burger, salad, roasted vegetables, rice, chips, pasta, (cheap) chicken nuggets and a donner or chicken wrap. |The plates again here were dirty and even if they were clean they were all scratched and looked very old- not what u expect from a 5star hotel. |The snack bar area was kept clean by the waiters. ||Evening dinner was the same every night there was small changes but it was very much the same, the food wasn’t hot and the chicken was as dry as dry could be. Outside there was barbecue every night serving chicken, steak or lamb this was the only protein that wasn’t dry. You also had a pasta station outside serving 3 different pastas this was the only thing I would say was really nice and had flavour. It was cooked when you ordered it so was nice and hot. |Again though only one guy making the pasta and the cue was long. |I’ve never been to a 5star in turkey where I’ve had to pay for an ice coffee, fresh orange juice or milkshake. It’s meant to be all inclusive. €2 for a fresh orange juice absolutely would not be paying this!! |The poolside toilets- they were disgusting never clean the smell was awful and the majority of the time there was no toilet roll. Soap dispensers didn’t work properly and only gave a tiny drip of soap. I expect toilets should be kept extremely clean, again I’ve never seen this in a 5 star hotel. ||The evening entertainment was good the animation team worked their socks off. They produce their own shows and the time and effort that has went into these is fantastic. |The animation team were the highlight of the hotel, they tried really had to include all quests in the day time activities, there was something for the adults to do most of the day, water volleyball, darts, table tennis, pool games at 12pm then there was afternoon water game this was normally water polo. Children were not allowed to play only adults. There was a kids club but we didn’t use this so can’t comment. ||Overall the hotel is definitely not a 5 star hotel and they really need to up their game to become a 5 star. Would I return to the hotel the answer to that would be a...
